I actually traded my G26 for the G36. Simply because the G36 fit me like a glove. My G26 was just too small and the G19 was just too big. The G43 & G42 is the same as the G36; just in different calibers. Its a Glock period. Just need to figure which one fits you.

RainmanE350 the 40SW is dead. It was developed to meet FBI and other Federal Plainclothes Law enforcement. I'm sure everyone knows the story. Well time passed powders are better, 9mm bullets are better so the 40 terminal ballistics are not that far ahead. Yes I know they can be. However the big issue with the 40SW is it's too big in a double stack. On personal knowledge I know how many Sigs in 40SW were put back in the regional office gun safes after agents found the gun to be too large to hold on to. These agents were mainly female agents, smaller frame males. And due to the absolute necessity to have cross individual magazine swap capability, everyone carries the same thing. This grip issue get worse shooting with gloves on, support side swap and or distressed shooter and odd shooting positioè

Lol its far from dead .its picking back up in popularity! Folks are doing there own test , other than gell, like carkus from slaughter houses and finding out the 9mm is all hype and the .40 is far superior and nine mm isn't half as good as folks made it out to be last 10 years .anyone is free to test for themselves for the truth .even .45 is better than nine , 200 grain plus p .45 in meat and bone target beats and nine mm. .40 beats them both in the real world .facts are facts ..solid proof is just that and folks free to test for themselves , not just a opinion

@@Otskel You can't buy extended magazines for a Glock 36. You can only buy a Pearce +1 magazine grip extension. So it makes it now a 7 round magazine instead of a 6 round magazine. It also extends the grip.

Hey Hickok, finally purchased my first Glock yesterday. I went with the 23 and feel pretty good with the cartridge. Question for you though, it says it holds 13 but im having a problem getting the 13th in there. Is this common? Do I need to break in the mags? This is a great video. I totally agree with all the reasons a 23 or 19 might be better. But I carry a 36. I guess its a "niche" gun. I wholly understand that the 40 and even the 9 are great calibers, even compared to the .45. At least nowadays with the newer ammo. I'd probably say the .45 still has an edge, but not by much. Certainly not enough to be willing to cut the amount of rounds you carry by 1/2. So why do I carry a 36? Because I love the how thin it is in my hand and allows me a more proper grip while reaching the trigger. But mostly, its because I get this "warm, fuzzy" feeling that other cartridges dont give me. I'm old school I guess. I know it makes no practical sense, but the firearm you carry ought to make you feel secure. Of course, I carry a spare mag in a Snagmag. So thats my EDC. Not to be confused with a duty gun.

@theKGB65 12 жыл бұрын
Chose the G36 not only for it's slimmer, slightly shorter grip and 1/4 LB less loaded weight than the G23, but mostly for it's large-diameter hole making capability. Hollow-point cavities have a pretty high likelihood of clogging when passing through heavy jackets and layered clothing commonly worn up here during winter months. Not 100% sure whether or not my choice was the best one possible for my situation but I have to say that the selection process you described here follows solid logic.

Hickok, I agree with your assessment however, in the past I have always had huge difficulty with .40 caliber accuracy and I gave up on it a few yrs ago. I am very good with 9mm and .45 but really thinking of going with the 27 over the 26 but fearful of accuracy issue "even though average self defense scenario is 6-7'. Are there any recommendations you can share with me to help shoot a .40 more accurate. Keep in mind I do have smaller hands and not hear what you have LOL. I usually shoot my 1911's with thin grips. Thanks...Jimmy:)

Great comparison sir! I appreciate the G36. It is what it is. Still I run a G26 & get 11+1 in my carry gun. If I were looking for a .45acp I would consider those S&W scandium 1911 Commanders. 8+1 & still pretty light weight. A good holster for would make it easy enough to carry. Thanks for the video!

I got one used for a really good price ($380+Tax) The capacity doesn't bother me (most 1911's are only 7 or 8+1 and aren't as concealable as the 36 *shrug*) FOR ME, it was the right choice.

Very interesting video. I have a Glock 36 largely because I do have small hands and the thin felt good. I carry a 27 far more but I do like the 36. Oddly enough I compared it more to the 1911 in 45 acp more than to the 40's. I have two 1911's for range work, history, and just fun shooting at paper targets. But I would probably be more comfortable carrying a Glock. If I needed thin, wanted a 45 and it was hot weather the 36 works for me.

Thank you for verifying my thoughts on the .40 vs .45. It is always nice to have a more experienced shooter agree. I got my wife the Glock 27 for her first carry gun. I never liked the 9mm and to me the .40 is just a great fit for her needs. Used to carry a S&W 4506 as a Police officer. Loved it. Would like another .45 but, the 1911 framed .45s are too large and I do not like to take my muzzle off the target to work the slide release. Any thoughts about an alternative would be appreciated.

@keltingr, yeah, more than likely it was struck with fragments of the copper jacketing - I find pieces of it all the time around the metal targets at the local range. You can see the circular pattern it leaves in the wooden supports, and the ground, from the thousands of rounds that have hit it.

Love your reviews Hickok 45. There’s one thing you didn’t mention one good reason to buy a 36, I used to live on the other side of the iron curtain in California just so happened I lived in a good county & I was able to get a CCW. I carried for many years there, and when you’re limited to 10 rounds the 36 fits very good under your belt and if you don’t have a Lotta rounds you want something that has energy and makes a big hole, 45ACP is the ticket. The other gun I carried was a stub nose 357 Smith and Wesson. Which I would carry in the winter with heavier clothing on my belt under a jacket, when the weather was warm that 36 with my crossbreed holster wasn’t even noticeable. I moved to the great state of Idaho several years ago Almost everybody carries a gun here Low crime friendly people. And my 23 fits in that same crossbreed holster.

Are there Talon sandpaper grips that would fit well to a HK USP 45 full size, or the P99 subcompact? Any brands that are easier to match grips to pistol types?

@CSLFiero How much power does that .357 have out of a 2 inch barrel? Tons of blast, sure, but that's not any help.

With the C models do you find the "flash" Very bright? I hear that it can be blinding in low light.
