They lasted five years living together just before he suffered that life changing injury. How could they have lasted that long if House really was an ass beyond redemption? The injury had changed him over the years but he seemed happy and light in the episodes during which they had rekindled their relationship which lasted until Mark showed up and it guilt tripped House. He loathes his miserable self to such an extent that he thinks he cannot undo the damage of his persona. His misery makes him feel undeserving of happiness and he pushes people away. Almost vicious cycle of misery he can't escape due to his self loathing. He thinks he'll lose the minimum thing he is left with, his intelligence, if he steps out and hopes for happiness. Even if this were the reason of leaving her, he cared about Stacy's long term happiness more than his, this is the definition of selfless love. House wasn't as big an ass as he thought he was.

this is such a sad scene but I think Houses here House did make a huge sacrifice for Mark. first he didn't listen to him but seeing mark in a wheelchair reminded him how much he suffered when Stacy left him so he tried to avoid that misery to mark. I hatted Wilson preaching him latter because he really didn't know what House just did but his break up this time was completely selfless

Sara Zonana It would be nice to believe if that were true. I think when it comes down to it, House has just been miserable for too long that he believes or has convinced himself that he doesn't deserve to be happy. Wilson is right, he's been miserable too long that he probably starts to convince himself that maybe being miserable is what makes him so special, being so detached from other people, and not getting all sentimental and emotional is what makes him such a good diagnostician. This big benevolent act is just a means of justification for not allowing himself to be happy. He is self sabotaging. Ironically this probably stems from how he reacted and treated Stacy after her decision on his surgery. All the more, it's probably the saddest scene.

House is narcissistic. He may not like how his life is but he likes how intelligent he is. Being alone allows him to remain the same so his intelligence isn’t compromised. Same thing happened with Cuddy except House said she was worth it despite him becoming a worse doctor.

Let me just put this out there. I hated Stacy so fucking much. She was just, ungh. She was married, cheated, and then she was going to leave him to go back to House after she had left him. After she had decided for him against his wishes... It's like the cycle repeating itself, just with someone else. Stacy should've only been there for Mark to be healed and then left... I hated her the entire time she was on.

it is so sad seeing house always destryoing situiations for himself and staying in the misery..I know part of the show is his misery and the show never permitted house to be happy for long , I just think its sad and with my love for this character I think maybe they could have made him happier and still left the unique , too honest and fun side of him ,its just sometimes annyoing like for example SPOILER ALERT when he got together with cuddy and destoryed it and threw a car into her home , I mean I also think she shouldnt have left himbut still really sick of him , or I loved his realtionship with Lydia and when he stayed in the psychatric hospital and you really think he changed a bit but 1 season later he is exactly as miserable and fucked up as before , I loved the finale, but think its sad that his character development always gets build up and then ripped away

@2EKgn163 ай бұрын
She was incredibly selfish which makes her no better than House in that regard. I wish her husband had left her because clearly they had problems before House came back on her life and clearly she wasn't fully invested as he was. Its not just House that wants to be miserable. People settle too damn much.

It was all about winning. He just couldn't take that she was the one who left. Must be him the one running, it just can't be the other way around in his world. So he was obsessed with her, until she kept running. The moment she stops and goes back to him, the hunt is over. NEXT !

In short his bitterness drove her away, the pain of his leg and the existentiality of his issues mainly
@MinosML Жыл бұрын
He was sure the problem in his leg was due to something extremely rare and wanted a treatment that would kill him if he was wrong, she was scared and against it and when he was in a induced coma she was conviced by Cuddy to authorice giving him a different treatment that wasn't as dangerous, but left him with his limp and extreme pain in the leg all the time. He was then, understandably bitter and slowly became the cynical bastard we get to know in the series, he probably started treating her like crap by then so she left.

He probably wanted the relationship he used to have with her spark up again, but ultimately realised that he wouldn't be able to have such a relationship with her because of his chronic pain and they'd eventually become an unhappy couple again because Stacy loves house and house loved Stacy but never forgave her what she chose to do with his leg.
