One of the best videos I've seen - as others have said - crisp steady and in focus video with clear on screen text instructions and no narration. Wish there were more videos like this out there. Was able to follow along perfectly. Door actuator replaced. My only problem now is that the window catches noisily on something when returning from being fully down (despite the window guide being replaced properly). So I'm just going to avoid put the window fully down for now...

This video saved me hundreds of dollars thank you. Fantastic step by step instructions including reinstallation. I struggled with getting the 3 door screws off. I went on Amazon and bought a Vessel JIS #3 impact screw driver. The screwdriver ripped the screws right off. Need JIS tools for Japanese cars. Didn’t even have to use the impact. A good twist was all it took. Thanks again.

By far the best step-by-step video on this procedure. I normally like it when people do voiceovers to provide clarity. But, your video work and captioning said it all. By the way, I noticed a comment about what a challenge it was getting the three door screws off. Since I've not done the job yet, I assume my handheld impact driver should do the trick? Thanks for taking the time to do this excellent video. You have a new subscriber! 12/6/23 Update: I just completed this job and the video was a great help. I do have a couple comments/observations. 1. You will definitely need to use an impact screwdriver to loosen the three screws on the door frame. My seldom-used Lisle driver came in handy. See 1:48 on video. 2. When you are removing the moisture barrier if you see a rubber plug securing the barrier near the upper right corner (near the door lock plunger), remove it by pressing it out from behind the door frame. This will ensure that when you're putting the barrier back on it will hold in place. It appears the plug was missing on MrRanger's door. See 2:05 on the video. 3. This video shows the window rail going back into the track easily. In my case, that wasn't the case. When the rail was removed, the window deflected to the left (towards the outside of the door). As a result, I needed someone else to reach into the door frame and pull the base of the window back out while I slid the rail back into place. (See 7:10 on the video). 4. I ended up going with a Dorman brand actuator (here's the Amazon link: www.amazon.com/dp/B004131NEY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details No doubt Honda parts are great. But, I've had good success with Dorman parts in the past and it was a bit less expensive. By the way, don't be tempted by the "Honda" actuators you see on Ebay in the $20 range. They are Chinese knock-offs. Thanks again for this well-done video!

That job is alot more fun on the sliding doors when they don't open from either side. 😂😂😂. Another great repair without opinionated audio.

Thanks so much! I’m guessing this would have been a $200-$300 fix at the shop. Cost me $10 and took a couple hours. I didn’t even bleed like I usually do every time I try to be handy. I did utter some not so nice words though. 😂 Here’s an amateur’s tip: duct tape every screw you remove near the place you took it from. They won’t roll away and you’ll know where each goes.

Absolutely fantastic video! Fixed the issue with my passenger door not unlocking. Also, I have a 2008 Honda Odyssey Touring model. When my passenger door actuator failed, it also caused my tailgate not to open. Weird right? But when I replaced the actuator (with a genuine Honda part - I tried aftermarket but it didn’t work.) it fixed my passenger door lock and my tailgate from not opening at the same time! I couldn’t find anything online for a solution to my tailgate issue, but this worked! Thank you so much and God bless you for making this video and sharing it with us all! 😊

Yep. Our 16 year old just yanked the heat-set lock knob off the latch cable.

I'm unable to manually move the lock up or down in order to get the passenger side door open. It does not respond to the key fob (don't hear any noise or movement). I'm assuming it could be the actuator, but I don't know how to physically get the door open if the lock mechanism doesn't work. Is there a dependency on the electrical system? That is, if I detach the battery cables, will it allow for manual movement of the lock, so that I can open the door?

How does the window guide bar fit on the actual window? There is only one bolt that secures it to the frame and that bolt is at the bottom of the bar. How do you secure the top of the bar? How does it fit on the glass pane?

I needed to change the actuator but my door was closed and would not open. So I removed the screws and got the black garnish trim off (but it snapped so I have to replace that now too). Nothing I did came even close to removing the door panel. To open the door, I had to pull the inside door handle the same time as pulled up on the door lock (not the button, but the one the actuator pushes up). I tried doing this technique with the outside door handle and was almost successful, but it didn’t work. Give it a try, it might save you from removing the passenger seat.

Please make video regarding sliding doors. I have DTC B2038 "Left power sliding door base position switch curcuit open/short". Door won't open/close by itself and if I try it to open it manually it stucks partially opened.

As I was trying to button everything back up, the kids closed the door on me and I never got a chance to try it to see if it was right. Now the door will not open either from the inside pulling the cable or from the outside using the handle... Any ideas?

My driver side door on my 2008 Odyssey won't open. Outside and Inside handles won't open it. Any ideas to get the door open? I have pulled away the plastic as far as I can, and can reach in and feel the lever, but it won't do anything. HELP!!!!!!!!
