This time it's not fantastic Al Jardine who sings the lead vocals but DENNY WILSON who would be 70 years old today !

This came from the period where Dennis had injured his hand and was no longer able to drum. He and Mike Love essentially acted as co-frontmen who didn't play instruments and Ricky Fataar took over drumming until Dennis was healed enough to return to drumming. Dennis did play some keyboard until 1974 when he started drumming again when Fataar left the group.

I like hearing Dennis sing lead in this version. He has that bluesy, gravely sound to his voice, If he were a musical instrument he would be a Saxophone and Carl would be a French Horn. Brian? Maybe a flute.

Brian's voice deteriorated exclusively to drugs and alcohol. He lost his falsetto and needed Carl's help to get higher but otherwise his deterioration was not as serious as Dennis. Dennis was also punched in the throat by Stan Love or Rocky Pamplin because he gave Brian some drugs. That was what made him permanently raspy. Even though the cause of it is tragic, I think it added a soulful quality to his voice that reminded me of Joe Cocker.

Oh boy did he ever... thanks Dennis for all the memories you still after so many years continue to give us... you are missed! 💜🏄🎸

Th' bulk of the comments say it in one way or another & that's cuz it's the TRUTH:::: Dennis was the epitome, the icon, the maverick, the king of cool, the Beach Boy who's real life (early on) was the personification of the mythical dream that those killer early tunes represented. No1 I mean N•O^O•N•E came close to the appeal of Dennis;; of course ya can't deny ol' blue eyes-Sinatra, Elvis,,,, but Dennis's finesse/charisma was all his own. Yeah I was born almost 2 year after his demise & my devotion to the Beach Boys began just prior to the despised Summer in Paradise but that said devotion has been strong allgoddamnway thru/ only difference is I know where t'draw the line-- outta 28 total albums (which is a bogus number, it's quite a few less) there's an even 14 essential/classic & timeless & 14
