Nice blade balancer. Just to correct one point, which I'm sure you know and just misspoke at 5:15 _(or at least you seem to have misspoke with where you were pointing)_ . As to balance a blade, you have to grind/remove-metal from the heavy end, not the light end.

I think that was very generous of Terry and it seems like he put a good deal of work into the tool but the design is terrible with all the different collets (should have been a cone shaped spindle), and there is no need for all of the bearings which are producing far too much friction. Also, when you gave it a spin it's clear that the hub is not concentric.

Not sure if you just misspoke if you are Misinformed, but you grind off the side that comes down. The more material you grind off, it will return upward making it balanced.

Yes but a crankshaft does not spin true, but a big cast weight on the front looks uneven, but still balances the crank for anywhere from 5000 to 8000 rpm.

@@lyndonmansell351 no way no sir I would not trust it's. And I know a lawn mower engine only spins around 3600 RPMs. And even at that rate you going to throw a bearing

Really well done it looks just like the pro balancers other than they use a cone rather than bushings for the different size blade holes frankly I would be hard pressed to tell the difference excellent work!

It has too much friction to be very accurate. Plus, it has a wobble when you spun it up fast, so that will affect the measurement for blade being bent. Back to the drawing board

thanks for sharing the video! Kudos to you and Terry. The size bushing are cool. Wish I had the skills of a machinist. My brother in TX a machinist, and I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum. Just have one question. Around the 5:20 mark you show an unbalanced blade, make a comment about the heavy side going down but then point to the upper end of the blade which is the lighter end and stated that you'd have to grind more off that side. Is that what you intended to indicate?

I caught that as well. At 5:23, he indicates the light side of the blade to remove material from, instead of the heavy side on the bottom.

I designed the original blade balancer out of wood, ball bearings, and magnets. I made a video of how nice it works. Terry watched the original video and took my design and created it out of metal using a metal lathe. He was also generous enough to make one for me. What a great guy!
