I bought my partner a telescope when we moved from urban to a rural village. Within weeks the village hall installed flood lights which illuminate the hall and the whole of the recreation ground which backs onto our garden. They stay on all night. Beyond the rec are orchards and beyond that the next village on a hill. A house was built on the hill which then installed multiple security lights which shine straight at us. We call it the Starship Enterprise which cheers up a little, being Trekkies... The telescope is on top of the wardrobe.

Yup, definitely the best option, trouble is even reflected light can cross the boundary line.

Being in a city should not be an excuse for antisocial use of lighting .Unless other wise needed, Mount low and point at ground .

When I was a kid there was a house over the back of us when there landing light was on and there bath room door was on. You could see a good reflection on are living room wall. Light invasion would this come under light trespass. We could see all that is happening it would have been very embarrassing for them to know.

@@efixx No she needed a good pair of running shoes an a treadmill. It was just a beam of light reflecting on are wall then the shadow shapes. Very detailed.

Neighbours light lights my bathroom .. and all top windows yet the garden they are lighting is not lenghthy ! Conifers seperating .. way closer to them .. they also have another light .. its bright . so i know they can see their garden .. thiis second light heading at the houses behind .. lights up the top of 2 houses .. lights it up for their view .. and the rest of the houses on their row .. fs i live near wierdos ? Why would i wNt a light that lit someone elses home !

Why things has to be so complicated. Calculate the lux and have software.....just put one 50 w flood light around your house and all Neighborhoods benefits

My next door neighbour installed a flood light at the side of his property, which lit up the inside of my house. After about 6 months, I nipped round one evening with a set of step ladders (whilst they were out), and slightly unscrewed the bulb. This had the desired effect. My neighbour never found out and the floodlight remained in that condition for around 6 years.

Just an opinion: All are E0. I can and will and have in the past, cut out the wiring to floodlights (and streetlights) if they illuminate my home.

Light pollution is hazardous to health .. in many ways ..someone knocked a lamppost out down the road .. I wish it was the one that glares through my window all night !
