The idea that 1MDB was created by the government was originally to prevent the monopoly of large companies on projects in Malaysia... but the way it was managed was disputed...

Bruh, you gotta chill. 1MDB was created for the good purpose. And it's still profitable with multiple assets. It was Najib's brainchild just that it was mismanaged with financial fraudulent & now he's in jail but the other individuals who involved still walking freely, so Najib is more like a political victim in a way. However under Najib's premiership there were many domestic/foreign policies, educational/SME opportunities, and many welfare programs created. Moreover many economic boosting projects, initiatives & policies were started during Najib's premiership. He did tonnes of great things for Malaysia & Malaysians. The one commenting as if they're sound disappointed are just a mere bunch unappreciative Malaysians that hating Najib eventhough he did tonnes of great things. They whine around about corruption, bribe, integrity & abuse of power but also they support the other political component called PH that don't even follow all these. The reality is they just hate Malay leadership & also having Malaysia as an Islamic state. Even the PH government they voted, can't achieve more than 4.6% GDP growth in any Quarters they were governing for 22 months, which didn't even surpass Najib's last Quarter of 5.2% growth when he was the Prime Minister. Just ignore them and their drama, they're just bunch goons. Keep continue throwing the facts, you're already doing pretty good. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Admin….you forgot that largest non tax revenue to the Malaysian Government comes from Petronas, which is the largest company in ASEAN & one of the largest in Asia. It contributed around RM50 billion in dividends to the Government’s coffers in 2021.

We as neighbours are supposed to friends or at least trying to be civil to one another. Have you ever seen Canada wishing the US to fall apart? Or Portugal praying for Catalunya to cede from Spain? It is that kind of mentality allows European countries to move forward instead of clinging on past grievances. I’m sad to see us ASEANs bickering over the past…especially Indonesians.

Malaysian government always has a back up plan in case of debt, as it has three of the most powerful corporations in the world - Petronas, PNB and EPF which in total has about USD 1.5 trillion in revenue.

First of all, that's wrong. If you talk about assets and I mean cash, these 3 entities probably max. RM1.5 trillion not USD. Temasek + GIC alone already has almost close to US$1.5 trillion, in USD excluding even CPF. This shows a good governance unlike UMNO who not only can't govern well, but, corrupt. Thank you

Absolutely not to increasing taxes. The examples of America and Europeans have proven that taxes restrict GDP growth. California the highest tax rates in America has the highest homelessness rate while Texas & Florida with zero income tax have one of the lowest homeless rates. I used to live in California, it was a nightmare. There is no need for increase taxes & tolls. What we have is already good. What we can do is to reduce corruption, provide the most business friendly & the most efficient business environment as possible so that our businesses can thrive and we can attract more FDI.

As a emerging economy, Malaysia is pretty rich and doing well. PNB + EPF + Khazanah has about US$400bn assets thats just public funds excl others. It could have been more if it was well managed and no corruption. If Malaysia is managed like Norway, I think Malaysia would have US$1tn - US$2tn sitting on public funds.

Masalah nya masa GST dulu bila mintak balik tax returns tengok dah kena abuse walaupun dalam undang undang dah cakap tak leh guna. GST boleh, tapi orang politik ni suka buat hal hal yang korap. Nak kena ada independant third party untuk monitor GST kalau tidak jadi macam masa najib la, 6% tapi bila nak tax return kena delay sebab "duit tak cukup".

Everytime you change the taxation system, price of goods will rise. This should've been temporary, but it wasn't. The problem lies in the massive list of exceptions with the implementation of GST last time. It came to the point that the income from GST couldn't keep up with its administration cost (the people and the systems needed to keep it running). As a result, while the income from GST is projected to be big, it's cancelled by its own administrative costs. GST is an 'implement and forget' type of taxation. You shouldn't need to think if something needs GST applied or if at some level GST would be refunded.

its due to covid pandemic. extra 20 bn is used to prompt up the economy to its glory period before covid and financial support for everyone that are affected by the pandemic. compare to other nation, Malaysia is among the lowest deficit budget at only 20 bn at around 18%.

BN under Najib Razak has delivered more than 99.4% of GE13 manifestos and was expected to deliver the GE14 manifestos too. Despite a short time, Najib has created MRT, Pan Borneo Highway, new ports, High speed rail, TN50, billions of investments, cash handouts, low cost housing, new merdeka tower, East Coast RAIL, subsidized hajj, more funding for chinese sch and indian temples, created 3 million jobs, digital free trade zone, projek PPR, PR1MA, 1 Razak mansion, affordable homes, 6.2% economy growth, highest tourism numbers, Indian blueprint, saving Proton and MAS, removal of tolls, more funding for young entrepreneurships and many more.. This is despite PH committing economic sabotage of the country. wHAT has PH done to improve the lives of Malaysians apart from instigating the rakyat to hate Najib and only give empty promises and lies plus more u-turns?

its really not, GST is good for the country but it burden the people especially when they have a lower average household income...investment for education is the way government choose to invest for the countries future(long term), I mean each group of people in this country would desire a different focus for the countries economy but we're not in some situation that would damage the overall economy if the money were poured more into education. for now I think we're good to be bias for the sake of education development, you need to educate people first to bring about change in the future and I think Malaysia currently on the right track towards developed nation in this region after singapore(of course unless we can surpase singapore education level followed by their economy then we'll probably be the first developed nation in this region)

A great report but unfortunate lacks accuracy and contemporaries! Malaysia is a very fortunate country and has resources over resources as one fall: tin, rubber, cocoa, and now crude oil and palm oi. However, over the last 30 years the government has high level of corruption and scandals, like BMF, Perwaja, submarines, 1MDB etc; much of such ill gains have long been parked overseas. The coffer is now filled with domestic and foreign debts though not to the extent of bankruptcy but would stifle economic investments and innovation for another one to two decades. Further, as the affirmative policy is along the line of race, many talents have migrated to other nations over the years which is another blow to scientific development, economic innovation and capital retention. A great nation but is at the crossroad of ethical politics.

