UMAMI of JAPAN

2 жыл бұрын

In this new and exciting series, we will be exploring Japanese umami through cooking videos, learning traditional Japanese recipes which rely on the delicate flavor profiles unique to cooking in this region.
Today we’re showing you how to make “donabe gohan”, a type of steamed rice made in an earthenware pot. Of course, even if you don’t have an earthenware pot, you can follow these directions on your stovetop with any type of pot and lid for a naturally sweet and fluffy rice. Don’t be afraid to make too much rice - you can use the leftovers to make Japanese rice balls (onigiri), and we’ll show you how at the end of this video!

This was the fluffiest, sweetest rice I've ever made! I used to always use flavorings on my rice back home, but learning how to make rice properly really allowed me to appreciate it's natural flavor. Good rice goes great with almost every meal. Give it a try!
