This interview with Ivan is fantastic. One question I wish IT had been asked was to compare the PC racebikes of yore with current or recent production 250F's and in what way they compare to his old bikes. I heard Mitch said that the 2012 KX-F was a powerful as those first-gen 250F racebikes.

Brilliant title Jase. The core fans clicked immediately ( I mean we click no matter what ) but a lil faster this time because we thought we were getting this recent secret that started halfway thru motorcross this past season. Or maybe it was just me who thought that 😂. Anyway goooood ish as usual my man 🤙🏼

Well, I say it was bait and switch, and dishonest. But i really did not expect Ivan and this fuzzy guy to talk about valve timing.

I had the opportunity to see a factory Suzuki 125 we took the engine apart and saw they were using a stroker crank so they could use a stock piston.

Back in the early 90's, Kawasaki was the first to use a semi van and I saw it at Red Bud. I asked a mechanic if my buddy and I could take a tour inside, and he told us to come back in a hour when the fans cleared out a bit. So we did, and he let us in the semi trailer. Then he left us alone in there, and there ti was, a ported cylinder for Mike LaRocco's sitting on the bench. I started poring my own cylinders so I picked it up and stared checking it out, (not much work, just clean up). Then Big Daddy LaRocco walked in from the cab end of the trailer,---and kicked us out. :)

It has a horsepower effect at the wheel because you're reducing inertia and drag through lightening and polishing the rotating components, so it's very possible to see a couple hp at the wheel from trans mods.

For durability yes, and maybe better shifting. But they run on the same bearings so not much change in friction. Just the imagination.

I was working at a Honda dealership in ‘02 and we had a privateer that was getting some HRC secrets. The oddball stuff we were doing was wild. Different years cylinder, pistons and heads with very specific fuel and porting. It was such a pain in the ass to get those things fast 🤣

@mx-bmx-lyfe dreaming, I had Hondas from 99 to 2002, they were shit slow, shit shit slow, 40 bhp no chance at all ..ignition, Reed block, porting, pipe and fuel still no chance of 40 bhp, I know because I did all that ..shit bikes, rattle can clutch baskets as well..Best thing those cr 125 have is the front brake that's it.

@DragnBarZ yea and they handled amazingly but they didn't have much top end. Especially after a whole season of racing, my bike was just sluggish. I rented out budds creek and could hold the bike wide open the entire track. I hadn't yet changed the top end though. The 07 kx250f I had the previous season had a strong motor but felt heavy as a 14yr old and long motos were difficult

A built transmission doesn't make horsepower but it does make it faster revving easier shifting. I would guess thats a huge advantage
