Nemo is actually a Latin name, meaning nobody. So this whole movie is about his dad looking for nobody. After the death of his wife and kids, he went insane and his subconscious created nemo so he would have a reason to live.

The clown fish issue was so bad that for MONTHS before Finding Dory came out I kept seeing all these awareness campaigns about not getting pet Blue Tangs, because unlike clown fish, they can't reproduce in captivity.

"Nemo" means "no one" in Latin so "Finding Nemo" translates into " Finding no one" . Instead of a father searching for his son, Finding Nemo is actually the story of a fish, named Marlin, who is so heartbroken over losing his entire family, he's delusional. His delusion drives him to travel all over the ocean in search of on remaining son that doesn't exist
