I don’t care what anyone else on the planet says, the new generation Accord is aesthetically pleasing inside and out. I abhorred the looks of the prior gen except for the Sport trim - and even then, it pales in comparison now. I literally said to myself days ago that a vehicle looks good when all its trims look great, and every trim I’ve seen from base on up looks good on this current model; it’s “mature” and the “fastback” design has now been executed perfectly. I actually, for the first time, like the looks of every Honda model, except the Ridgeline. 🥴 The only thing lacking I believe is the output, but otherwise, it’s a homerun.

I had a new Accord hybrid as a rental for my week out at Monterey car week in August. I was shocked to find it in the rental fleet with only 150 miles on it, but one rarely gets good surprises from rental companies anymore. Mine was a Sport hybrid, so basically had everything your test car has except for leather and the Google system. It was so good that I went onto the web the first night to price one out. I think it came to about $32k. The cloth seats were quite nice, actually. Anyway, Tommy experience mirrored your review. The car far exceeded my expectations. I wasn’t driving slowly and encountered a ton of traffic but averaged 46 mpg for the week and one day saw over 50 mpg during my freeway slog. Impressive. If they made a wagon version or 5-door hatch, I would have bought one immediately. Alas, I can dream.

One of the best if not the best Hybrid systems out. Engine noise? What noise, this car is silent and when pressed it makes imo a sporty tune. I actually thinks it's a fun to drive car. The updated body structure provides one of the safest vehicles out and for the low 30's to just under 40k for the hybrid variants its an exceptional car.

Just found you guys. Very well done. You are definitely on top of your game when it comes to researching this vehicle. Better than most reviewers. Just one possible correction regarding the regenerative braking paddles. If you pull the left one until you reach your desired level of regen and hold it, it will default back to that every time you take your foot off the accelerator. I think you suggested that you pull it twice to set it to do this. I own the '23 Touring and can confirm that the mpg numbers are legit. After nearly 4000 miles in mixed driving, we are averaging 46.4 mpg in Eco driving mode and a lot of regen braking! Wisconsin winters and driving above 75 mph will cut that number closer to 40.

Every time I see piano black trim in a car, I want to take a fine sandpaper and sand it down to a matte finish. As for the exterior styling, the front end looks slightly unfinished to my eye. The relationship between the headlights, grille, and leading edge of the hood looks a bit slapdash. Maybe they can fix it with the mid-cycle refresh. But overall, I think this is my favorite midsize sedan on the market right now.

Hybrid performance aside, this is most exciting review of a very average looking, and very average driving car. Also, I'm getting tired of people thinking that a near $40K car is considered a good deal. That is well outside of most people's budget for any car. Overnight, $40K is just a-okay as an average car price. Big corp has done our thinking dirty, post-pandemic.

The main reason why you can hear the engine sound more when the guys are accelerating is because they were on sport mode. In this mode there is “pumped in” or “fake” engine audio when you accelerate just to make the car seem more sporty. In the other modes the engine is very quiet and unnoticeable. Mind you, in sport mode the acceleration does feel slightly more peppy and the steering wheel does get stiffer. So driving in sport mode is the most fun or as fun as you can get with a hybrid family sedan lol. No knock to the csr though, because this is an excellent vehicle.

So spacious and quite comfy with great MPG. So many standard features for $25k. I would not hesitate to get this again if I wasn't looking for a big SUV for my next vehicle. I have always been a fan of Honda and their upper level Acura vehicles and your description of this car seems reminiscent of their history of building good handling vehicles. I much prefer the interior, ride and plushness of their chief competitor, the Toyota Camry. I am not a fan of the 'chicken wire' dash in the Accord and wish they'd reconsider that. However, they are both very good sedans and its just a matter of taste. If you are in the market for this type of sedan you should also test drive the Camry as well.

