Spencer Dinwiddie got traded to the Dallas Mavericks after a demoralizing stint with the Wizards, but now it looks like he's been the missing piece they needed all along.

This is scary because it really shows how important a perfect fit is for Non Star players in the NBA. If Dinwiddie kept playing like he was in DC he would be out the league in 2-3 seasons max. We saw this with I.T and Lance Stephenson as well and even Carmelo to a degree. Just think about how many NBA caliber players are cut from the league who could be flourishing

i remember when him and D'Lo were both on the Nets in 2019, and there were legit conversations about how Dinwiddie may have been better than D'Lo (no one actually believed them but it was a topic for a while) bro was a bucket off the bench and one of the reasons why that Nets team made the playoffs; it was basically like having D'Lo lite off the bench since those 18/19 Nets, i've been backing Dinwiddie; maybe Washington just wasn't the place for him

Spencer playing really well could also be a sample size situation. Just watching this video I could see that he's kind of taking the same shots that he was taking in Washington except he's hitting them. Maybe he wasn't feeling it in DC and maybe he's kind of feeling it now and he'll come back down to earth. Like most things the answer is probably somewhere in the middle. Your defensive rating improves when the opponent is constantly pulling the ball out of the net instead of off the backboard. We just made a lot of shots with him. Surprisingly it should improve with Wood. Doncic-Dinwiddie-Finney Smith-Wood and Bullock might create the best regular season offense of all time. Statistically. The playoffs are a whole different animal. That will require McGee, Kleber, Green and Ntilikina to play roles as defensive stoppers and ball sharing pickers and slashers.

It would have been INCREDIBLY difficult to appreciate the Dinwiddie trade like it is now prior to the knowledge that he panned out so surprisingly well for the mavs. He was looking his lowest of lows as a player for the wizards just before the trade, having his worst year. Had been a benchwarmer at times, then tore his achilles, and it wasn't even known by professionals if he'd ever recover enough to even hold an NBA roster spot afterwards. So you're saying, you knew and were telling everybody that you knew it was going to be a great trade from the beginning. Dinwiddie having the best year of his entire career, helping the mavs make a deep playoff run. Seems legit

even though Mavs let go of KP, I believe, they'll find another 7 footer very soon, besides Boban. Ever since I started following the Mavs, I believe, there's always a 7 footer sitting on their bench, either a rotation player or just sitting there to cheer for the team 🤭🤭

You didn't mention one of the most important factors for the change in Dallas: Chemistry. With KP there was none between him and Doncic, and not just on court but also outside of it.

Can you do a video on the timberwolves? They’re a lot better than they use to be, just not sure how.

They look a like Harden's Rockets or gsw system but eventually other team will catch up with them or score more than them by attacking the paint.

he was in a toxic environment with wizards. with obnoxious teammates and prob coach as well, it affected his mental state so his game was not there

They do my boy Dinwiddie wrong. He is a perennial trade piece but he is cold! Just like Ish Smith

So how about now? Add Wood and McGee and perhaps what was a weakness is now a strength. We still have Luka, Dinwiddie, Bullock,Finney Smith and Hardaway. We might be the best team in the NBA now if Hardaway and Bertans return to shooting over 40% from three and Green and Ntilikina Give us the perimeter defense we desperately need. Hoping for the best because this team needs everyone to be healthy and good to compete in the West.

Spencer is one of my favorite PG. And the wizards was a terrible team to be on. Im glad he got traded into a better situation and a better team. I personally dont think he wasnt welcomed there and it seemed there couldve been favorites among the wizards organization.

He had rust in his game at the wizards. That and Dallas better fits his game style.
