The biggest problem with X-men Apocalypse was that Apocalypse is practically the Thanos of X-men and he only got one movie. They could have devoted a whole trilogy to Apocalypse if they wanted to.

Actually they are wrong on this one. Technically how time travel works in movies is if you change anything in the past you could change everything in the future. And since time of future past changed one event in the past that predated any of the x men movies minus first class. All these films are alternate history for the franchise. For example jean and scott were alive in the future which meant dark phoenix never rose in the events of x3. And another example is wolverine who according to previous movies he shouldn't have been there but since his story changed in future past his previous life can no longer be considered canon for the franchise's future movies. Basically future past was a reboot where they have a blank slate to change anything they want that was present in previous movies.

HI John Winchesterp29! The timeline that they're referring to is this: In DoFP, Wolverine does not physically go back in time - it's his modern day consciousness which is sent back to his younger self in the 70s. In that movie, it's shown that Wolverine had already been through the process of having the adamantium skeleton implanted (he has the claws). So why would, in X-Men: Apocalypse which takes place in the 80s, show a confused, captive Wolverine who has been experimented on? Are they saying he was captured again and had more experiments done to him?

The biggest flaw with this movie and there were a lot was that they tried to do apocalypse in one movie. He's the most powerful mutant in the x men saga and the fight lasts like ten minutes. There was no tension no feeling no hopelessness it sucked. Watch x men evolution for a better understanding.

He is bland and uninteresting, just being powerful in itself is not engaging. What exposition could you do for a 2 dimensional character. Having more than one movie with apocalypse sounds as good an idea as splitting the hobbit into 3 movies lol.

Yeah, I watched the X-men evolution version as a kid too! Compared to that, calling this film rushed is a huge understatement. They should have treated Apocalypse like Voldemort in the Harry Potter films. First start off with nothing, then give vague hints and stories about him, then he starts to build power, before finally emerging. Queue the epic showdown. You can't shove all that into one already-bloated movie.

If you mean Vegeta vs Toppo, Toppo was still a GoD in training and Vegeta was Beyond Super Saiyan Blue which is a much more powered up version of Super Saiyan God.

I agree with you partially, Mike, but do keep in mind that Super Saiyan God Goku was still outclassed by Beerus. Something as major as this deserves a liiiitle more buildup, even if the power levels are as close as you say. That's what makes Dragon Ball so satisfying; watching the characters surmount seemingly impossible odds. When it happens this quickly, the emotional payoff just isn't there; it feels like just another minor victory. I hope you understand where I'm coming from.

I watched this movie in theaters in Nigeria, and the commentary from the other viewers was HILARIOUS! When someone got hurt, some man was talking about all they had to do is go to Malaysia to get remedy. And when Charles was fighting Apocalypse, a woman was like "YOU CAN DO IT, CHARLIE!"

Yeah, so Storm and Magneto I get, but why would Apocalypse choose Psylocke and Angel? I mean he can supposedly control ANY mutant, so why not the most powerful ones like prof. X and Jean Grey? Hell, why not totally unkillable wolverine and infinite destruction engine cyclops? Wouldn't almost any mutant with destructive powers be more useful to Apocalypse that the guy who's only power is having wings?

king of games and anime Wolverine was trapped by the project x group, they let him out in the movie. He was planning on taking proffessor X's powers(thats his real mutant power) and in the movie jean had little control over her powers and She didnt show her true potential until the final fight.

Dragonfly's Gamer yeah but there's still a bunch of mutants more powerful than slightly more athletic than normal and has wings man over here. Cyclops, Iceman, sabertooth, gambit, quicksilver, FUCKING JUBILEE has a more destructive power than Angel! Seriously, how is a man with wings a more effective bringer of the end of days than the man who can bring about a new ice age, or a man who destroys literally everything he looks at, or another endless regenerator with death claws if wolverine was unavailable, or a man who moves fast enough to disarm an army before they know what happened, or a man who literally generates endless amounts of energy and can pump it into anything to the point it explodes?

psylocke is pretty powerful though......angel not so much but his arc in the comics as was very important during the mutant masscre storyline....not to mention he and psylocke were actual horseman in the comics at one point not storm and magneto.

Two different worlds: Marvel movies are known the be like that, and when they actually are good, they get a lot of praise because how many of them are mediocre. It's different for X-men, because most of them have been really good, and the hype for Apocalypse was huge. So while it might not be bad or good, for many people, it was a let down because these movies don't have a rep for being mediocre.

+phantomboss133 You have it all mixed up. Marvel was never known for mediocrity. Critics and audiences have been praising them since IronMan, While Ironman2, Thor 2 and AOU are known to be their only mediocre films. Half of the Xmen films are considered mediocre/bad. X3, Origins, Wolverine and now this. And when Xmen hits a homerun, they receive the same type of praise Marvel gets. Example; Days of Futures Past. People often say the Marvel films are better than Xmen, that's why you constantly hear whining for Fox to sell Marvel back the rights.

+Jorge Nitales In your personal opinion maybe, but we're talking about in terms of how they were received. Hulk had ok reviews, and people like it just fine, the same with Thor and Captain America. IronMan 3 was really divisive, so it just might be mediocre. Origins and X3 have relentless hate surrounding them.

