@DavidLightbringer I have a feeling that if Halena could spend more time with rhaenyra, she can convey herself better, i mean rhae would be interested since she was told about the prophecy and dragon dreams by viserys. Also she heard the " crackling ice" sound while looking at balerion's skull. I can see she would believe Halena.

Loved the analysis on this stream. I, too, am curious about Heleana's character going forward. I wonder if they will go the route of the book with her sinking into a deep depression following certain events...and will the end of her story be the same? It will be interesting to watch as it unfolds. ALSO-Building on the theory that dragon dreams come from the dragons and/or the eggs...Is it possible to determine which eggs are projecting the dreams? What proximity does one have to be in to receive them? Is this a way for the unhatched dragons to reach out to their future riders? How did Daemon Blackfyre (our spear handler with a crush on Dunk the Lunk) have dragon dreams if he didn't have access to dragon eggs? The answers to these questions would make a good complimentary video or subtopic in a stream. Just some thoughts. Thanks for another thought producing stream, Dave!🎉

@DavidLightbringer Ah! I always thought he had that dream (and/or others) prior to coming to Whitewalls, because of his statement to Dunk, "My dreams do not lie." That indicated to me that perhaps he had dreams in Essos as well, which is why I wondered how...given that he didn't have access (that we know of) to dragon eggs. The things I think about while staring at my bedroom ceiling at 12:40am on a "school night." 😉😆

00:46:50 - from Alicent's perspective (and she's got a point), Rhaenyra is so nice because she is so guilty... It's not just Alicent's hangups on what's proper, lawful, etc. It's another layer of resentment towards Rhaenyra being able to do whatever she wants seemingly without consequences - while Alicent has ALWAYS done whatever the patriarchy was telling her. Using her, coercing her, R***ing her... At least that's what it's like to her. She is bitter about this and I understand, but her resentment is kinda proportional to how much she removes her own agency and pretending she NEVER had any choice, ever.

bRUH Alicents favorite is Heleana! She may not understand her, but she relates to her. Heleana is dutifully doing what she is supposed to do as a woman, without complaint. She might be hard to understand, but Alicent clearly loves her deeply. Alicent literally calls her "My sweetests love", and in one scene when she sees Heleana, she runs up to hug her first thing. Of course, she also loves Aemond and Aegon, she may not know how to show it, but her ferociousness when she says "YOU ARE THE CHALLENGE" isn't some misdirected, random burst of anger. Its a mother who is passionately trying to protect her cub. But it's hard to understand from the outside, because she doesn't express her love in a healthy way.

yes!! like literally the first thing Alicent says when Rhaenys came in on her dragon was "Get to Helaena" to Criston so her first immediate thought was helaena! not aemond or aegon although she goes to aegon in this moment but this is just because the threat is mostly towards him

I didn't read Rhaenyra's comments to Laenor as homophobic, it's more like a tired wife - who has this bon vivant husband without a care in the world. Rhaenyra is under A LOT of pressures (no matter whether they are due to her fault or not), while Laenor's role as consort is pretty carefree! It's frustrating!! He needs to step up and show up especially because he has so little responsibility. Their teenage duck/goose arrangement is working more for him than it is for her. Sexuality aside - Any woman with an "adult toddler husband" would sympathize.

The reason I struggle to empathize with Alicent is because growing up I was a Rhaenyra in a School full of Alicents. As someone who has Autism and ADHD, I struggle with social cues and social rules, every time I did something or said something I "wasn't suppose to" I was socially roadblocked by girls upholding the patriarchal social structure of our small town.

I despise Alicent, too. I can not empathize with her. She's always been (since they were young teens on the show) a judgey, haughty bitch, and I just can't. You are correct, she is a high school mean girl. She's not a good person. She was judging the Lady who was "hiding a swollen belly" at the tournament. She was appalled by Cole being Dornish (aka brown) and disgusted by the thought of Rhaenyra having premarital sex and being "sullied." Then, in a later episode, after ALL of her posturing and judgments, she prostitutes herself for information. Absolute hypocrite. I can't bring myself to feel anything positive for her, despite anything that her father did to her. She is vile.

