GYPSY TALES

5 ай бұрын

This past weekends San Diego round of Supercross sparked some of the most controversy the sport has seen in recent memory when Jett Lawrence confronted one of the sports veterans Jason Anderson for a post race helmet grab. Anderson was unhappy with what followed and took to Instagram to speak his mind, opening a hug can of worms in the process. We recorded this podcast Thursday night to set the record straight...
\
Before we get into this episode though, I wanted to share with you some awesome news regarding our first ever race, the Gypsy Tales 500.
Vurbmoto and Gypsy Tales are putting on an 8hr Grand Prix style event in Mesquite, NV. Using one of Gypsy’s favorite events, Australia’s Transmoto series, as inspiration, this will be an 8hr team or solo (for the Savages) race with your boys (or girls). The course will consist of a tamed down moto track and off-road loop, averaging 20 min lap times. The goal? Have fun, kick some beers and race your buddies. It’s worth noting this is a 125cc and Up race, no mini bikes allowed.
As far as the course goes, it will be part moto, part off-road - Sunday’s loop will be a unique course with an average lap time of 20 minutes. The loop will include terrain for the average rider along with a tamed down motocross track with no mandatory jumps. Again, this is a vibe race and will be built for all rider disciplines.

Money no doubt plays a role - not every parent can afford a dirt bike for their kid... let alone a track in their backyard. But the most valuable thing Haiden "inherited" is the genetics, mentality, disipline and guidance of a dad who's an absolute beast... not just on a bike, but also in "life." (and an ultra-supportive Mom who keeps him grounded and respectful). Unlike a lot of other kids, Haiden has 'honored" all this good fortune... by absolutely working his ass off to fully leverage it. Absolute respect for all involved.

Brain Deegan was broke AF SO were Jeremy Steinberg and Bubba Stewart. Living in trailer parks. Look at where they are at. Your comment is out of jealousy, not logic. If you don't have it, you don't have it. They were riding used cheap outdated dirtbikes. Money doesn't play sh*t to make it. Your work ethic as a kid is what makes you a superstar. Mowing lawns and buying a used dirtbike. Putting in the work is all it takes. If you're good enough a sponsor will pick you up. Stop robbing these guys of their hard work with your BS excuses which is why you are not them. You have an excuse for everything rather than taking accountability and saying "I'm not as driven as they are." That's why I'm just a spectator. Your first sentence is 100% out of jealousy.

@@FarmerFpv I dont think you read my whole post. For the most part I agree 100%. These guys have worked their assess off to get where they are. Motocross and freeriding is "tough" and it creates incredibly tough people - not just physically, but in terms of life and business too. That said, Haiden has definitely been a beneficiary of Brian's hard work and business acuman w/ respect to the financial resources he has acumulated and industry expertise. As I mentioned, the admirable part, is that Haiden has also worked his ass off to fully leverage those advantages. He's creating his own legacy!

Deegan coulda grown up with a billion dollars. That money won’t help his mentality, strength, and pure skill on the dirt bike. He is good and he worked for that ability. He has never been to line feeling like he didn't have the best bike or being underprepared due to lack of training, riding time, or money. Neither would end up on the street if it doesn't work out.

It’s not all about money specifically, but your average blue collar dad/son combo (even if they work twice as hard the Deegans) competing against Brian/Haiden, is like a man with with a 1970s ski boat entering an offshore boat race. This isnt skateboarding or basketball where making big strides in the sport is very egalitarian. These days, competing in top level moto takes money, a fully dedicated family, location where they reside, industry connections, etc. Haiden got to start life/his moto career on third base. Not acknowledging that fact is taking away from racers like Villopoto, Anderson, Lawrence brothers, etc. Sure, Deegan has worked hard in the clear path that was cut out for him and has exploited his genetic talent. But I find it far less impressive than families like the Stewarts or Carmichaels who came from near nothing, to change the sport forever.
