NAILED IT!! You are soooo right Andrea! The older I’ve got the more I’ve come to realize everything you’ve said is true. Putting the phone down is soooo critical. It’s something people didn’t have as little as 20 years ago! We have too much information coming at us all the time and our brains aren’t meant to be ON 24/7! Overwhelmed feelings come as a result of not moving enough and the more you move the better you feel. Nutrition is a huge part of the puzzle not just eating but eating good food not pre-packaged foods with alien inputs. When we grow it ourselves we know what’s been put in it. God bless! Thanks for the reminder to take care of myself because if we don’t take care of ourselves we can’t take care of anything else, not even our plants etc. I wholeheartedly agree that people don’t need soooo much to grow our own food, seeds and some dirt and water. It takes a lot of time and energy to keep the seeds going etc etc. Praying for Ben. ❤

Whoohoo yes!! Great vlog. We have done that exactly. Got overwhelmed.... Had to decrease our # of chickens, and plan better on our chicken processing/meat birds. This is a great time to hear the reminder to not get too overwhelmed with the seeds, etc because of the work it adds to us too. It doesn't stop when that seed is in the 4 packs. LOL the watering etc. And then the planting. Anyhow, rambling here. Thank you and God bless you too! Becca

Good morning from a chilly wet windy Oregon. Praying for Ben. Being overwhelmed is a tough one. Excellent tips. I found even just making tje bed before I leave the bedroom helps me a lot. As a widow I battle being overwhelmed often by the numerous things that seem to need to be done, and it's all me alone to make big decisions.

Andrea, Great advice! I wish I could sleep in. I'm up every day at 445AM, and In bed by 10PM. I do most of my outside work early, or after the sun is getting ready to set. This work schedule I set intentionally because mid to late summer it's just to darn hot for me to work in the Oklahoma sun. If it's not extreme heat outside, then I'll work most of the day outside. I have garlic in the ground already along with Purple Viking potatoes, and peas. I'm planting inside the house using heat pads, and grow lights various tomato plants, pepper plants, and numerous flowers. Soon, I'll be direct sowing beans, sweet potatoes, several types bok choy, lettuce, spinach, onions, squash, zuchinni, and carrots.

Excellent advice Andrea. I learned a long time ago I can't get anything done by sleeping late. Cut off the computer and phone and go to bed. Also start out small. You can always expand but do it slowly and within reason. You'll know when you reach your limit. I saw on Instagram where Ben was having surgery. I hope everything went well and I will pray for him.

Right now I'm waiting for kids to hit the ground. Put the goats on lock down today, hope to have the first set of twins on the ground this week. It's been a rough time, starting with my husband's heart attack on Christmas Eve, having money taken out of my SS making it harder to get things done on our homestead. Doing what I can. Thankfully I had some lumber left over from another building project that I was able to use to build a safe feed trough in the goat barn. Now I can feed them away from jostling horns! Now I am evaluating what materials I have for the other projects that need to be done. Rain catchment for the buck barn as well as for the chicken coop, build a goat space in the run-in, running water for my house would really be nice. I also need a handling system for my goats and a retaining wall for the hill my house sits on. Planning on using the retaining wall as part of my handling system. Might have the materials for the run-in renovation, but not for everything else. The retaining wall is the project that's probably going to be the most expensive. It's been a stressful time for me, and even debated on whether I should throw in the towel. But I'm sticking it out, for now anyway.

The more stuff you have the more time it takes to take care of it. We ended up spending all our time taking care of a boat and a trailer and going back and forth to the lake just to spend 4 or 5 hours and we never really had time to enjoy those possessions. The same with oue horses. They need the same time and care whether you get to ride or not.

Girl, I was just saying the other day, I did this to myself. I breed and show silkies. I also garden. Last yr I had a heart issue that caused a stroke. So I had to heal from the stroke then have the heart issue fixed by surgery. So I didn't plant my garden last yr. By late summer I was doing so much better from having the surgery and feeling so much stronger I decided to hatch out chicks to grow out over the winter and have extra to sell this spring. Silkies are impossible to sex without doing a DNA test. So the only other way is to grow them out until they crow or lay. Everyone wants pullets or pair until they realize a grown out bird that i can sex is not the same price as a week old chick. And with show potential they are not for those on a tight budget. So they sell a bit slower. Growing out chicks in the winter isn't an easy job. Keeping them warm in the winter is much harder then in the spring, then you have frozen waterers so you have to use warmers to keep water from freezing. So the extra you charge from an older bird isn't worth the extra work in freezing weather. And grown birds take up a lot more space then chicks. And it's time to start plants for the garden and take birds to spring shows. So yeah I've been a little overwhelmed, and I did it to myself. But the silkies are selling and I am not hatching chicks other then what I need for myself. Soon I will have my flock back down to an easier amount to handle. Which is much less work. It's so easy to do this to ourselves. The big thing is to realize and admit you have taken on to much and fix it. Love the video, you are such a bright spot in my day. Hugs.
