I’m totally hooked on this series. I’ve watch/listen to all the episodes at least 4 times. Troy’s story is amazing and I can’t wait to see where Jared takes the players and us.

Recently I inherited all Dune books (Dutch translation) from my grandmother. I’ve never watched the movies, but after watching these first episodes, I can’t wait to start reading! 😍

@@MrRicktastic so I felt like the writing jumped around a lot. Scenes weren't setup well, and they focused mostly on what characters were thinking. It was hard to tell what was actually affecting characters at any point as the powers were never described. Lacked in history. Why was it bad that the main character was born? What was the deal with the box? Why did it exist? Who are the characters and why do they do what they do? It really only focused on one character in my opinion and then their family in the later books. It feels like the other civilians don't exist or don't have any value outside of the few times they assist the main characters. The weird incest that was not explained. Why could the siblings only trust themselves? What was even going on in that book? The 4th book was definitely the worst and felt like conflict for conflict sake with no realistic escalation. Everyone is everyone else's enemy no matter what. I could go on for a while, but it just really felt like a bunch of great concepts with no direction, and awful filler.

What an ep! Love this system, cant wait to run it! Very narrative based but it's still super mechanical. So different from what they usually run on this channel

Chiming in to support Skid's idea of a spy campaign. Loved the Twilight 2000 New Game Who Dis (RIP) and that falls in the same wheelhouse. Loving this Dune campaign so far too. Great cast.

I love being alive in 2023. It's a privilege to view a group so willing to share your creativity, under vulnerable circumstances, with the greater world. Your improvisation is a joy to behold. Your generosity toward each other in mutual storytelling (yes... and) is a bright spot in our modern world where so much is polarized. And of course... Dune! I own and cherish every Frank Herbert novel, series, short story. If I ever manage to make a feature film or TV series of Herbert's "White Plague", I will cast you all!

Constantly using the 2 or higher difficulty especially at the beginning makes it hard for the team to get momentum and doesn't really allow the Momentum/Threat Economy to get going smoothly.

There needs to be an 'Expanse' RPG as the world's created by the books and TV show seem perfect to be made into a role playing game......Post show Edit....Great episode ...lol

I was hoping that when Ross got away he'd set a distraction outside the building to try to pull people away from the prison to allow them to escape. The jailbreak was way more messy than I expected

Never has there been a power unleashed in an RPG game such as the power of Karen. For truly she can obliterate all or at least distract everyone long enough to sneak out. That was hilarious, Ross. I do have to say as someone who hated the 2 movies, the new one is a 3-hour slog that builds nothing and every death is essentially meaningless because you don't care about the characters, but loved the old PC games so that's all the lore I've ever had as the first bad movie came out right when I would have started reading them so that never happened, I love this universe you've built. The series is amazing. The quibbles some people have with the system seem overblown as it's mostly a bunch of people that haven't played that system before, and they're still doing quite well at it.

So I just wanna say just because I caught I think Beccas voice roll would have succeeded cause she used her determination and gave 1dice from her benee power so she should have rolled two and she already automatically succeeded at that point not that it matters I just wanted to say

I also highly recommend I, Clavdivs. It's really a political drama but the intrigue & plotting is handled so well that it never gets dry the way many do. Weird that threats of violence don't immediately solve the problem..

If you want an excellent game for espionage, I highly recommend SPYCRAFT (1st edition, not the 2nd edition that trashed the elements that made it great). For horror, you definitely want CHILL (mayfair games edition). My greatest hope is that you guys will this sort of 10 episode series for the new Fallout 2d20 game by Modiphius!!

I love the GM and the players, but this game system seems to include way too much negotiation about game mechanics instead of actual roleplay... :/

Think this episode encapsulates my problems with the 2d20 system quite succinctly, as a viewer that is. So many metagame discussions about momentum and threat. I do not care, in the slightest. Love Dune. Love the cast. 2d20 is boring to watch, in my opinion.

@Paul Gauthier I play a lot of VtM and it really isn't this bad...and the meta is quite meaingful. Blood. Will. It all means something, as opposed to momentum and threat which is supposed to be abstract and invoke a fast pulp action like setting (it never does, or seems to do :|). I enjoy watching Blades a lot more! Have never played it but in a comprable episode (the second/third episode depending on how we consider the session 0s) in this show...They planned a score, summoned a demon, blew up several carriages, almost died, came back and finished the score. In Dune 2d20 at that same point, they barely managed to leave a room 🤔

We spent about 9 months playing Star Trek Adventures. The story was fun, but the system never stopped being a burden. If ever we run Star Trek again, it'll be with Uncharted Worlds, so we don't get buried by the system. My group was super keen for Dune... until we saw it was 2d20.

I don't know that system. Hope it will be a better experience for your group. Did the Star Trek games at least progress more rapidly when the players were more well versed in 2d20?

Love this channel, love these players, love the characters and the backstories, but this dice system feels mad overcomplicated and seems to slow the narrative pace of the game down really considerably.
