Early last year, I travelled to Adelaide to look at some of the older equipment still being used by Solo Resource Recovery. Solo still runs a handful of old bangers out of their North Plympton and uses them in their West Torrens and Holdfast Bay contracts. On the Wednesday morning, I headed over to Somerton Park and the first truck I ran into was #1608 knocking out the industrial parts of the run first.
A lot of these 2006 model Acco trucks originally had Finger Plate lifters but were later converted to the industry wide Grab arms. It's awesome how Solo still runs a lot of older trucks down in South Australia, but I do believe a lot of them will be replaced soon with newer trucks coming in. This particular truck was a former Onkaparinga truck and was later moved to Marion and West Torrens contracts. You will notice the Marion council logo is blocked out where the other council logos are on the body. I did ask the driver if he preferred the Grabs or the Finger Plates and he would take a Finger Plate lifter any day of the week over a Grab arm.
I did film a few of these old trucks on my trip, so stay tuned for more Solo action from South Australia. Cheers to the legend driver and Enjoy!!! ;) ;) ;)