Been a fan/subscriber for years, and now, seeking a favor from the fanbase (or if Paul/Todd happen to weigh in. )Looking for some judgement free ideas here. Presently own a '17 BRZ Limited with Performance pack and MT. I'm "retirement age", and with all the massive trucks and cars on the road, we have some reservations about being out and about in something this small. (We also have a SUV, so this isn't the only car) That said, I love the way it drives, and the high level of driver engagement. I"m even working on rev matched downshifts. So, IF you were looking for something a little bigger, yet maintaining some level of driving engagement, what are suggestions? Need it to be reliable, perhaps under 50k new, it doesn't have to be any faster than my gen BRZ, but still want some engagement. MAYBE a good AT (so wife can drive) would be considered. I'm kind of stuck at BMW 2-series as a possibility. Not ready to crawl in bed with Korea for a long--term relationship yet, otherwise I'd be looking towards the Elantra N. (Consumer Reports shows frowny faces for the Elantra line, and maybe a bit too "boy racer"). If I could actually FIND a Civic Type R not marked up to the sky, that might be okay, but I'm not paying 10K over MSRP. Thanks in advance for any brainstorming type input. Fortunately, not pressed for time on this.

I have owned several Accords and they are great cars. The problem with the hybrid is that for some reason, Honda thinks it doesn't need a spare tire and that makes it s "no sale" for me. If these guys had cut a tire while on this expressway they would be waiting for a tow truck because that Mickey Mouse tire repair Kit is useless. They did the same thing for the CR V hybrid. Why are they trying to save a few bucks and in the process ruin otherwise great vehicles?
@shawnwinget2337
@shawnwinget2337 6 ай бұрын
It's not that they think it doesn't need one or are trying to save money, it's that there isn't room for a spare because that is where the battery is. If they raised the floor to accommodate one it would severely impact cargo capacity. I have a CR-V hybrid and Accord hybrid and while it makes me a little nervous not having a spare, I can't remember the last time I used one. I ordered a plug kit for both cars just in case though.

Yes it was the new model but disappointing with plenty of cost cutting compared to the previous generation. Plus, the interior looks like every other Honda model. Not to mention the Civic comes with fog lights unlike the Accord on any trims. 40k plus dealerships marking them up just puts the cherry on top.

Along those lines, I think all these new gen Honda's are too long from the A-pillar fwd. They just don't look right, the proportions are off. MrMuchachos: As many times as it takes Honda to fix this glaring deficiency. For a vehicle that is going to set you back $40,000+ this is inexcusable, even life threatening in some situations.

Hey guys, thanks for the review of the new Olds Delta 88. I really love its looks. (I actually do). My recommendation for a Honda manual would be the Civic Touring Hatchback manual, for everyday use. I think the Si is gonna be a bit stiff, since they got rid of the adaptive dampers, and its suspension is tuned more for "sporty" driving.

The road noise seems unacceptable in the video especially for the Touring. Was it loud as it seemed?

I have put a lot of miles on the previous generation Sport models with the 19" wheels and tires. I own the '23 Touring (19"). Honda has definitely done some things to quiet tire and road noise on this trim level. I believe the windshield and front door glass is insulated unlike the lower trims. It is not whisper Lexus-like quiet, but pretty good for what has been a Honda issue historically. I mention the 19" wheels and tires because they typically transmit more noise due to the wider width and lower sidewall.

I agree with that. I like the styling more on the previous generation. However, it's so good, if you can buy the car for the function instead of for the form, you will learn to not mind it and appreciate it for its merits, which are many.

What I hate about this generation honda accord is the base hybrid sport trim...has removed SO MUCH OPTIONS. 4 speakers! No options! Manual seats??? Its insane. They want 33 thousand and it has nearly NOTHING compared to even a 28k civic.

I really dislike the front end. It's too high up. That "upper bumper" ruins it. Other manufacturers don't seem to be doing thus but they must still be meeting pedestrian requirements. There's something that reminds me of the Lincoln MkZ in the profile of the car. I just don't like the styling.

Other car viewers have been saying the Honda Accord hybrid gets in the mid 35 mpg range. I guess it all depends on how you drive the car.
@TheEquationSlayer
@TheEquationSlayer 9 ай бұрын
Because there’s no transmission, Honda’s hybrids are heavily affected by vehicle speed, just like full EVs. If you regularly drive 75+mph, you will struggle to meet the EPA estimate. But if you generally drive around 65mph or below, it should be very efficient. And like all electrified vehicles, cold weather will sap efficiency too.