I'm sorry but i have to state here, the fact that you keep using mahathir as if he is the one steering malaysia in the right direct over these recent years is truly stupid. Look at the majority election after pakatan harapan took over, all of them return to Barisan National the one that Najib was part of. Ask anyone in malaysia they will tell you that it was hell for the country to be under pakatan harapan. The only ones who don't agree (and i'm not saying based on my assumptions) are paid or people who a grudge with Barisan National. They got what they deserve by turning their party and be humiliated over the last two and a half years pakatan harapan was in power. Also noted Najib was the one that build malaysia back when mahathir's relentless pursuit of building things keep making the country's finance decline. In the short terms that Najib was in power the country experience a true growth and if it wasn't for Mahathir and his blantant lies the country would have been far better. The people suffered when mahathir's party become the ruling government and it finally brought to their collapse. Tell the truth of how mahathir's family wealth corruption who are one of the richest in the country. The 22 years that mahathir spend on the country was outpaced by najibs short terms. Had najib not decline the offer to return to power the country would still be in the light of progress. But it doesn't matter anymore now that the country have return to barisan national. We have a saying for pakatan harapan mahathir's party, that is manifesto kencing

Video is only HALF correct. If Malaysia is so rich, she would not need to borrow billions from the World Bank to start her sovereign fund that resulted in the 1MDB corruption. Malaysia gets her money mostly from tax, non-tax revenues and the sale of palm oil. These tax and non-tax revenues are just the way the government parasite on the domestic market that is driven very largely by non-Malays. Palm oil is dropping in revenue and unfortunately, the non-Malays has also been quitting Malaysia because of her pro-Malay policies, and that is why the Malaysian Government funds are running very low. Give it another 2 decades and Malaysia will become like East Timor. But before that happens, a civil war will break out.

Before Malaysia Independence, British Empire left chinese and Indian traders, miners and labourers in Malaya as persona non grata. British do not want to bring them into Britain yet their own homeland particularly China 'closed door' on them. They cant return home. Quite a number of them join communist and tried to kill the Malays so they get hold of Malaya. Malays fight back and to solve this problems, The Malays agreed to give these people citizenship as long as they recognized the right of the 'son of the soil'. The right of Bumiputera. This is always overlook by younger generation nowadays. Not right if most non tax revenue were because of non malays achievement. Large palm oil industry are own by Sime Darby and Felda and Tabung Haji. PETRONAS definitely under Malays management. While non malays particularly chinese may good at businesses and trades, they are also well known for not paying tax, hence that is why so many against GST.

Any pro Sulu or PH claims on North Borneo, their primal source of reference will be the Sulu and British North Borneo Company (BNBC) agreement dated 22 January 1878. In this agreement, Sulu “lease” North Borneo to BNBC (Tausug version - missing during his majesty trip to Singapore) while the English version is “grant and cede”. This information will easily be cherry picked in any of their discussion or debate. But what they will not be revealed are those that can refute their claim. The followings are few of the information that had been kept secret: 1. The agreement between Brunei Sultanate that grant and cede North Borneo to BNBC on 29 December 1877 which is 3 weeks earlier than the agreement between Sultan Sulu and BNBC (22 January 1878). This will deny that North Borneo was a gift to Sulu from Brunei. If disagree, show undisputable proof that Brunei Sultanate (original owner) give North Borneo to Sulu as a gift. 2. On 22nd July 1878, Sultanate of Sulu relinquished his sovereignty on Sulu Archipelago and its dependencies thereof to Spain (Bases of Peace and Capitulation Agreement). 3. On the same day, 22 July 1878, Sultanate of Sulu wrote to Governor General of Philippines and Governor of Sulu terminating the 22/1/1878 agreement between Sulu Sultanate and BNBC. Thus, the agreement is null and void. 4. On 24th July 1878, Governor of Sulu wrote to BNBC concerning the Spanish sovereignty on Sulu and its dependencies including North Borneo and the termination of the 1878 agreement. 5. Governor General of Philippines wrote a letter on the same matter dated 20th August 1878 to the Spanish Government in Madrid. 6. Finally, the issues on the agreement between Sultanate of Sulu and BNBC and the status of North Borneo was settled through the Madrid Protocol (7th March 1885). North Borneo belongs to the British under this Protocol. 7. In addition, during the US colonization of PH, Carpenter Agreement (22/3/1915) was signed by the Sultanate of Sulu which relinquished its temporal sovereignty of Sulu and its dependencies. 8. Later, the 1930 Anglo-US border agreement acknowledge the boundary delimitation between PH and North Borneo that belongs to the British. Most of the above documents are kept either in Public Record Office (National Archives) in London or General Archives in Madrid. It can also be accessible from the Philippines Official Website with Spanish to English translation. Rebut my comment with facts and references. Not hearsay.

Why would any Sarawakian and Sabahan wanted to downgrade their lifestyle ? Sarawak and Sabah are better with the Malaysia compared to Indonesia and Philippines. Malaysia's Human Development Index, GDP Per Capita, Competitiveness are way ahead of both countries. Not to mention Malaysia's passport is 4th strongest in Asia Pacific just below Singapore, Japan and South Korea. It's either Sarawak and Sabah become anew country of their own or stay in the federation.
