I’m glad games like hellblade 1 and 2 exist, while it’s no god of war or the Witcher gameplay wise it is a superb cinematic experience that sucks you in. Ninja theory knew exactly what kind of game they wanted to deliver and they absolutely killed it, it’s a great sequel. Not a game for everyone for sure

What god of war gameplay? That game Also has no gameplay its a movie through and through. Therefore, the insane budget, Idk why you compare Witcher to these 2 games they are not im same tier at all. Witcher is a full fledged rpg with developed story and very complex interactions, even witcher is not exactly known for "gameplay".....and you said god of war has gameplay. YIKES! It has really no place beside Witcher which is famous for its story, choices, music and character development. You may need to play better games that have complex combat and puzzle solving to actually start talking about gameplay try CrossCode and Lords of the Fallen, a mild one to start would be Outlast 1 or Obscure 2.

I was also initially a bit stumped at the ending, but upon rewatching and analyzing the whole journey, I think it's a subtle one. I loved Senua's final monologue, where she, for a moment, foresees the righteous ego-maniacal agent of vengeance she could become (likely, just like her father), were it not for her constant self-doubt. But that self-doubt stays her hand and makes her realize that her path is not set in stone. I would love for a 3rd game, but it could be that will never happen. Crossing-fingers and all that

Just completed it. I actually completed 1 and 2 back to back. Phenomenal games. I can't believe how some folks complain that this is a walking simulator. So was Lord Of The Rings! No one complained about those 3 and a half long movies! Oh, and what about the FedEx simulator called Death Stranding? Give a game a chance to be different for a change! Maybe I'm just used to story driven experiences. I had plenty of practice with games like Shenmue. There were moments in Beijing where the walking unknowingly prepared me for Hellblade! Lol. And I've cleared that game at least 4 or 5 times😂 Anyways don't sleep on this amazing game. Hellblade parts 1 & 2 belong in a museum.

Yesh that's what i was thinking too, kinda thought it was in her head cause they turned to rock and the giants were always someone something happened too, like a bad spirit type thing, the voices said the "monster were once men" or something but then the homies see them and fought them too. Was like what the hell are they crazy too? I still dont know lol they all lost it to forawhile in that one area

No there's giants. But they only exist (somehow) because of bro's father. The final boss. He used them to attack his enemies as well as control his own people into thinking that he was the only thing that could save them from him. I think senua said that there were no giants because she was referring to the fact that it all just tied back to him. And that the ones that did turn into giants, were essentially just people with trauma which he used against them
@DrewThr91
@DrewThr91 Ай бұрын
@@jaredhatfield2806 oh yeah I know all that, what I was getting at is it was an odd choice of dialogue by the script writers to say "there are no giants." Probably would have made more sense to say something like "you are the giant." Or "you created the giants."
@D4K44R1
@D4K44R1 Ай бұрын
@@DrewThr91 To clarify a few things: No, there quite literally are no giants. It was very deliberate wording by the writers. Hellblade is a mundane world made fantastical by Senua's psychotic mind. Ingunn was the volcano eruptions, Saeggeirr was a storm and the 'Tyrant' was a blizzard. The giants were a story Aleifr told to keep people scared, but they never existed. Note that Senua never saw Ingunn until after Fargrimr told her about the giants. One symptom of severe psychosis is delusion; seeing patterns and meaning in things where there isn't any. The stories the Hiddenfolk tell Senua about each giant are just pieces of information she has turned into a tale in order to banish them. ástríðr tells Senua her father was betrayed, that traitor becomes the giant. So naturally, this raises the question of what is everyone else actually seeing. They don't all suffer from severe psychotic delusions, right? Well, human beings have a remarkable capability to anthropomorphise anything, like looking at the front of a car, or two dots and a line and seeing a face 🙂 1000 years ago, who's to say seeing a face in the rock wasn't the Hiddenfolk watching you? It may seem far-fetched, but an important thing to remember is that these are 9th century vikings. Most of them just don't know any better. If the volcano erupts and their leader says it's a giant breaking through from Jotunheim, they believe it. If a storm clears and a 'seer' proclaims a pile of rocks is the giant's corpse, they believe that too.

I can see why some people weren't happy with it, it's not really a game, and more of an experience. If you embrace it that way, then there is plenty to saver here. The Graphics, sound design, story and acting are all phenomenal. Once i got to grips with its linearity, i was very happy with the experience i had.

Honestly my biggest gripes with the game is how short it is and how oddly distributed the chapters are (the puzzles were rather weak too, but I'm maybe too demanding in this regard). Searching for the huddelfolk felt like an eternity but rewarding, whereas the next two bosses took almost no time. I was ready to struggle to get the answers to kill the giants but they were almost thrown at me. I felt like the writers were losing patience with me and just shouted the answer so that I would skip to the next quest. That and I felt like we either didn't spend enough time with our companions or that some were quite useless and shouldn't have followed in the first place. There were too many characters to really care imo. Hell, I've spent more time alone in caves speaking to the walls and dancing shadows, than I have trying to learn about the people I was supposed to help and understand better than they understand themselves. This game is no failure; I'd consider it a 'frustrating masterpiece'.

Weren't the giants just a volcano interruption, ashes darkening the sky and food not growing, sun eclipse and Tsunamis from the ocean etc.. and the darkness is just her interpretation of her psychosis. The fat dude at the end also said he invented the giants to get back control of the people. Natural disasters were the real cause.

The problem is this game thinks it's much more clever than it is. It's really not that hard to understand what's going on, and the game even heavy-handedly explains the whole "giants are a metaphor" thing.

I don't like the ending because it's too self-aware and out of the blue. In the game where everything is up for the interpretation, such a sudden twist is just not good imo. Now we know for certain that she WAS IMAGINING things, huge part of HB1 and 2 was a fever dream, and I would prefer them to never answer these questions rather than doing that in such an up in your face, unrefined manner. At least, they could have done it better and later down the path, in the third game, with better set up and hightened stakes. She wasn't questioning giants existence ONCE during the whole game, she WASN'T poisoned by the FEAR of locals, because she saw giant Hela in the first game, and she was REINFORCED in her belief that she is the one to bring giants down. I wish they went a different route with this, full Hela route, making her feel for the giants/former people/monsters, carrying their pain and waging war against the Gods/powerful human beings all the way til Ragnarok slash final revelation which very well could have been this very twist. But now they are cutting off all of that, to pursue what? Mixing it up with the mythos further won't be as impactful and meaningful, because now we know - she is just seeing things. Devs did a massive mistake imo. Rip Hellblade 3.
