Yeah it was outright nasty, should have been 5 mins or match straight away. There''s no place for players who do stuff like that. Good game otherwise, Swiss looks like a medal contender.

Unfortunately, they've done quite well almost every year in recent tournaments and then completely drop the ball once they move on to the playoffs. Last year, for example, they won all their group stage games and were then kicked out in the quarter finals ...by Team 🇺🇸, ironically, hahah

The first canada goal is a shame for this sport. Instead of getting a Power Play for them they should have gotten a power play against them. Kicking Niederreiter with the blade and later on ackting a dive is just poor and weak. Such a Loser Nr. 90.

Great game, was an amazing back and forth. Veleno has no place in this tournament after trying to injure Niederreiter though. The dive in the end made it even worse.

Unbelievable that the referees missed that part, it was so obvious. Let's hope IIHF does its job. Ban for the rest of the tournament.

@@AdvancedEdition It's just a shame that they can't go and check it afterwards. That's why they need to investigate it now. I'm more mad that they let him harass Niederreiter continually and then accepted the dive when he just tried to shake him off.

49.3. MATCH PENALTY The Referee shall, at their discretion, assess a Match Penalty if, in their judgement a Player “kicks” or “attempts to kick” an opposing Player. The consequence for this foul is a Match Penalty in any case where “kicking” is ruled, even if there is no contact. Four referees did not see a vicious foul from Goon Veleno which happened right in front of the puck, but then saw his dive as a foul. I hope he gets banned for the rest of the tournament, such a thing has no place in ice hockey

Amazing game!! As usual great entertainment when these two go ham on each other. Since the Olympics in Vancouver (2010), all of the Canada vs Switzerland games has been entertaining to watch. The development though out the years has been very interesting to follow. Congrats to the Swiss for another Canada victory.. It's becoming more and more common. Never though I was gonna say that to be fair. However perfect for the evolution of hockey. Keep it coming 😉

@@joedoggie9098 No no. I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. I will watch this tournament with the same enthusiasm, no matter who makes a team roster. A World Championship is a World Championship. Don't blame the world because the NHL is greedy. Honestly making up excuses like this is just silly. If you were representing a smaller country like my nation (Norway), I would understand your argument more. You have thousands of players to choose from. You could use a AHL or an ECHL team and be competitive. Canada has a huge choice of players. Even if you get to pick from top 200, you will have elite players. In Norway we have to think about extra problems on top of missing a player or more. This is the same for other underdog nations. Just this season we are missing 10 + players, and those players play in the second tier in Sweden or in the Norwegian Fjordkraft Ligaen lol. Technically we suffer more by absents than Canada this year. Norway beat Canada just a few hours ago. If you don't want any of those players, I'm sure other countries would be happy to accept them. Norway included lol! Winning with Zuccarello, or without Zuccarello, makes little difference. Same if you have Crosby or Macdavid. It might be more impressive, but overall beating the nation Canada means a hell lot more than beating a few individualists!!

Yeah, Our team unfortunatelly really weak this year. 2 Really good players got injured in 2 first matches, and other NHL stars didnt come. Its almost full of Czech Hockey league. Practically, we only score goals in our 1st formation, thats it :D. I hope you win this Cup honestly. I expect Finale Canada - Swiss and I hope you beat them again.

Switzerland looks more serious as a contender this year than ever. They're killing it! Will it be their year finally? As a Swede I think it would've been awesome. If hypotetically we were to face them in the final and lose I would be more happy for them than sad for us even. It would be so good for the sport, and needed! They've been close a few times in recent years and by how they've been playing so far... Watch out. Keep it up Switzerland :)

IIHF did not show the criminal action of Veleno No reaction by the IIHF like the referees. The action is just criminal! Imagine somebody tries to amputate your feet with a big knife. I am not sure were you come from, but in most civilised countries, you get jailed for years if you do that on the street. There is no excuse that is hockey. A lifetime suspension should be no discussion. Such persons should be charged with a crime for such actions. The IIHF and many hockey leagues have not arrived in the 21st century. Old systems and old processes. Why are there no video referees with the power to intervene!? Furthermore, the player is a side product of the NHL which does not charge so many nasty actions. If the Canadian team has any dignity, it suspends the player forever.

its like the summit series when bobby clarke went wood chopping.. but that is celebrated in Canadian hockey for some reason. the dive is also tremendous. not great. not great at all.

Yes and you know why? Because canada wasn't even punished after the attack by Venelo. And when the swiss captain complained, he got punished. And then Canada scored a goal. They deserve more than just some whistle. What a scandal! Canada deserved to loose!