Honestly, the thing that disappointed me most about this movie was how little screen time they gave Psylocke. She’s a really cool character in the comics, and I was really excited to see her make the leap to the big screen. I feel like they could have done a lot more with her.

No it was bad, but we can still like bad movies. I like Howard the Duck. I like Starship Troopers. These are bad movies. And I like them. I think we need to stop pretending all movies are works of "art." Some are just there to entertain us, others have a message making them, essentially, propaganda, and then there's those few that are art. Now watch, we can start a whole new argument about which movies fall into each category. But I only start fires, I don't wait around for the firemen and arson unit. Have fun.

No, I think it's the worst part of the movie. Aside from the fact we've seen it before, and in a less heavy handed way, his speed doesn't make sense. It creates incredible plot holes and invalidates every other mutant in the series, since he could solve every problem from every movie single handed.

I say the biggest sin of this film was wasting away a badass awesome villain like Apocalypse. Even putting aside his silly look here, he doesn’t have the grand presence he is built up to have and doesn't do much combat until the very end.

The Quicksilver sequence is probably one of the few redeeming features of the movie, even if it was done before. They expanded on it, and honestly, I sort of want to see a Quicksilver movie strictly because of how awesome the actor is, the sequences are, and, yeah.

guys be honest with yourselves...... this movie wasn't that good. poor characterization, plot contrivances, and terrible action scenes. i thought days of future past was great but this story just straight up doesn't make any sense, i mean apocalypse was a complete idiot, this dude is supposed to be completely intimidating and menacing but in this film i was not threatened by him. i dont think bryan singer is the right director for modern super hero movies.

I saw an interview with Tim Miller, who said that when making Deadpool, he tried really hard to stay true to the characters he put on screen because they have such a rich and established history in comics. He did it out of respect for the characters, the people who created them, and the fanbase that loved them. To him, it's hubris for a director to think that his own madeup version of these characters is better or more important than all of the above. I heard that and my heart broke all over again for my beloved X-Men.

Holy shit, yes! I've been a lifelong X-Men fan and this is probably my favorite X-Men movie. Some of the best acting in one yet. It had some small issues, but they were miniscule to me. I really don't get why people just can't grasp that this is a completely alternate timeline from the comics. You know, like every other comic book movie in existence. Why isn't everyone complaining about this subject in The Avengers or in the other Disney/Marvel movies? I promise a lot of the people criticizing it, have never seen it. BTW, i don't just blindly love everything X-Men. I was not a fan of the first trilogy. Except for X2 of course. That was a fun movie.

I especially loved how we finally get to see a live action version of the teenage night crawler. I liked how well they portrayed his innocent side. I liked how they showed how helpful quicksilver really could be. I like how Angel finally got enough screen time.

I didn't even know what the critics thought of this movie, I only just sat through it this weekend because a friend of mine bought it and wanted me to see it to see what I thought about it. It was pretty dumb. The main characters all feel bad for Magneto losing his family but clearly don't give a shit about anyone else losing theirs to Magneto. News flash Fox, your villain can be genocidal or sympathetic but not both. Realizing you still have family in the world is a shitty, selfish reason to not choose to destroy it.

I think he shot himself in the foot by leaping forward 10 years to do adapt the DOFP storyline. There should have been a First class timeline sequel (the stuff Magneto said on the plane sounded like a scrapped version) Then DOFP should have been movie 3, and the best wrap up/ conclusion to both timelines. Basically, after he joined the timelines he had no where to go but Apocalypse for an ensemble piece.

I completely agree with you, but Mystic? LOL... There is no "Mystic" in X-Men it's Mystique. She's my favourite character (as a kid it was Storm and Wolverine) so it completely sucks how much they've destroyed that character. Maybe its just my sense of humor but I thought Deadpool was childish and immature which I get that the character is like that but meh, the jokes didnt land for me. I really dont get what the hype is all about.

Am I the only person who liked this movie? At the very least it was more ambitious i.e. the mind control fight for one. All other superhero movies (except Deadpool) have been the same old running into the ground recipe.

Al3xh413 well Eric's scene too was pretty dark. I'm not saying it wasn't flawed but it's certainly not as bad as what it's being made out to be.

Al3xh413 Agreed with Apocalypse but that's a recurring problem with Marvel at the moment. Wouldn't mind but they had an excellent actor for the role. The overall movie experience in my eyes was pretty enjoyable. The scene with Logan is probably the best Wolverine scene ever put on the big screen, as mentioned with Magneto even to a lesser extent we finally got to see Phoenix and a snifter of her power. Again not in anyway a perfect movie I just think it's undeserving of all the hate it has been getting.

weak? he killed a room full of people in a blink of an eye. He was the first marvelvillian that actually was powerful. The way he stopped quicksilver? I mean: yea. the first half is terrible written. But the second half of the movie is super enjoyable. Dont get the hate.

***** it doesnt matter what he is in the comics. for the movie its just important what he is there. how strong he is shown there. I mean: yes. the final clutch wasnt really creative, but it was fine. I also really liked the music that was used in the movie. so epic.
