In this video I show you how to clean your Air Conditioner yourself with basic stuff you probably have at home. I personally used coil cleaner as the cleaning agent but you can use soapy water. If you do this often then the fan blower wheel inside the actual unit won’t get dirty however if you don’t clean your Air Conditioner often like most people then the fan blower wheel inside the system will get dirty and moldy. In that case, you should get a professional bag clean (I have another video showing you this).
However, if you do what I do in the video often then your blower wheel inside the unit will be nice and clean and your Air Conditioner will be the most efficient it can be.
FYI,
Daikin units have easily removable covers however other brands can be quite difficult. For example, Fujitsu covers are a nightmare to get off! If you are struggling to remove the front cover, I suggest googling how to do it. Good luck!

This is 1000x better than the video where the guys have a tarp wrapped around it and they are spraying a hose into it and running it into a garbage can! I'm like NO WAY! ha ha. Thanks! I clean the filters all the time but it's time for a deep clean.

Isn't that bad. Also with the water you know all the dirt is being washed away. I bet If you did that to this guys pump then you would see dirty water still after cleaning. I've done it both ways and water is by far better for a deep clean. It washing the dirt away. Not trying to evaporate it off

As long as you’re good with the chemical overspray on your painted wall 😮 This video does not include cleaning the blower wheel which is the part that gets dirtiest on the indoor register and essential to clean.

Nice and Awesome music at the end. Oh so that cool cleaner don’t have to be rinsed off?
@maracservices
@maracservices 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It does need to be rinsed off. There’s 2 ways of doing that. 1. You can rinse it off with water or 2. You can put the unit onto cooling mode and let it run for a while. The evaporator sweats and flushes all the cleaner away down the drain. In this video I ran the system on cooling afterwards. Before rinsing you need to let the cleaner sit and do it’s thing. Thanks for the comment.

@@maracservices Awesome!!! thanks for responding. I kinda thought so that the sweating was rinsing it. But my concern was not knowing if the drain hole would be able to handle any big particles or wet dust as it sweats. You know what I mean? Oh do they sell a no rinse coil cleaner? That just came to my mind. I am going to Google search it. Just a thought 💭 🙂. You know what Mitch they do sell it on Amazon too. Curious if there was a reason for that odd angle installation of the outdoor unit. I'm not sure why, but mine does specifically say it's needs to be level

When you're spraying the coils of the indoor unit, does the solution drip into the pan and drain out the drain like the condensation normally would? I see videos of folks using bags to contain the liquid, but you seem to have something much simpler working.
@maracservices
@maracservices 4 күн бұрын
@@samkaplan2482 yep sure does. You just need to make sure the solution is non toxic as it’ll go into the drain or garden. Something that is antibacterial but non toxic. I have a video of a more involved clean which uses the bag setup. This is a way for a home over to do it themselves without buying a bag. Cheers

I have seen those calgon drain bags used and they get the job done if used properly on the indoor units. My HVAC company does a pretty average job at best cleaning my BR mini. Nothing to this level. They will be fired now... lol

How do you clean the blower wheel? That’s the dirtiest part!
@maracservices
@maracservices Жыл бұрын
Take the louvers off and clean it with a brush or pressurised sprayer however if you clean the filter regularly, then the blower wheel won’t be dirty in the slightest. That’s the whole purpose of the filter.

@@maracservicesto be fair the blower wheel moves air with human breath, sweat, smells, humidity, it also goes through moist/dry cold/hot variations… for a blower wheel to stay pristine is unusual. There are 0 easy ways to access certain daikin models but it’s worth it to clean from time to time, it depends on how confident an owner is and how much risk/mess they can accept. Many airhandlers are in rentals and get run without maintenance until they die and get replaced with a new one (abysmal aussie style rental)

Thank you for the video! I've subscribed. Is that a Daikin CTXS model? Do you ever remove the blower? If so, how do you do that? If not, does just hosing it down clean the blower? I can't find any videos for removing the blower from the CTSX.
@maracservices
@maracservices Жыл бұрын
This unit is over 10 years old and has been serviced every year so the blower wheel was spotless. So no I didn’t touch it however if the unit hasn’t been done in a while then yep I’ll clean the blower wheel. This unit is an L Series which is a slightly different shape. With the CTSX, you can dismantle the unit slightly to take the blower wheel off however when ever I need to clean the blower wheel I use a big tarp and bucket underneath that captures the water and I just use a hand pump pressure washer to blow the blower wheel from the front. I believe it leaves it perfectly clean and doesn’t require pulling it apart. Have a look at this link below to see what I mean. www.sparkydirect.com.au/p/cleaning-cover/cleaning-hood-for-split-system-air-conditioners.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwyOuYBhCGARIsAIdGQRMTkxbfix99tsKPR0lPDdEJugrxK33AQGrF_G-C-Pwag8FrZ8GF5VMaAu0jEALw_wcB

@@notsohandytim5090 ok!!! I did not realise you had suffered this fate. I have not, you have given me insight. My experience of Daikin plastics being a bit sub par is limited to the case of the air handler not being able to last any full cycle of heat or cooling without buckling and changing shape… daikin manual states: airconditioner making cracking sound? :NOT A PROBLEM lmao it’s hilarious, ive become numb to the lax standards… I’m truly sad for your experience. "Danger! Causes Serious Eye Damage" prominently displayed on the label, yet the video illustrates disregard to this warning with the absence of eye protection when applying the cleaner to the indoor unit. Please be careful and take a moment for safety. Always consider the potential consequences (if for example there was any splashing from the spray application).