I had the same upbringing except I had three sisters who were Alicents and I lived in a major City. I didn’t learn my difficulties were ADHD for 40 years but I always knew societal norms did not apply to me.

Vermithor, not Dreamfyre, is the second largest Dragon at that point! But Dreamfyre might be in the mix for third place together with Meleys and Caraxes. We still have a bunch of very large Dragons at that point in the story

I think aemond didn't have a dragon because I don't think he necessarily had eyes on any dragon until he seen vhagar and how worthy it would be to claim her to take the opportunity to take vhagar as his own that's why Otto exaggerats by sayin 100 eyes is worth one vhagar or something like that aemond saw opportunity in vhagar no matter what the situation was he would try to claim her and because he held on and stayed on her back he also claims his worth more than enough of claiming the biggest dragon in the war at a young age and being potentially one of the best warriors beside daemon that's why he saw the challenge in daemond daemon beat criston cole in the tourney when they fought it was only when daemon turned to the crowd to revel in his victory that he was knocked down aemond seen a worthy challenge in daemon

I see Rhaenyra’s statement to jace not as her being willfully ignorant but symptomatic of her taking cues from Daemon’s lessons. She’s blood of the dragon, she can make the rules. Remember she’s living in this same mentality by having her thing with Harwin. LML has made this point before that if Daemon & VissyV we’re united this war would never happen. Likewise if Rhaenyra had taken more lessons from her dad shoe could have handled Jace better

It’s more like the laws around bastards are more harshly enforced when it comes to the women involved rather than the men. Young Rhaenyra: “If i were a man I could father a dozen bastards and no one in your court would blink an eye”

1:37:46 - a solution to this issue could have been to discreetly bring her a Lysene male sex worker - Anyone with Valyrian features basically - for her to bed in order to secure an heir. Then she would have been much more free to do whatever she wants with Harwin. The upper crust have ways of getting what they want by back channels, so producing THREE kids with a Strong - including the eldest and apparent heir - was pretty.. not smart. I love Rhaenyra and her very modern family 😂 but trying to conceive with anyone remotely Valyrian was an option that would have secured her family and she didn't do it.

Again, I feel like you guys are being way too generous to Rhaenyra. An even slightly responsible mother would have recognized that having these children under the circumstances is the same as endangering them. Even setting aside the predictable civil war caused in part by her heedlessly selfish behavior that ultimately claims all their lives, Jace, Luke and Joffrey are all inherently party to treason because of the choices she's made, and set up to suffer far more than a little confusion about their parentage. Just like Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen were living on borrowed time because of Cersei and Jaime.

lol it’s okay to judge moral character. Infidelity and promiscuity are bad character traits and contributes to a person’s over-all moral standing in an extremely negative way. Everyone being scared to say bad actions make bad people with ridiculous. Yes, some people are bad, immoral, hypocritical, and liars.

It's encouraging to hear your speculations on Helaena's role in S2, because I thought it would be like the book.... (SPOILER) She just loses her mind 😞 After what she goes through... and she's already highly sensitive. But maybe she's not as fragile as she seems. In any case I doubt Aegon would be willing to listen to her, he had always thought her mind is gone, even BEFORE b&c 😢

@@DavidLightbringerAlso fun fact, we don't know much about the Spartans from their own perspective (excepting fragmentary poems and archaelogical remains) but we do know that the only people who merited a tombstone with inscription of their name were soldiers who died in battle or Spartan women who died in labor. Dying of other causes, as far as we know, would not have gotten you a deliberately marked tombstone. A comparison between the dangers of battle and of birthing children goes back at least to antiquity. I don't think that recognizing the dangers that both men and women faced, diminishes either. Not every man died in battle just like not every woman died giving birth but the potential is there. George exaggerates his numbers a bit if you compare them with how many actual medieval queens died giving birth but still it's not a walk in the park.
