Want me to get into anything more specific on dealing with duds in this business? This was just sort of an overview on things. Still, I hope it helped! :)

Also, any comment on the new Stanley Tumbler craze, just like the beanie babies of yesteryear, all these tweens, women, and resellers are storming Target/Starbucks for these 40 oz cups w straw. There are even accessories such as straps, chip holders, ect for them. Pink is the "hot" color.

I think it's the stupidest thing of the year so far! Hahaha AND that's with me hearing about the so-called "alien attack" in Miami! I'm just a little partial to my own interest in multiples on my money though. Give me a nice, quiet bookstore and 20-100 times on my money and I'm happy. No need to be stampeded for a cup. Lol

yes that Miami Mall incident is crazy. Supposedly the inter dimensional travelers got the coordinates flipped, as this Mall is the reverse Lat & Long of Antarctica, as some Yt person pointed out@@antiquebookcollective

Ah Abe Books, my own personal opinion is, if Abe says its worth $100, the rest of the world pays $50......So many times the ones I thought were duds, turned out to sell right away. My books that are non movers, I take over to my consignment shop booth and ask $1.....helps pay the rent!

Good stuff right there! Great idea with the consignment! I use Abe Books like one time for every thousand books I list, so my experience is right close to zero. Hahaha eBay is my life, it seems. I've drunk the Kool-Aid.

Another comment....you don't know how many times I've gone to an estate or garage sale and just ask how much for ALL the books.....I usually get a great price and fill up the truck.

Folks love it when you take it all, that's for sure! :) I've yet to get to the point that I'd offer to take EVERY book, but I do take enough that folks are usually quite happy. :)

Good topic. Would you pay up for a first edition or signed book, say Steven King or Harry Potter, as a future investment?

Personally, I wouldn't be interested in those because I'm not an expert on them. Hardly know the first thing. Of course, if I find one and it costs me a dollar, sure. However, I'd still flip it. I'm not here to hold onto these things forever. The same goes for every other book that I get that's valuable, I list them all. Could I see the price appreciate ten percent a year? Sure. Will I wait for that? No. I spent a buck or two on the book and, if it's worth a hundred, I'm happy. No need to wait for another few percentage points in my eyes--I have other things that can do better that I put my money into. :) Hope that helps shed a light on my thoughts here, hoping to get that video made on this this year!

There's a big difference between Abe Books, Amazon, etc. and eBay listed prices. Why?
@antiquebookcollective
@antiquebookcollective 7 ай бұрын
I don't know exactly why, but I suspect the eBay versus Amazon is because the barriers to entry. Anyone can sell on eBay, Amazon is harder, costlier, and then there are the gated items and categories on top of that. As for Abe Books, I've never sold or done business there, so I don't know at all. I've seen their prices being more reasonable than elsewhere though. I believe Amazon owns them now. Then there's Etsy. The land of cool crafts and then random scammers. Lol Folks love listing 5 dollar items for 500 in hopes of striking it rich on someone else's folly. But I don't know the real reasons, those are just my thoughts. :)

@@antiquebookcollective Your thoughts and opinions are good enough for me. The salvation near me has raised the price of some hc books to $8.99 from $3.99 because the price for the same book on Ebay was $8.99. LOL
