I remember hearing some lore related stuff about the Hero of Kokoto and how he fought that Monoblos for 7 days straight. How I imagined that fight is,the chief had red sharpness and no wet stones left so he smacked the monoblos for 7 days, constantly bouncing off untill he finally managed to chip down its health to 0 xD

1:50 I had a different run myself. I've been with the game since it was reworked into a PsP game with Monster Hunter 1 for PsP. Originally, my friends wanted me to pick it up and join them on hunting, I thought I would just do it myself but they insisting on doing it in a group. When I got it, first off, it wasn't long before they went straight into MH2 before they ever raised their Hunter Rank once in MH1, I ended up figuring out how to unlock the rest of the Guild Hall quest and was the only one to make it to G rank in the first game (then that PsP had the memory stick in it stole out of the break room at my work place). So I joined them late to MH2 but they hadn't increase their hunter rank yet... but everytime I wanted to hunt with them, they each 'already hunted what I wanted to hunt' or 'were done hunting for the day'. I ended up doing hunts solo and ended up going higher in rank than them. Its actually a game of multiple worlds really and that's the true beauty and genius of Monster Hunter. The group and solo hunting worlds are like two different games in one, yes in a group you have others that can help you to understand, but I feel I truly feel the essence of the game walking both worlds (group and solo). It's awesome basking in the glow of something 5 times your size falling to the ground by your blade alone, but even that doesn't take away the splendor of doing it as a team... you still feel powerful in both cases. Main weapons- LS/DB/IG Main play weapons- GS/GL/CB

Monster Hunter Tri was actually the first Monster Hunter game to break 1 million sales outside Japan, despite being drastically overall lower sales than Unite, and was really the turning point that showed capcom that, yes, there is an actual audience for the game globally. Then there was the unfortunate portable 3rd incident immediately afterward.

Hey, welcome to the channel! While Tri and 3U were definitely popular, I believe it was 4U to first break 1 million sales as an individual series in the west, with Tri and 3U following afterward. (Sorry for the long read) When Fatalis got announced for Iceborne it made me want to go fight him in the old world as a kind of challenge to myself to earn the right to fight the new one, so I bought MHF for my PSVita and started my journey to G rank, I made it through all the Village quests and up to high rank in the Guild quests before the grind really took its toll on me, there were a couple quests where I only barely passed before time expired and at that point I thought that there must be some way I can play this online. At first I tried ad-hoc party on PS3 with a guy I met on the gathering hall discord who wanted to play MHF online too but we had no luck with it, I don't know if the servers had been shutdown or what but we could not get it working, after that he told me about something called X-link Kai which I didn't really understand and apparently I would need a special adapter that could be pretty hard to get. So I kept searching and that's when another guy on the gathering hall discord told me about HunsterVerse, I looked it up and although the website looked a little dodgy I went through the step by step and it was actually really easy to set up, I had more trouble setting up PPSSPP and MHF since I wasn't familiar with game emulation, once I was all done I connected to HunsterVerse and loaded the game and headed to the gathering hall and there I saw... a name in the corner of my screen... another player, not an NPC but an actual person, so I started a quest and they joined and their character appeared next to me and it was glorious, the will to hunt grew inside me then and my journey to G rank continued. For the next week or so the hunts got easier and I started preparing for Fatalis by improving my armour and weapons and stockpiling supplies, I'd also met a few different people and exchanged guild cards with them, the player base is small for MHF but there are a dedicated few who like to help those who need it including a Spanish guy who didn't really talk in the HunsterVerse discord but was incredibly helpful nonetheless, he helped me repel Lao to get into G rank and it was after that when I saw it, THE FATALIS QUEST, I wasn't expecting to see it so soon but there it was right in front of me, I of course dove straight in to test the waters, I could feel the might of the beast as he flew down and into Castle Schrade and then... he... wiggled at me and the sheer force of his toe bumping my leg killed me instantly. So back to preparation I went, I made some decent G rank gear to help me survive some of Fatalis' attacks and also to keep my Sharpness skill, i also went to the desert to mine for an ancient stone that could be forged into the worn blades that I could upgrade into the Eternal Schism which I'd heard were really good for fighting Fatalis, then the day before Fatalis' Iceborne release I got a team together off of the HunsterVerse discord, there were 3 of us with dual blades who were all there for our first Fatalis kill and one veteran who came along to paralyse Fatalis with his bowgun to give us openings to get some good hits in, the fight was tough, Fatalis was brutal and tanky, it was dodge or die with most of his attacks even with G rank gear, we also had to resupply our gunner every so often since he could only carry so much ammo. 9 tries and 4 hours later we were weary, we'd used 2 faints and were about 30 minutes in when one of us was stuck against the wall and was about to get wiggled HARD when suddenly those words appeared on screen "You won the battle!" we... we did it, I was so caught in the moment that I missed 2 of the 9 carves but it was over, the beast was slain, the world was saved, for another day at least, there was about an hour or so until Iceborne Fatalis' release but it could wait until tomorrow, it was late, we were tired and we had earned our rest.

