Crime is trending down because business are leaving and people doesn't care anymore to call the police. Crime statistics are thus lower. That don't means in any way that crime is down, only the statistics. In fact and probably, criminals have taken control of that area.

One night I was on the freeway next to Oakland and got off and went into Oakland to get gas. One look around and started looking for an on ramp. Get the heck out of there. Very dark at night.

I performed in the lounge in 81'. It was quiet, clean and very sparse. Month of January when most musicians were out of work. A Trio with a girl/keys from Chicago. Drummer had a baby the first night. Felt bad for his wife. He was very nice. Management was awful and I retired early. Said I would never work there again................thank god. Crime was nill and it was quiet, safe.

There was a time when I was the acting Chief of Internal Medicine at Naval Hospital, Oakland, served cancer patients with visits to their city center homes, and even flew my person small airplane into that airport, having no fear. Today I wouldn’t go within 30 miles of that place. Perhaps the airport grounds could be used by the city to built a huge jail there and extremely tough and judicial system delivering long, long sentences, not letting any perpetrator go unpunished can return Oakland to is former glory on 3 or 4 generations. Continuation left wing liberal politics will be like pouring gasoline on a forest fire.
