Watching a video on human life expectancy, KZfaq recommends "What would happen if all humans went extinct"....you're kind of missing the point there youtube.

It is important to understand that longevity depends on the how you live and what kind of gens lead your life and later decay aka. death. I think that if we want to live better ourselves we must have our life guided by health motives- that is exercising moderately,drinking more than two and a half litres of water a day and eating the right types of nourishment's(which I myself believe to be vegan+ eggs and honey - gluten products). This should be a guaranteed way to live to over hundred years and more importantly, have a physical and mental capacity to live by enjoyable and painless ageing. But that won't give the coming generations any perks above our own, right? So, what I though- and I do think this might spark up controversy- is that we have to learn how to prepare our bodies before deciding on creating a child and how to rise a child under pregnancy and after. With this it should be possible to create a human that will be able to life - if under proper life-style- a life no less than a hundred and fifty years with perfect health. A age higher than that might actually be unnecessary. When one becomes old death is a inevitable and even slightly reliving experience.

For your question: I say that it depends. If throughout your life you get to see horrible scenarios (wars, family members/friends die along the way, etc.), then probably no - you wouldn't want to live a lot. However, if you want to improve the world and your friends are with you along the way - high chances that you'd want to live for as long as you can.

Dude as long as my conciousness is preserved you can implant it in a freakin' tesla if that's what it takes

2052: You humans are so dumb. With the complete replacement of my imperfect and inefficient body parts I can live forever. Parts are expensive but worth every penny. I even perform self maintenance on rare occasions. Ha aha ha.

One correction please..... By 2050 we might even be able to treat hypertrophic and even hyperplastic obesity. We are already creating biological derivatives of hormones which can alter leptin resistance as well. So by 2050 obesity may not remain an issue at all. At least for the wealthy people.....

I always figured someone born in 2000 has good odds of living till 2100, and I remember some predictions that in the 2050s that life expectancy might surpass 150 years, so its interesting, however,​ there is also the note that as of now no one has outlived 125, so we'll see in a few years.

Trust me mental health is more important, if your mind is scrambled then what's the point? I have anxiety disorder that because a panic attack disorder with took the joy of of life altogether so stop worrying about your health or you could end up like me. My anxiety start from worrying about ways I could die.

I don’t know how I feel about this. If an individual can afford to live up to 20 years, which may or may not be possible, this may be a huge argument about the gap between rich and poor. Seems like the rich will live longer and become even more rich. On the other hand, if this is quickly developed to be cheaper to the general population, this could be an incredible landmark.

The 2/3 Obesity rate isn't exactly correct...

"Life expectancy" includes child mortality. That's the main reason it was so low in the past, child mortality was MUCH higher, but the average person lived about as long as today (if they didn't die from disease). Remember, they had better diets, and exercised all the time (worked).

I believe that this is not fully taking into account the massive effect that gene therapy, nanotechnology, A.I./quantum computers in drug development, and other technologies will have. Most of the increase in human life expectancy is due to external factors such as hygiene, nutrition, and surviving accidents. Once we can change ourselves at a fundamental level the effect will be the same as Moore's law on computer chips. An increasing pace at a lower cost.
