Hi, I'm sorry to bother you, we don't really have poster board in the UK, so I was wondering what the GSM weight of yours is and I'll see if I can find something similar. We have Bristol board but I'm not sure what mm depth I should use. Thank you for your video, I love it!
@Faeriehood
@Faeriehood Жыл бұрын
Hi Paula, you are no bother at all. I have worked with Bristol board before, the kind I had was too firm and didn’t bend well. You just need very firm paper that will bend into a cone shape without tearing. Surely, you will find something in the school supplies section. If you find something different, please share it with everyone else so we can learn from your adventures in millinery. Wishing you the best of luck and Hatty Halloween 🎃!

What did you use to fuse the fabric to the poster board and did you use an iron. I was thinking of using a sequence fabric to do this
@Faeriehood
@Faeriehood 2 жыл бұрын
Hi 👋, great question. For the crown, adhering the fabric to the poster board is not as important as adhering the fabric to the brim. I do it all over the hat as it’s easier to work with and gives it a very shape finish. For the brim, if the fabric is not adhered to the poster board, when you shape the brim into a curve the top layer of the fabric will separate from the board and doesn’t lay flat…it just floats above the poster board so to prevent that I use permanent spray adhesive. No iron was harmed during the filming of this video 😉 Hope that helps Best!

Hi Emma, thank you sew 🪡 much for watching. Your support means a lot to me and is greatly appreciated. Yes I made the little ghost too, out of felt scraps. I was inspired by a cartoon drawing on found on the World Wide Web 🤓 and used it as the based pattern. Your compliments are just lovely and are heart felt, Thank you for your kindness . I have considered making a video showing how to draft the hat pattern… do you think that would be helpful? Do you have a pattern for this hat. I am looking to make it bigger is there a rule of thumb or a way foaling it larger
@Faeriehood
@Faeriehood 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Darla, I am very sorry that I do not have a pattern for this cute little Hatty. It’s one that I created after many attempts to get it right with loads of failures 😿. What I learned in the end…..I should have just traced and copied a small lamp shade. Every time I make this hat it always remembers me of the little shades you find on a dining room chandelier and it certainly would have made my life easier 💁‍♂️. So that would be my suggestion to you, if you have a flared shape lamp shade ( planter, garbage can, vase, etc) you could simply trace that to make the crown and crown top. The brim can be any width you would like. I hope this will inspire you in some small way and I hope that you make the best top hat 🎩 ever! Happy Halloween Wayne x

Hi Judy, here’s the Information you asked for …The top of the hat is an oval shape and measures 14 cm ( front to back) and approx 12cm ( side to side). The sides of the crown ( wall) is 11cm tall the length will vary due to the curve of the crown shape. The top of that curve is approx 43.5 cm, the bottom is 32.5. I hope I haven’t confused you too much. Best of luck. Wayne

@@Faeriehood Hi Wayne, I was able to re-create the pattern and tried making one, I'll send a pic once I'm done. However, I used my glue gun to "glue" the fabric to the cardboard and it's not too neat and flat. What type of glue were you using to bind the fabric?

@@Faeriehood Hello, I am also interested in how to make this pattern. I have tried to do it free hand but it's either too tall or not wide enough...Just off. If you told me how wide the top circle(oval) is - and how wide the bottom oval in the brim is. As well as the sides of the brim as it relates to the crown. If that makes sense. From there I could figure it out. But either way I must say you do a wonderful job and you are inspiring. I just began making small purses and wanted to add something else to the idea - but not typical -and as I mostly work in TWEED I was amazed when I came across you tutorial with the hat you made out of the Channel inspired fabric. The idea I had in my head came to be - through you! I saw the hat I had visioned. So it proves my idea to be a good one. Thanks for your time and instruction , Roy

@Faeriehood
@Faeriehood 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for stopping by my channel. If you like to have measurements, all you have to do is ask. I have had requests to show how the pattern is made and that’s something I am working towards. As far as the “ no talking” goes, the world is made up of tons of different languages and though English is the most common of those languages, not everyone understands it. We do take languages for granted. So, with that said, I have chosen not to dominate my videos with it, this allows people from across the world to enjoy the equally as well. I am sorry that you felt my video “sucks”. I am not a professional, just a person that enjoys making things and sharing them. Perhaps you will find a video on a large channel that will satisfy your needs. Put a little love into the world. Hope you are safe , happy and healthy. All the best!
