I used the gt1 cam for my 98 gp gt build. Ran a 14.3 guarter mile. Best thing in the world was beating gtp's and then telling them I'm only a n/a setup. I did the cam at 180k miles. Compression at 180psi all cylinders. Only worn part was timing chain dampener about half way worn. Put the ssm90 kit on it at 205k miles. Never had any issues with reliability. That car raised 3 kids and did every errand and road trip for years. Got the car to a 13.21@103 and then a bad storm hit and flooded my property and filled the transmission with water. Car had 250k miles on it! That was back in 2008! Glad to see Zzp is finally getting there name out there.

Would love to see what a typical dyno chart would look like for each cam so you can see where the peaks are and what the gains are at each rpm

So, with my bolt ons, I will be running the VS cam, 90 lb valve springs, steel retainers, double roller timing chain, ARP head studs, a re-tuned ECU for 91 octane, good to go.

Got a fiero can't wait to launch like a rocket seems pretty straight forward brother had a built gtp fastest thing I've been in did 160 or more couldn't really tell anymore the needle was buried and felt like we were floating

Ik u said to do 136 comp valve springs but I just got 105s because I couldn’t buy a doubler roller was sold out so I got a single and 105s maybe I’ll just stick to slightly over 6k and try not to rev it all the way fully then😅 with my nic cam build

Bummer the 3800 series tuning scene didn't take off like I figured it should. Such a great engine. I guess it's not a 2JZ and you can't make 10,000 hp with the 3800 so maybe that's the reason.

It's because they mostly came in FWD cars that were limited by a pretty crappy transmission for making power

@@tuningwithstyx I fucking hate the 4t65e but I love the Grand Prixs. I wanna build a 300+ horsepower one sometime soon but that's the only part that scares me. What's dumb is they had a stronger FWD transmissions, the 4t80e, I believe the Northstar V8s got them but oddly the 5.3 Wbody cars never did.

Too little rwd support, the stupid 60 degree pattern makes it difficult to get any good transmission behind them. The LS pretty much destroyed every other gm platform. Some of us love the little v6. It responds amazingly well to a turbo. If you want 600hp, it's very doable. If GM had only used it for a rwd turbo gn remake, it would be even more legendary than the original. But, any fan of gm knows they make consistently stupid decisions about what we really want.

Hello Guys from Australia 🙃 While this question is not about cams but what driving them. I have a Aussie 3800 with a Rollmaster single row chain and it doesn't have a chain dampener fitted, with the single row chain should it be fitted or run the same way as the double row chain and leave it off?

Hey Ryan D! I have a Natrally Aspirated 3800 series 2 and I want to upgrade to Supercharge. Will the supercharge option works for the Naturally Aspirated 3800 series 2? I'm hoping to upgrade with the double roller timming chain, intercooler system, ZXP cam, tubular header and etc. You didn't mention if the ZXP cam will pass admission which I intend to used with aluminum head as well. Please replay and let me know. Thanks Ryan D.

Yoooooo, how can we get a ZZP shop up here in 🇨🇦? I know the people would go crazy, moddin w-bodies, Caddies, Lnf, Lsj, all of the platforms you offer. Your prices are super killer, stuff would fly off the shelves, people would be getting engines built to the teeth. Oh yeah, can you make bigger ZZPERFORMANCE stickers, the same sixe as the ZZP sticker? I would slap one right on my blacked out fender for decals

Anybody have issue tuning with the N.I.C. cam? I've heard trying to get it to idle correctly is very difficult with that cam. Looking to do a supercharged cam build. But don't want to dump money into something that runs so so

So if i installed the NIC cam with all of the supporting mods you mentioned, would a canned zzp pcm tune work ok with it? I know a dyno tune is always preferred but just to get it started and running strong would a canned tune be harmful in anyway as long as i dont see any KR? I understand that you need improved airflow, cooler plugs, all that jaz but just to get the wheels turning would a zzp tune + supporting mods be okay withput a dyno tune? All answers are appreciated pls i need feedback.

A ZZP 1.0 flash would 100% be safe and reliable for your setup. We've spent 2 decades dialing in our 1.0 tunes and we've seen about every single combo in the books. If you're looking to further dialing in the tune we would highly recommend HPTuners and doing email remote tuning with us.

I know this is for the V6 3800 which I have but I was wondering something else also. I also have a 2013 Jetta 2.5 5 cyl. I was wondering if their were any ways to actually get more horsepower out of it without having to extensively mod it? I know their aren’t many aftermarket parts out of it except for exhaust and maybe a K&N filter. Any thoughts?

sell it, get an older mkiv jetta 1.8, get a 2.0L turbo off of one of the 2.0 cars. new injectors and a tune. 330 whp

NIC is aggressive and not for daily drivers. XPZ or intense stage 2 are about as big a cam you want for a street car.

Ya said hv3 insert for our fbodies but it says in yall description not for f bodies. Correct me if I'm wrong but the series ii that is in my 2002 f body is an l36 with a 9.4:1 comp ratio

So with the NIC cam, I’ve got the 1.9 rockers picked out and they come with the pedestal, bolts, and pushrods, also double roller timing chain, thicker front cover gasket, comp cam lifters... what else do I need to complete everything?

@@tweeeder For any cam that has too much lift, a custom cam can be spec'd with a lower lift and use a greater rocker ratio, to keep the very heavy valve-lifters(cam-lobe-followers) under control at higher RPM'S, by reducing their traveling distance in the lifter bores and decreasing valve-float. The valve springs will last longer by not having to push the lifters back down as hard. Many exotic car manufacturers used this technique in the late 60's thru 1993 or so.

Unfortunately the 3.6 didn't get much aftermarket support. However, all suspension mods will still work for you, so check those out!

Why would you go with a 1.65 rocker? Stock is 1.7. You're decreasing valve lift

Stock is 1.6 in 3800s. LS engines have 1.7 stock, if that's what you're thinking of

I tend to agree, but for those wanting just a little more and the fun of tuning what they have it's worthwhile... especially in the camaro platform where the blower doesn't fit. It's pretty easy to get the v6 to run with a stock lt1. Anyone seriously wanting to make power goes turbo anyway.
