Who am I?
Expert singing teacher, specialising in teaching children and young adults in singing and musical theatre. She has worked with the likes of The Saturdays for MTV, on shows such as Just the Two of Us for the BBC and many more. Throughout her years of teaching she has judged in many competitions, judging Lucy Spraggan, George Samson, amongst others who have gone onto succeed in the business.

Agree but Mariah is by far the fastest in head voice. Mariah is the most agile and head voice is probably where she's the most agile so imagine what she's capable of in that register.

Mariah's agility is just unmatched. So many variations in it. Rich tones. And, Whitney, oh I just love Whitney. I mean, it's Whitney.

Celine is the most underrated in terms of embellishments - her runs were very complex especially in her head and mix range. Mariah invented all of the hardest riffs ever, the queen doesn't even have to try. I just wished that the video should feature most of her live complex riffs. Whitney, on the other side, is very amazing with those melisma despite the fact that she has the heaviest voice among all them. It was evident that her runs were gospel-like while Mariah's were kinda classical. (even though it was more shown in her disconnected registers)

The face she did at 5:43 is because she didn't know she was imitating each instrument. That was a performance from 1995 called "Le Ballet". Celine is the best. Doing that stuff, sounding like a piano, guitar, flute, and along with more instruments it means the best voice ever.

Mariah’s runs sound the most natural and flow the best with her vocal technique. I don’t know what it is exactly but the way she sings is just meant to handle the most complex of runs.

Mariah has called herself a mezzo with an extended range - that's why Mariah is better than Whitney and Celine in the low range. Celine once met with an opera director who said everything she sang was in the soprano range I'd agree Whitney could have been a spinto or perhaps even dramatic, which explains her darker chocolate tones... later in life a dramatic often sings mezzo. And contrary to what people think, dramatic sopranos can be very agile and do coloratura, it's just not good for their voice so it's not part of their repertoire, which may be why Whitney's voice started to decline after the Bodyguard.

Well Whitney wasn't the most agile of the three because she was a spinto soprano and her voice is the darkest and heaviest of the three but she was agile enough despite having an heavy voice like that. Mariah and celine voice was much lighter so riffs and runs are easier for them. Mariah being the best at riffs and runs though.

I semi-agree - I think Celine's voice could be as big as Whiney'ss but as they never sang together, we'll never know. Remember, Celine stood toe to toe with Aretha, which Mariah couldn't do.

Actually Whitney’s voice is much more powerful than Mariah since she is a spinto soprano while Mariah is just a Lirico soprano. However, Mariah’s resonance is out of this world so when they did a duet they were on par and no one was outsinging the other.

Some people like to try to take credit away from Whitney Houston because of her struggles with her life and her personal addictions. But no one including this voice coach can take away that Whitney Houston has inspired these two women. And they have said that that. They have listened to her music and have been inspired by her..

Celine is powerful but lacks finesse. Sorry but never understood how people could put her in the same category as Whitney and Mariah. Whitney hands down has the best tone. I love the scatting. It takes so much skill!! It's very impressive. I reckon that's why you don't like slides in riffs, or anything that's "too" stylistic, or "oversinging". That's so boring!!! I love the growls and distortions. THAT'S WHAT SINGING IS ABOUT! All those textures and colors and even the ugly and roughness that the voice can paint. All of it is musical creativity. Celine is a total beast. Love it.

You can actually tell how Mariah is the only one who can jump from one register to another like nothing; from chest to head, to falsetto, to chest again, to head again, to chest again, to whistle... plus, her melisma seems to come out naturally, whereas Whitney and Celine have to try a little more, they use a looooot of their body muscles to compensate and help the runs to come out clearer. The three of them are amazingly Goddesses, but when it comes to melisma, Mariah has no opponent.

Whitney's voice is also a lot heavier so ofc Mariah is going to have more agility. Also, Whitney rarely used falsetto and didn't use whistle so she only transitioned between chest and head which she was quite good at. Whitney was equally as good at transitioning from chest to head as Mariah. Don't know about Celine

@Amore Arusko All of these great singers have many more different runs that weren't selected here. But truth be told, most of Mariah's runs, if not all, show her musicality so immensely. Her runs fit the melody subtly and at times, if we don't pay close attention, we wouldn't realise how many notes her voice flies through. And because they fit in the groove of melody perfectly, singers with less than perfect ears cannot imitate her singing. Most of them skip notes or runs here and there all the time.

@@GarageStudio7 Mariah has never been agile. She may seem agile now because she uses auto-corrective mics, but she is not agile. Her best voice was 92-95 and she wasn't very agile then either. Her biggest claims are her range, mainly her whistle.
