My inspiration for this video came from @lolopEffect and his video entitled is below:
Why MOST Black Americans Don't MOVE TO NIGERIA?A Nigerians the Most Hated Black People in the World?
• Why MOST Black America...
In my honest opinion, there are a few reasons why African Americans are not visiting Nigeria or repatriating there versus other opportunities like Ghana, Tanzania, and South Africa.

The truth is the volume of Nigerians in the diaspora who return home every year compensates for whatever visits it miss from other areas. From Late November through December, almost all AirBnb in Lagos were booked out with the volume of people coming in. Nigeria technically doesn't 'need' outsiders. Even if the volume of people going to Ghana come to Nigeria, they'd just be swallowed up in the crowd. We are that many! We have more concerts in December in Lagos than several African countries put together. What Nigeria craves is investment in businesses that will take advantage of the huge population.

Just got back from Nigeria this month. That visa process is a monster I agree. If you try to get a visa on arrival they will do it but you have to know a business person it's a business visa. for Married people who are married to a Nigerian they can get a visa for the length of their passport so if you are American married to a Nigerian with a 10 year PP they will give you a 10year visa but it takes two months and a lot of paperwork. The homes there are the best, Lagos is off the chain fun fun fun. Even the mainland is improving it's infrastructure. but visa is hard and that airport coming and going is a pure mess. Other than that I Love Nigeria. Especially Bolagun market.

@@215RANDOM , you would still need a visa to get into Nigeria. It doesn't matter where you are flying from. Nigeria is practicing a retaliatory visa process with other countries especially the US, Canada and European countries. This means that because these countries and the US visas are difficult for Nigerians to get, they will also make Nigerian visa difficult for citizens of these countries. I am a Nigerian, and I live in Asia. For many Asian citizens, the process of getting a Nigerian visa is very easy, and the cost of the visa is also very cheap. Get your Nigerian visa before you leave the US, or you will have difficulty entering Nigeria.

If I had to consider where to live outside of America, I would hope that living in Nigeria or Japan could be a possibility. I am put off by the devastating assaults on large groups of Christians and the kidnappings of whole buses of children that I hear about. Despite the huge population, there is still a lot of space in Nigeria for the African diaspora to return to and settle. People have to look beyond Lagos and Abuja. Any serious AA who really wants to return to the motherland and completely feel at home has to move to Nigeria. Still the cheapest country to live in in Africa. Regular White, Lebanese and Chinese people are living and surviving comfortably in Nigeria. AA will even have it easier because the can blend in seamlessly.

But from what I have heard others say, just getting through the airports (mainly Lagos) is a turnoff for them wanting to visit again. I work with a guy from Togo and I told him that I wanted to visit Nigeria. He responded that Nigeria has all kinds of problems and is not good to visit. So if a West African (born and raised only 100 miles from Nigeria) tells me that Nigeria is not good to visit, should I listen?

It's quite simple, Nigeria does not have a well curated tourism sector. The country's not marketed or curated for proper tourism like say Kenya or Tanzania for example. Then you throw in the difficulty of navigating within the country, especially for a tourist, and finally the population. A lot of the natural tourist attractions are not taken care of, so it ends up not being a usual destination for tourists.

They have to be missing out on at least 10 million dollars in tourism money each year just off of the Visa process being so discouraging. I got the link now so I can get up in that bih like whoa. Nigerians in the diaspora, particularly America, are not great representatives of their people. I visit Nigeria (Lagos) often and I love it and I love Nigerian people. They are hospitable, warm, vibrant, spirited, cultured... Yes, you can be frustrated by some idiots but to be honest, I almost feel like the 'bad' ones are just louder. The visa process is horrible, too, but the Naija government is very tit for tat and I rate it lol. If you make things hard for them, they make things hard for you! Yes, there is corruption but at the same time, again, I get it; they're ambitious, poverty is rife, they want the good life like anyone else! Other nationalities engage in corruption daily but they just don't have the reputation. Again, Nigeria suffers from bad press.

To add to my comment below, and add to the experience on getting a Visa, the process is usually a breeze for me! I do believe because I am connected with the right folks and they know some folks in immigration(honestly I don’t know what the process is behind the scenes 😂), but I pay my money and they do whatever they do and I arrive with no issues(AS AN AMERICAN CITIZEN), I do the visa on arrival process. I usually get through that quickly less than an hour. I even brought my mom and aunt last year. Now I will say I do pay close to 400 for my visa, but I’m ok with it. The experience that I get is invaluable! I mean come on I was riding a boat along the coast to get to the Badagary Slave Route. Otherwise, I believe if I had to go through the Visa process traditionally and figuring everything out, it would probably be challenging for me. It would probably still be on my bucket list today.

Black Americans are intrinsically American . We aren’t under any obligation to visit Africa. Generally travelers travel by proximity. Europeans spend most of their tourist dollars traveling in Europe. Japanese tourists spend most of their tourist dollars traveling in Thailand, and Indonesia. Proximity is the biggest factor the destinations people travel. Black Americans spend most of their tourist dollars within the states family vacations, travel to Mexico, and Caribbean islands and Europe. All of these places are closer proximity to continental North America. For example the country of Morocco their 2 top tourist destinations is France and Spain. Spain and France is closer proximity than most African nations to Morocco. Is anyone saying Moroccans hate themselves since they choose to vacation in France or Spain instead of another African country or Arab state. The state of Nigeria top tourist destination in continental Africa is Ghana. Makes sense it is close proximity.

Good video. True about the visa requirements which are long and even onerous including having to know a citizen there and needing an invitation letter etc. However, as a Nigerian who has lived there and visited many times and from hearing from many people from different parts of the world overseas, by personal observation the number reason is the bad publicity comprising of the perceived risk of danger and the fear of being scammed and being turned off by the latter. Even if visa issues were less problematic, the bad press regards the above is a huge factor - Fear. It's unfortunate because it's not like that if one employs commonsense in being there, listens to guides/relatives, and employs local wisdoms told. People are missing out if they dont travel to Nigeria.

We go there because we love the people. You get a few people who couldn't cut it here go over there and cry about this and that.
