What’s even funnier about the whole “circus performers play Megalovania for the pope” thing is that the song was originally composed by Toby Fox for an animated sequence in the webcomic Homestuck, specifically the scene where Aradia Megido ascends to godhood; it was later repurposed and recomposed for Undertale. So technically the pope has gotten a taste for both Undertale AND Homestuck. It really is just the gift that keeps on giving.

You know, after seeing so many videos covering the worst of the internet, I was really enjoying seeing a positive video for once. You never really realize how much those videos effect you until you find yourself smiling watching a youtube video and cant really remember when the last time was that you did that (note smile, as in happy, not laughing, as in joke). I hope to see more of these kind of videos, especially more from Turky Tom

I love MatPat and GameTheory. For me, they are like that band you discover in high school, only having a demo on an indi-record label, growing to become extremely popular and then selling out (think Bad Religion or Rise Against), but you still like them because their major record label productions are still good. I don't really watch his content anymore, but I can still recall when he released that Chrono Trigger episode. Different times... One of a few YTers I am very happy to be successful.

Been watching Matpat since I was 11 I'm 23 going on 24 now, another great video Tom. I truly believe the hate he gets is undeserved and I'm glad you do to. Although he can be cringe at times his story is certainly inspiring to myself and others. Great research as usual keep pumping out these weekly bangers.

I'm in the same boat, at least regarding how long I've been watching. I'm finding replies to my comments on his videos dating to early 2013. The one thing that bothers me about the old videos vs the new ones is that the old ones seemed to be focused on "How realistic is this video game mechanic" Or "what would it take to make this character function in real life" or "how does this actually work". Stuff that actually teaches you through osmosis about biology, chemistry, math, engineering, like he wanted to do. Tangential education. The new stuff seems to be 90% about using tiny details to overexplore into the backstory of video games. There's value to be gained in learning how literary tools work (or don't, a la fnaf after #4), but you don't get that lesson listening about how 2 different characters are actually one because when you play this one version of the minigame his text has the same colour as the other guy. The closest he's come to it is with the Opium Poppy stuff for the sleep gas in his poppy playtime video, or one video where he examines if a certain group in a game is actually a cult. I'll still watch it, sure. They're well made videos, and I like having stuff to listen to in the background. He obviously makes sure the work is always reasonably presentable (or at least, the new channel owners do). They get the views, that makes sense that he'd do those videos. But in terms of actual content, I get more from the old videos than the new one.

MatPat's a prime example of being somebody who many try to take a literal harmless person and tarnish their reputation out of hate, jealousy, or just a complete misunderstanding. He reminds me of being an easy target for school bullies (like I was). I can't imagine the countless times he's broken down in front of Steph and needed her emotional support to get him through the many extreme obstacles they've had to face.

I think if I had to credit one creator in getting me interested in KZfaq and possibly making KZfaq content myself it’d be MattPatt and Game Theory, I remember finding it and binging literally every video he had out at the time, and then constantly checking KZfaq to see if he had posted a new video. Well I haven’t watched game theory in years that channel and the people behind it will always have a special place in heart, and I’m sure it’s the same for many others.

I have so, so much respect for Matt. He seems like such a loving, positive and caring person. He reminds me of myself in his wholesomeness and desire to be a positive light but he is an inspiration in every other regard. It seems to me that his parents did an absolutely stand up job with parenting him, giving so much love and support and nurturing his passions and that helped form the way he is now. It seems to me like he's had more than his fair share of struggles and adversity yet never let it falter or discourage him, so he was rewarded with a successful and well deserved career. I hope in some capacity, he'll always be around to spread his joy, light and brilliant mind. Such a cool guy

Matpat is most likely the nicest person on the entire platform, and the amount of hate that he gets for making what in the end are nicely dressed thought experiments is really depressing. I remember being a student and feeling down due to poor results, I would pop up GTLive and it would cheer me up with that incredible stream of positivity. His theories are usually not very accurate but if you keep in mind it's more of a "wouldn't it be cool if X? Let's try and prove it" they're extremely enjoyable. He really doesn't deserve any hate.
