As a millennial, most people I know are addicted to their phone screens, so texting and messaging them in social media is the best way to get their attention. Limiting screen time makes sense when there is an abundance of other ways to connect, but in this pandemic and social distancing enforced, it's hard to put the phone down. Other than reading brick and mortar books, exercising, meditating and doing household chores, every other way of keeping myself busy requires my phone...

all good info here, and yet...... lets hope lockdown ends soon. Even having a coffee somewhere on my own is enough to stave off the loneliness, and with everything closed down and very cold wet weather, even sitting on a park bench isn't an option just now. I've taken so much for granted. But maybe that's the lesson

Vanessa I just love❤ how passionate you are about what you do. I just like the way you understand people like us because you yourself have been through all this like you say 'recovering social awkward' couldn't relate any more. I wish all love and strength to you, keep up the good work! We all love you♥. Ykw? one of my future goals is to meet you in person and tell you how incredible you are.💯

I'm alone 99.8% of the day, every day. I go days where no one speaks to me, so my loneliness is literal aloneness, it wears you down after awhile, being rejected after trying to date, trying to make friends to no avail. I've tried joining activity groups, etc. I'm finally getting to travel but I'm doing it alone n its a bummer but i didn't want to miss out my whole life.

I’m currently a college student and I have hardly any friends. Whenever I see people with their friends, usually several times a day, I think to myself, why can’t that be me? I have talked to some new people this year, yet I don’t feel like I’ve made any genuine connections with people. How do I get up to the point of always having friends around doing fun stuff all the time and study together and stuff like that? It’s been causing a good deal of stress and slight depression and Anxiety. Thanks.

Maybe i'm wrong here. But would first step not be to find out if you are lonely or feel lonely? They are worlds apart. I have been very isolatatet my whole life, i learn to live with it, never to have someone to talk to or with. I have seen many videos about loneliness, but not one have talked about feeling alone and being alone. I have never had friends, i do not know what that word mean, ok i have had ADHD my whole life, and maybe that is why i never had a normal life, but being alone was my life, no matter where i treid to go. So what kind of loneliness are talking about?
@ScienceOfPeople Жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear this ❤ You are not alone! I would say yes identifying if you feel lonely would be an important first step. We have a full article that provides more info here that may be helpful: www.scienceofpeople.com/loneliness/

@@ScienceOfPeople Thanks for replying, and i will take a look at the site :-D But when contact with other poeple brings bad memories with it, it is not easy to break the isolation, it has to come from others, there are a reason why we are lonely in the first place :-D

Loneliness Is Something I Don't Wish For Anyone. Take Me For Example: The Only One That Knows How Lonely I Am Is God & Jesus. Nobody Else. I Have ADHD And Also Autistic (was diagnosed with Asperger's). Even When You're Around Family, You Can Be Really Lonely Especially When You're Not Close With Anyone. You Have Too Many People That Is Autistic That Is Very Lonely, And Also Suicidal. Autistic People Most Of The Time Are Usually Ignored. We Shouldn't Have To Meet Anyone When It Should Be The Opposite. Why Don't Someone Come To Us For Once. Why Don't Someone Come To You, And Say They Care When A Lot Of People Won't Do Anything.

@@justinebourke9449 its like.. To them.. Why dont i just snap out of it? Why do i keep talking about how i feel and about ny bouts of sadness and panic attacks. There is some simpathy...but people get tired. I understand it. So im never completely myself. I put on a brave front and pretend all is well. Keeping that up makes it all worse. So... "Successful people can have very little people they rely on" Sure, face to face... but none of them are the ones stocking their grocery store, or delivering their postmates or keeping infrastructure running... we're still entirely dependent on other people, no matter how remote money may allow some of us to live, regardless of our needs for friendship and romance.

Why combat loneliness? Loneliness is a boon! It is a great opportunity to eschew all useless talk with others, turn INWARD and investigate "WHO AM I"! Here is an Upanishadic saying: अहमेको नमे कश्चित्, नाहमन्यस्य कस्यचित्। नाहं पश्यामि यस्याहं, तं न पश्यामि यो मम॥ Meaning: "I alone am, No one belongs to me, nor do I belong to any one. I do not see any one, whom I belong to, nor do I see any one who is mine"!

I used to be okay with just me and my husband's company. However, I met this wonderful woman whom i share almost likes and dislikes. I decided to choose her as my bff. We did things together and such. Everything was going well but in an instant, she had to move and to both of us it was too fast, we didn't even blinked and now it's been a month and I am trying really hard not to show that loneliness emotion as I know she is lonely herself too and don't want her to feel bad cuz i feel bad. 🥲🥲
