You are not crazy when talking about Reprieve/Remand and Dreadhorde Arcanist. But that wording is specifically for Flashback.

I know swiftspear isn’t a wizard and all, but shouldn’t it just be getting jammed in there anyways? The haste feels like it can be really good with the ring stuff. Although in all honesty, it might just be that this deck wants x creatures, and you already have the best x already. I play against this deck more than I play with it, after all.

Swiftspear not being a wizard is a liability with so much of the Wizards matter spells (even before Anor) and the haste is not particularly valuable in this shell compared to mono-red where you don't have as much ability to refill your burn spells. Soul-Scar's shrinking of big creatures is a nice secondary effect after its Wizard synergy as well.