Nostalgia is hitting me so hard :') My first contact with this series was the demo of monster hunter ps2, that capcom put inside "Devil May Cry 3" case. At first look I thought it was cool, but I was not so sure about it. Maybe it wasn't the game for me. Few months later I went to my local shop and found by accident an used copy of monster hunter and I bought it. Probably the best choice of my gamer "career". I finished the game solo, unfortunately didn't play it online, it was impossible, no internet at the time :( , so had no possibility to fight big guys like fatalis or kirin. But one day capcom did the miracle, releasing mh freedom for PSP. Talked to two of my friends and explained them why I was so excited and convinced them buying a Psp just for this. We lost entire afternoons playing this, mhf2 and unite, so much fun. But short after I lost sight of my friends, you know, you grow up, different schools... It was probably the worst period of my life, feeling lonely, went through depression, really sad times. I was too introvert and struggling having any kind of relationship. Then I had the luck to know a group of friends, huge fans of the series and I started playing with them. Finally I was happy again. We played together all the upcoming mh games, from mh3u to mh world, and now Rise. Monster Hunter helped me going through adolescence, depression, helped me with making new friends and still is nowadays an important part of my life. Can sound stupid but I will always be grateful to Capcom for this series.

I love old classic Monster Hunter. The more slow and grounded pace without the flashy anime stuff. I really liked gathering material in nature, though I admit that it's a huge waste of time. But it made the world feel more alive. But those first games were so god damn clunky. In MHF you get a tiny box and with tiny stack limits. Super frustrating going back. And I love how fucking strong SnS was in MHF. You could make another series looking at details like these.

Ahh good old days. I started at MH1 to MHF and that game is literally going to teach you how to become a hunter. Not just monster hunting, but survival. It's literally going to ask you to use logic and tactics, or else you'll fail the quest. I will NEVER forget those hard quests such as bring a sootstone ore, or bring a wyvern egg.. It ain't those wyverns the problem. It's those annoying bullfangos, 3 primary colored raptors, and large insects, FFS! So far my most memorable and challenging quest is that "Troublesome Pair" especially as just a Hunter rank 1 with low level gears. I literally used everything I learned to beat that quest that took me 10 or more tries...

I started with MH 4 on 3ds, but gave up after hours and hours of fighting the one dallmudar. as after beating the story, you had to kill that to get to the elder hall. Every time I fought it, I ran out of time, no matter how hard I tried to optimize the fight, I used the strongest weapons and armor available but I couldnt beat it, it was impossible. I remember taking out the fatalis, frenzied sergious, rajang, even the hard diablos with relative ease. I got all the equipment available, but the dallmudar was just next level.

Not because it was easier, but because the health bars instantly depleted to where it was meant to be, while FU had this gradual depletion throughout your recovery period which really threw me out of whack

I remember been given my first MH game, (MH3) from my grandfather almost ten years ago, and I had no idea how to even play the damn game, so I left it on the shelf for two years. But after hearing the news about MH3G and how the series is impacting the world at that time, I decided to give it a second try (not an intentional joke, I swear) and after slaying my first Great Jaggi in the arena, I felt something that I thought I would never feel until that part... Satisfaction. Once that was done, I slew the Qurupeco and Barroth in the arena as well and quickly started my save file. That game was the shit back in the day.

The video is super cool, but i deeply disagree with the fact that the series is stronger when playing with friends. I loved monster hunter freedom. At the time, i tried playing online but it felt so unpersonal with the monsters. Even today in mhw and with the quality of life of online, i feel it just makes the win less rewardable.

I think socially the game thrives through being a cooperative experience. But there is definitely an appeal to the solo content
