I know this video is a little old but I wanted to just say THANK YOU! I've had to replace the actuator on my 07' Honda twice now. I may have gotten a defective one previously. Either way this video guided me through it both times. Thanks for making a difference.

This video has been up for over 6 years and still helping people out! I just completed this project on my 2007 Odyssey after over a year of only being able to lock my drivers' side door with my elbow on the inside and the key from the outside. As others mentioned, the only issue was that I stripped the latch screws while trying to remove the mechanism. I used the Alden Pro Grabit Damaged Screw Extractor (#3) and they came right out in seconds. I replaced them with new ones from Honda (Part# 90103-S7S-003). The door works perfectly now. Thank you!

Excellent video. I would offer a few helpful bits for the comments. When putting the window track back into place you mentioned you can look through the hole. I'd add to that if you literally lie on the floor (with your head nearly under the door) with a light inside the door you can look straight up (through that hole) into the top of the channel to slide the window track. My 3 screws on the door jamb had soft metal that showed quick signs of stripping. An impact screwdriver solved that problem straight away. Finally I had trouble getting the door lock post up through the panel when putting it all back together. I realized you can screw the lock cap back on prior to the panel going on and just insert it into the panel from underneath. It doesn't force the plastic retainers at all and makes it easier to guide the whole thing together. Big thumbs up to the video.

excellent video. Thanks. Not the usual FIND-THE-FAULT comment, but you forgot to install the little white tab below the lock/unlock rod, the one from the white plastic cover that guides the rod upwards. Sorry and thank you again.

Just did this on my 2010 driver side. Thank you so much. This video is extremely helpful - camera shots that show each step, explanation that talks a person through the job. My 5 year old was helping and using the video’s instructions to work through each step of the job. My 5 year old knew exactly what to do, that is how easy the job is with the help of this video. To put the track back on, use your phone's camera. Never close the door until you test that the inside and outside handles opens the latch. Thank you for the video,!

Great video. Worked perfectly on 2008 Honda Odyssey. For the questions on how to avoid stripping the 3 door latch screws, you will want to use a #3 Phillips screw driver and at least 6" or longer in length. This is a larger headed Phillips screwdriver and fits very snugly in the three screws and should help prevent stripping. A smaller Phillips head (i.e. a #1 or a #2) has a good chance of stripping the screw. You can get a #3 for less than $5 at most home improvement stores and well worth the investment before you start this project.

Thanks for the tutorial! I was able to fix my 2007 fairly easily. Particularly helpful was your advice in reinstalling the metal plate on the latch assembly. I had the lever in upside down so it wasn’t working. Thanks to you, I figured out what I’d done and finally buttoned it up properly!

Also, if you happen to strip the screw heads out on the striker, and the local Honda shop is out of them, you can use Honda Odyssey brake rotor screws. They’re a little shorter but they provide ample thread to hold the striker securely in place. They are the correct thread size and also the correct bevel for the countersunk holes in the door.

Nice video! Our passenger side is stuck in the closed position. I did manage to get the inside panel off, but is there a way to work the lock so I can open the door to replace the actuator?

This fixed worked PERFECT on my 2010 Odyssey. Got the OEM part online for $13. Any video guidance on fixing the sliding door actuator? The only ones I have seen require a lift to hold the door. Thanks again!

Francois DeBoever it would be the same job on the 2010. I believe that the body style changed after 2010. You will not have to recode the actuator.

hey bud is this actuator control the back to my 05 odyssey the back of the driver side my lock and unlock won't work I just replace front on the driver side still won't work with the remote the button or is that separates do I need to buy the one for the rear thanks

But how did you get the door open, if the actuator was broken? That's what I am dealing with right now. I have to get the door open first, in order to get the door cover off.

Nathan Boldt in my case the lock broke not the latch so I have no problems getting the door open. Now you can take the door panel off with the door shut it’s difficult but it can be done.
