One of our favorite ways to beat the heat in Denver during long hot summer months is driving to the mountains, getting above 10,000' and enjoying the cool mountain air. Random trails, roads and destinations are always welcome! Take advantage of pull outs, trailheads and picnic areas along 103 for great views, photo opportunities and exploration.
Our route: I-25 / I-70 to Evergreen, 74 / 103 to Echo Lake & Mt Evans, 103 / 74 to Evergreen, 74 to Morrison, 470 / 285 to Denver. An alternate would be to continue past Evergreen on I-70 to Idaho Springs and take 103 to Echo Lake from there.
