Initially I was thinking like the same. After I bought hmt Kohinoor handwind watch., it is really very nice. Ofcourse I agree with your thoughts. At that 3000 cost , of hmt Kohinoor, I would have bought Titan with date and day complication. Having said that, titan majorly made & making quartz watches which is very very cheap to make. Even platform side watches of costing 250/- is also made of quartz. Now, why I am impressed with hmt. 1. It is a mechanical watch. Ask a watch repairer which watch is easy to fix....and has long life, quartz or mech?. 2. It is fun to handwind everyday or every two days morning after taking bath, before wearing on wrist. 3. It's finishing is too good , very light weight inspite of having mechanical moving components inside it. I myself feel....Kohinoor, Pilot models should have atleast date complication in it. I even bought 1994 year , hmt fully automatic watch from other source. Believe it or not, it works so good. That fully automatic, Rajat , Kanchan models are not available now in hmtwatches.in Pls don't decide the watch from its website as the pic quality is too much poor. It looks like third class....lol. Always look at KZfaq, to judge the beauty of this watch. More to add., it is not only hmt is made in India product. 1. Titan 2. Logues 3. Maxima 4. Rhino All these brands are Indian watch companies and titan is exception. It makes automatic mech watches, but look at that price first and then have a glimpse on hmt. You will later understand why I am impressed with hmt watch and its price. Thx dude for reading it. I have been collecting, buying nice watches from 2014/2015. I do wear for me as well as gift them to my bro, sis and friends. So, I gained good knowledge on watch material and its performance.

Aranyak Maitra, what r u even saying? HMT watches r not overpriced at all. Yes the movement is not any modern movement or any advance movement but it's a reliable movement. What can u expect under 3000? Hmt kohinoor is available under 3000, hmt saathi and janata r available under 3500 and hmt pilots r available under 3800. U can't expect to have modern or fancy movement in such a price. Besides Hmt, name me 1 company that is giving u mechanical movements under 4000. U urself said Invicta watches uses the same complications like Hmt but what about the price of Invicta watches? There r priced more than double the price of hmt in America. In India it's priced even more as 3rd party sellers import them paying customs and sell it here after adding their separate profit margin. Invicta pro diver is the only watch that is recommended as other Invicta watches r not good enough & the price of Invicta pro diver is in India is 4 times more than hmt watches. Even in US the price is more than twice than hmt watches. Look is subjective. Yes, if u want a diver watch or field watch then hmt doesn't have that. But if u want a classy dress watch, the hmt watches r great. The kohinoor, saathi, some variants of pilot & janata are excellent looking. The jhalak is an excellent open heart watch with beautiful looks. I can't understand how hmt watches r overpriced. They priced much less than any mechanical watches available in the market. Can u name me any mechanical watch with Japanese movement that cost less than hmt watches? The movement is not new or fancy but it's reliable and a great movment for its price. The price should have been more for the movement hmt uses. Benyar or pagani design watches uses chinese movement & hmt movements r much reliable than them. It's old but still a trustworthy Japanese miyota movement. Many companies across the globe uses miyota movement. They r very reliable. The price is very less for a mechanical watch. Tell me can u find a open heart mechanical watch under 5000 except hmt? Then look a hmt jhalak. U may not like the look of hmt but several hmt r great looking watches. Look is subjective. If u like bulky watches or diver watches or field watces then hmt is not for u. U will not like the watch of hmt then. But in general hmt watches r great looking. If u want a dress watch then hmt is great. But yes, there r more beautiful dress watches at this price too. But they r quartz watches. Obviously quartz will be priced lower. They r good looking mechanical dress watches too but not at this price range. They r priced much higher. Besides hmt u won't even get any mechanical watch in such price. They r only some chinese mechanical movement watches in such price & their movements r not reliable. Pagani design & Benyar has cheap mechanical chinese movements in their watches & they r also priced much more than hmt. In a big sale only a few watches of them are available under 3000. Besides these two, there r some Chinese wathes that always give u cheap chinese mechanical watches under 3000 or 4000. But those chinese watches r not reliable & Benyar & Pagani design r chinese brands & r also not that good unless u want a homage watch. Homage watches r replicas of famous watches from rolex, patek phillipe, etc. The wath will not be good but they will look like a Rolex or Patek Phillipe. Only in that case if u want a homage, then watches from those brands can be bought. Though their homage watches won't be reliable like an hmt watch & I would never buy a homage watch. Hmt is known for delivering such good quality movements in such a low price. They r known for their good quality movements, not for their looks. Though they look great too but there r better looking options in quartz segment.

Aranyak Maitra Hmt watches r not overpriced or expensive. They r actually cheapest mechanical watch available unless u want a crappy chinese mechanical movement. Hmt gives u a the cheapest option for mechanical movement. They r priced under 3000 or 3500. They r not overpriced. They use citizen Japanese miyota movement. It's an old movement but a great & reliable movement. Many watch companies around the world use miyota movement. Yes the miyota movement is old but at this price no company can give u a modern miyota movement. And though it's old it's a reliable & tested movement. If u take decent care of miyota movements, the watches last more than 50 years. So even if i bought the watch in 2000 when the movement was new, then also should have lasted after 2050. So at this low price u can buy it in 2022 also. Throw it if u want to after 2050. At this price even if u r getting a mechanical watch for 30 years it's a great deal since the price is very low when compared to mechanical movement. If u honestly think that hmt watches r overpriced then u should not look at mechanical watches at all and stick to quartz watches. Hmt watches r the cheapest mechanical watches. If that's overpriced for u then forget about mechanical watches and only buy quartz watches. Don't buy any cheap Chinese mechanical watch under 3000 as they aren't reliable. They can stop working very soon. Even with more than 10000 budget Chinese mechanical movement watches shouldn't be bought like Benyar or Pagani design. They r way more overpriced, uses very cheap movement and neither the watch material nor the watch movement is reliable. I have seen their watches claiming to be stainless steel or water resistant but in reality it's not. The movement is not reliable too. They r bought mainly as a homage watch or as a very stylish watch. They r stylish & good looking but severely overpriced & r not reliable.
