When Dio came along and entered the Sabbath family, he transitioned them from 70's hard rock/early metal to the heavier side of rock and into 80's Heavy Metal. This stuff has more of the heaviness and speed combination that his own stuff had, while retaining that "Black Sabbath sound".Iommi is a magical wizard on the guitar! Heaven And Hell (the song) has to be one of the heaviest songs, beginning with the opening riff!

Ya, it IS unfortunate if you never saw him live! Saw this tour TWICE (it was one of my dream concerts I never thought would happen that I'd wished for years before it did) and saw Dio 3 or 4 times beginning in '88. Out of the hundreds of bands I've seen live, if I was forced to pick, I would say he is probably my all time favorite lead singer (but there are a few others right up there!). He always did 3 or 4 Sabbath songs each concert and I was dying to see them with the original band!
