Thanks for making this video, it has been very informative! I have a 2005 Cobalt manual that has been having the same surging/lugging and rough idle issues. I'm also putting in some e3 spark plugs in addition to cleaning out the intake.

Hey man found your video fairly helpful. Found this remedy on a forum to fix my rough engine idle at stopping and starting. Your video helped me out with knowing where sensors and screws were to take apart and procedures on how to clean with battery and connector disconnected from the throttle body prior to cleaning. My constructive criticism is your video was kinda backwards as most people can put things back together once they know how to take it apart. Your video only showed the putting back together and i think showing how to take apart and clean would have been more important. Just in case you wanted to make another video or for your next one ;) thanks for being the most helpful that i could find for this issue, i appreciate you.

What was your voltage of tps1 and.tps 2 with key on engine off.

Yeah I'm dealing with a few issues including dirty tb, bad vvt solenoids and possible bad maf. I also got a bad ground and im getting the T/C light come on and service traction light. Basically my car is a mess right now. Hopefully get all these issues dealt with this month and get my csr running properly again.

Just something I figured out doing this the other day. Disconnect the battery or plug from the throttle body first. If you don't you'll probably get left with a high idle afterwards. I guess the problem works itself out with a relearn, after about 2 weeks of driving. Can also let it run 3 minutes, turn off for 1 minute. Repeat a few times. Those did not work for me. Thought I was left with a 50-150$ PCM Reflash. Cleared codes before the first two methods, no dice. Out of desperation, I tried disconnecting both the - & + battery terminals and clamping them together for 5 minutes. No longer does my car decide to drive forward by itself at red lights or stay at 3k rpm going down a hill with my foot off the pedal. Maybe you'll find this after panicking and it might work for you. Not sure if it was just by coincidence or what. I don't know what all it reset, my TPMS all took a while to come back online though.

Does the throttle body sensor position fix the power reduced warning that is common in cobalt cars ? Also, hate those cheap obd scanner. Btw, I have a cheaper one lol.

My 2009 cobalt LT revs while driving...going between 30 and 40 but only sometimes any idea what this could be? No engine light on or any lights for that matter I just passed inspection a few days ago also.

I've done a thorough cleaning and my car is still idling high. It's been about a week now. When I first start it, some days it'll idle properly..... until I touch the gas. That's when it'll spike and shoot straight to 2k then eventually settle to 1500. What's the deal? I'm burning alot off extra gas and it's killing my pockets. My cobalt is an 08 2.2 manual non ss.

Hi. Thanks for the video. It was a big help to my Chevy cobalt. However, after cleaning the throttle body and putting it back in, my car idles pretty high. Around 13-1500 rpm. I've driven the car around for about 20 minutes or so since doing this and the problem hasn't subsided. Any ideas on what I could do to get my idle back into normal operating range?

WARNING: To those that DIY... after a Chevy COBALT throttle body is cleaned, the car's idle will most likely be better BUT also abnormally high (REGARDLESS if you moved the butterfly or not during cleaning). The car's computer will need to relearn a new idle. Moreover, the idle will need to be relearned at a dealership service department or other qualified mechanic. I had this problem and went threw all the on-line suggested methods to make the computer relearn the idle and they did not work. You name it, and I tried it including disconnecting the battery, and various combinations of pumping brakes and or gas peddle, gearing the idle down, driving for miles, etc. The cost to relearn the idle was $135... well worth the money. Car's idle was very smooth and normal after dealer relearned it.
