I simply do not have the dexterity to use zone hitting. So far, I have had the most success using directional hitting. That's fine by me, because I'm a nominal gamer.

I find that i do better in general competing with directional than with zone. I chased more with zone hitting.

Always used directional in 19,20 and still am using directional successfully. I don’t play online good competition so maybe I’ll work on my zone hitting . RN I hate zone lol and love directional.

In directional hitting, re: the directional arrow- do you just press it once before the pitch or do you press and hold? My issue is timing, when to swing.

Pushing the stick inside doesn’t mean your PCI is placed there. It just means you want to pull a pitch, if the pitch is outside the pci might lineup but you will draw weak contact

I simply dont ever play the show enough to use zone hitting 😂 so i just like to bomb shit using directional hitting

so do you point the arrow where you think the ball is gonna be or where you you want the ball to go

You point the arrow where you think the ball will be. It's sort of like the PCI for Zone hitting. You get a boost if you're pointing to the arrow to the correct quadrant (the quadrant that the pitches crosses the plate in).

Great video.Im 40 and my hand eye skills arent what they once were so i struggle with PCI placement. I couldnt figure out how directional worked fully so i kept switching back an forth cause i wasnt comfortable with either. Now that ive used directional full time and understand it im hitting really good on allstar diff.

Is directional hitting essentially a 9 area simplified PCI or is it a ball direction influencer?

My understanding is that it’s a simplified 9-area PCI, and that the penalties/boosts for being wrong/right are less exaggerated than they are in other modes like Zone

@@TitanJeff If that is indeed the case then I would definitely go for directional. I suck at zone hitting, I can only go full joystick or no movement at all. I'm just not good enough to move it just a little bit while a 99 mph fastball is coming.

In EAs baseball games, triple play and mvp baseball, pressing up while swinging was best for hitting home runs. That’s why ppl have that belief with mlb the show. I also have my suspicions that the same people are making these games.

no skill in directional, its just timing and takes no coordination

If your playing average players it’s great experience but if your playing competitively against crazy good players who play like 160 games in a month than Zone is the only way to keep up because it does give you an advantage
