How to build the Cannonkeys Bakerneko 60 plus review.
The Bakeneko 60 from Cannonkeys is a very nice budget mechanical keyboard kit that you don't want to sleep on. With its gasket mounting system via O ring, it offers something most do not at a very affordable price. A great option for beginners and we will show you how to build it.

I grabbed one of these as a test board. It's perfect. So easy to pop the pcb and plate assembly out for a full switch swap. It's also got a very clean sound that lets the switches sing.

Great review. I liked how concise and straightforward you are with all the details - no going off topic or making flashy edits with irrelevant memes or gratuitous b-rolls (not that there's a problem with that particular editing style, I just personally find it to be a massive waste of time even though so many hardware channels do it). I've been thinking about purchasing a Bakeneko60 since I swap out switches so often, and it becomes a chore disassembling my keyboards all the time because I've always felt the need to support the hotswap sockets from behind the PCB when pressing in the new switches. Also, you're probably the only keyboard content creator I've seen who mentioned the benefits of getting into the habit of doing that. Just subbed and looking forward to more content from you!

After playing with this board a bit more, the bandaid mod on the PCB REALLY makes those keys not bottom out and be quiet. I think this would be a great option if one was building a silent board but takes away from the nice clack of this one.

Nice review. There's definitely some neat customization options that you have explored on that unit too. It ticks a lot of boxes in terms of design choices. Here's hoping they consider a 75% or TKL 80% version down the road.

Awesome! When you put this together, get a thick popsicle stick or something similar to maintain the space between the plate and the pcb so it does not crush. This will make more sense when you do it.

Yeah, there is no bottom out clack. I think this is a result of the foam dampeners. That’s the nice thing about preference and keyboards. We each get to modify them to our own liking. There is almost no lube on those stabs either.

Yes, those are all switches, madness LOL. I looked at the Akko switches, sadly they are a 3 pole, I expect they would be fine in a soldered board, but I wonder about hotswap and stability.

Wow what foam did yoy use for the first part? The 5mil? Was it poron or eva? Or what? Just wondering thanks in advance the silicone is just to dense I dont enjoy silicone much tbh the poron can allow for the switches to pop more same as eva foam lol

@@StupidBulletsTech yeah absolutely yeah I knew I heard it somewhere bevause that just sounded to good to be poron haha eva retains the sound more while only dampening the unwanted noise it allows all frequencies to still come through I love it just ordered some for my mr suit to replace with the regular poron it uses and so I can use no pe foam and get the exact sound I know I can get from this board needed foam like this to cover up the flex cuts more lol

Hello! I would like to clarify this board isnt gasket mount but o ring mount, there is a difference and will affect sound and feel, I think you should clarify for all the folks out there.
@StupidBulletsTech
@StupidBulletsTech 3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate you understanding nuance, but did you know that O Rings are Gaskets? An O-ring, also known a toric joint, is a mechanical gasket in the shape of a torus. So, maybe i should have called it a Toric joint board? That would really be confusing! I will add the word gasket to the title in case any one is confused besides you. Checked out your channel, Nice start, i hope you do well.
