I have the 16" AR Stoner barrel as well but with the pistol gas length and it is a good shooter. My favorite hand loads as of now is 17.8gr w296, Hornady brass, CCI 400, Hornady 125sst. I've taken it to 300yds with very consistent hits on my 12x8 steel. All with a Dead Air Sandman Ti suppressor. Your channel is my go to for 300blk. Thank you.

Wow! I just Independently did some very similar testing of CFE-BLK and Shooters World Blackout, with very similar results. I started just under recommended start load for supers and worked backwards in .5 grain increments. With my suppressed 11.5" barrel I reached subsonic at 12.5 grains of CFE-BLK and functioned the action perfectly all the way down to 10.5 where I stopped. Accuracy was much better for me though. I was using 168 grain HPBT I purchased in (blem) bulk from Midsouth Shooters.

I did a similar workup for both these bullets with great results, however neither of these bullets will expand under 1600fps making them useless for anything other than plinking for subsonic use. They over penatrate , ricochet terribly and they are very expensive for plinking use. Don't waste your time or money with either of these bullets for subs. I suggest Berry's Plated Bullets for plinking/practice and Hornadys Sub-x line of bullets for everything else.

the reason why it doesn't cycle right is due to the carbine gas length the 300blackout is optimized to shoot in a short barrel with pistol gas lengths. swap out the barrel for a 16 inch with pistol gas n a adjustable gas block n it will work either sub or super. That is just what I have learned personally

Older vid, but I think one thing you'll find is that CFEBLK really only produces low velocity spreads when it's in a compressed load. Uncompressed loads tend to have broad velocity spreads. That's unfortunate as it's a great powder for subsonic 300Blackout as far as gas and quietness is concerned. AA 1680 is also a very good 300 BLK subsonic powder, but it tends to be louder.

I wonder if your ES and SD would be much lower if you hadn't loaded so long (2.260"). I get trying to keep the bullet closer to the lands, but some powders don't do well with a lot of air space in the case. For instance, AA1680 data for the 220gr SMK is loaded to 2.089" and is a compressed charge. They must have chosen a short COAL for a reason. Hmmmm.... Excellent series so far.

Awesome video! I'll be starting some subsonic loads when I get closer to getting my AAC SD. I still need to get a Chrono. I only have H110 to use right now, but I will probably get some CFE BLK to try as well and compare them out of my 7.5" barrel if I dont wind up changing it out to 10.5" by them. I should also note mine is on a pistol lower and doesn't cycle very well since I dont have a stock to help keep it from "limp wristing". When braced properly it functions nicely though. I just want to make a 10.5" mini dissipator. Hahaha.

Have you chosen a chrono yet? I use the Caldwell Precision G2. It's not quite as handy as the MagnetoSpeed, but it's less expensive and it is accurate. I really like that I can save all my data on my phone for a quick reference to plug into my ballistics calculator.

Yeah, the hotter the primer the faster the powder burn rate will be, relatively speaking. CFE BLK and AA1680 that he mentioned are two of the powders recommended for the 22 Hornet. I use Lil'gun, and I'm experimenting with different primers at this time due to the behavior of Lil'gun changing as you reach/pass 100% load density (i.e. the velocity begins to plateau then drop before it goes back up).

I'm pretty new to reloading, and so far only reload for my 308. I write the powders and charge weights on each case for the work up. Best SD was 8.8. Since you didn't say how you keep track of what your charge weights are, I thought I'd mention it. My can is in NFA purgartory, but I should see it about the same time as SIG finally starts shipping the short barrel for the MCX in 300 BLK. I'm looking forward to see how the rest of this series goes!

I finally got some of this powder but haven't loaded anything with it yet. My 7.5 inch upper from bear creek does not like to cycle much of anything other than supers. I want to run subs through it but finding subs that cycle it difficult. At first it wouldn't extract. I switched to an ultra light bolt carrier and buffer, and reduced power spring, and now it will extract and eject but won't load the next round. The bolt gets stopped trying to strip the next round out of the mag. I switched to Lancer mags that are made for 300blk rounds, and the stoppages have reduced but aren't gone. I'm thinking of having the gas port bored out, even if I have to switch to an extra power spring, but that will cost so much that it will probably be cheaper to buy a new barrel.

Great video. However, I am having trouble with using the magneto chronograph and accuracy checking at the same time. Since the magneto was hanging off the barrel, it changes the barrels vibration notes along with a couple of other factors. I have often chronographed and check for accuracy at the same time, but have used an older or a crony. Have you checked accuracy with and without the magneto on the barrel of various firearms? Keep them coming and all the best.

Pistol gas is better! MUCH BETTER! I bought the carbine length barrel just because so many people were asking me for help because their guns don't run well. I basically bought it so I could show how much they suck! haha Carbine gas barrels are very picky about what powders will work with them. If you get a pistol gas you will have much better options and function. If anything you'll be a bit over gassed, but that's a hell of a lot better than a gun that won't run!

I've done some testing myself on a 8.5" suppressed system with 220 gr Sierra Match King HPBT. I know you were showing better accuracy with 12+ gr loads but I found as I reduce to 10.5 I was getting much tighter groups. My rounds are seated a little deeper I think at 2.181" COAL but not sure if this would have an effect with greater pressure. I'm really just looking for a reliable subsonic round to use in my suppressed rig so any ideas would be appreciated.

I shoot very slowly when I'm shooting groups so the barrel heat doesn't become an issue. The magnetospeed chronograph comes with a little heat shield for the strap but I normally don't need to use it.

It took about 4 minutes and 45 seconds for you to state what cartridge you are working up loads for. I believe it would be more helpfull to state the cartridge at the begining of the video. I almost clicked away from your channel.
