This was by far the easiest way to empty the oil. I was seriously dreading this chore. You made it so easy. Thanks!

More oil will come out if you tilt it for a second/ third time, it seems to catch somewhere. Good video though.

Ty! This might explain why adding even 10.5 oz of oil as Paul suggested was way over-filled. Initially, every time I added 12.5 oz according to Honda, it was WAY overfilled!

I had to get the HRN216 primarily because of the high torque. The dual blades for mulching is a nice upgrade too. My 5,000 sq. ft. front lawn is Zoysia, and my back 10,000 sq. ft. is a mix or cool season grass, but mostly weeds (will be Zoysia soon). This thing is a beast. I just changed my oil for the 2nd time (5 hour, then

Boy that is much easier than what I do. I would put the mower up on a set of axle stands and then use the drain plug underneath. Will have to try this way next time. Thanks Paul.

Great video! Straight and to the point. I also like the tip about unlocking the handle to make it easier to tip over. Do you happen to know what the amount of oil is between the low and high hash mark on the dipstick? Right now I’m just guessing how much to top up.

thanks for the tip. I've had a Honda push mower since 1997. 25 years old. Still runs great. Only issue I had was maybe in 2014 I had to replace the carb. Ethanol ruined it.

I have to run my mower dry every season to prevent mine from fouling... first issue within 10 months, ridiculous.

@@rma7921 fouling the plugs?
@rma7921
@rma7921 Жыл бұрын
@alexandercameron645 Plugs are fine... the fuel goes bad and fouls my carburetor. When the off season comes, I hit the fuel shutoff and let my mower run until its out of fuel. Much simpler.. I've had to clean my carb jets twice already...

Paul, 5 hours for oil change is just on the first oil change on a new mower. After that it is every 50 hours according to the Manuel you referred to.
@PaulPomerleau

You are correct. But since it is so easy to do and takes very little oil, I am going to do it before storing it away for the winter no matter how many hours are on it. It just makes me feel better. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the comment. I was thinking every 5 hours for an oil change seemed excessive, but Paul's point is good too. It's quick and easy to do, so I might just do it at the end of every season too.

5 minutes of run time will warm up the oil but not make the engine block too hot to touch, just don't touch the exhaust.
