Not only sue for damages, but I would have called the police day 1. With deed showing ownership, they would've had to halt construction day 1 to cops.

Yes, this! Most people think the executive of the HOA IS the Hoa. Nope. Sure the executive board of the HOA can be sued but the HOA as a whole (all the sheeples who pay their dues, pay fines and keep their heads down) are in effect part owners of a corporation and can and should be held accountable. Don't go to meetings? Tough. Don't challenge mini Hitlers on the board? Tough. Let's see how much fun it is when a multi-million lawsuit results in huge payments owed by the members (AKA the Association). "That's a lien on you, that's a lien on you, that's a lien on you ...." If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem. If I was wronged in this way I'd go scorched earth. Then again, I'm not stupid enough to ever live in a HOA neighbourhood.

Yes, and saying she 'won' by them removing their damage so SHE could restore her land. That is not winning, nor teaching that HOA any lesson. At the bargaining table hew lawyer should have demanded total restoration and fees, if not let's go to court for the same and triple damages.

Those who trust HOA's need professional help, whether legal or otherwise. I wouldn't have let destruction of my property go for "days" but would have sued them for everything I could. Great stories, Ripe. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Story 1 is the reason I have always thought HOAs need to go by way of the dinosaurs. I grew up in an area filled with HOAs, there were two that went right up to the fence on both sides of my father's property, both of them tried every few years to scam or just flat out steal. One year they both took him to court saying he had signed off all his property to both of them, the signature looked absolutely nothing like his their defense "He's an old man so he forgot", every few years we would catch them with crews and we would have to call our attorney to make them stop destroying our property. When my dad died they both took us to court with fake af contracts stating he had left all his land to them. A L L HOAs are crooks.

Story 1, OP should have sued for everything possible, legal fees, mental & emotional damage and to force the hoa to restore the property to exactly how it was before, regardless of how much it cost them. As well as placing a restraining order against every member of the hoa to keep them away from OP & OP's property. Hopefully, that would be enough to force the hoa board members to sell their properties to pay off the fees, fines and penalties before moving away.

As to the first story op should sue that h o a jerk into poverty. As to the second story the contractor and landlord should be sued into poverty and the contractor should lose his license and be banned from the industry. The contractor and landlord need to be investigated fined heavily and possibly jailed. The landlord should not be allowed to be a landlord anymore.

WTF? He made a call then just waited a couple days for them to call him back so he could tell them to stop committing trespass and destruction of private property?! I’d call the cops and lawyers and go down to that office in person! What motivation do they have to stop ignoring him as they do as they please destroying his property if he’s not going to do anything about it?!

To story 1, the lesson is not what is stated. The lesson is in such situations contact your lawyer immediately and have them apply for an emergency injunction to stop the work, which is most jurisdictions can be granted day of

In Texas, some cities require that an HOA be established so they will not have to maintain common areas such as the medians, sidewalks and entry areas.

I'm confused by the last story. The law doesn't allow for someone to be asked to leave without due cause. And Karen "not feeling comfortable" doesn't make the cut as legal clause. Did the hotel call the cops and what legal cause did they site? If it was the hotel I never would have gone back but I would have posted on every social site including Yelp and the hotel's website.

These stories must be fake. Why do these homeowners always go outside and engage these people in conversation? If I see construction equipment tearing up my property, I call the cops. And yes, I'd sue them for the restoration of the land they destroyed. Why should I have to pay to fix it?

Construction plant doesn't just 'show up'. The land has to be surveyed, set out, environmental surveys, security fencing. Any development anywhere has to go through a lengthy planning process. Complete fiction.

I’ve personally seen an HOA pull a stunt like this without the proper permits or studies. The same HOA that fined me for having a lawn that was too green during a drought. I didn’t water it but knew how to maintain it because I owned an organic garden center that taught classes on water conservation and even worked with the public utility district to educate them on water management.

I don’t think this is real because no person in their right mind wouldn’t sue to have the land reverted back to original, or sue for damages. If it is true you ARE an idiot. If they wouldn’t stop construction I’d call the cops or come out with my firearm to show I’m serious. (not wave it around or anything stupid but make sure they can see it in my holster)
