​Funny that you should say that because the reboot by Chris Carter of the X-Files series in 2016 or whenever was so completely eviscerated that it caused me to suspect that he had been basically bought out or overwhelmed by CIA and affiliates. I didn't even recognize the spirit of the new series as connected to the old one. It was just a pile of StierScheiße. But then just about everything that digs into the spookier things is being gutted that way. I think that the two stars saw the writing on the wall and found a way to bow out. Sometimes the government will have shows made to get people's minds used to an idea before it happens. I've since learned that this type of thing has happened with many many shows and movies.
