This is part two of how to diagnose a fueling issue on your N54 powered BMW. In this video I show you how to replace your low pressure fuel pump.
Once replaced I take it for a drive to see if it helped the hesitation issue and data log to see how the new fuel pump is performing. Turns out I had a bad low pressure sensor also for a while, and unfortunately for me I noticed too late now I have a bad HPFP and a failing low pressure fuel pump. Thanks for all the details in video.

I had this issue plus misfiring , after replacing going with colder NGk spark plug and gap it to .20mm my problem was solved no more boost hesitation under wide open throttle. Your throttle reading could be from ECS aka traction control trying to keep the wheels from spinning . I would disable while running data log or testing purpose . Hope this help.MHD flashed and set it to linear mapping Will smooth things out for you.

These videos are great, I’m going through a very similar issue, hestitation with 2k to 4K and no issue after. I do have a rough ish idle when I start, so I’m thinking it might be my injectors. Going to be down lots of home work on your videos. Thank you!!

Yes, I’m running 93 octane 24/7/365. I’ve never run e85, ever. I run a fuel injector cleaner (2x) a year. I like Techtron or Liqui Moly.

Old but forever helpful videos. Thanks. 2AAF is gone after changing the sensor and the pump? What is the freeze frame like for 2AAF? Criteria for triggering when pressure below some hpa?

Try changing out your VANOS solenoids exhaust and intake also check out your mass flow air sensor they go bad also

helpful video..my bmw 325i has a code p0456? do you think is the fuel pump that i need to replace? i replaced the dmtl and the gas cap already. im still getting the code p0456. help pls...???

My n55 has 165 k I am getting weak power in low rpm ranges (after takeoff) but totally fine in high rpm , cold start quieter than usual as well . Could this be prime suspect? Just did my injectors recently too

Would you still recommend this pump years later as I've seen your other vid where you've upgraded? My lpfp is in the 40s psi at idle. It's a 2007 so I figured it was due for a change. Since my 335i car is bone stock, I wouldn't mind a cheap alternative.

When DME sees low fuel pressure (actual is less than desired, hence a 2AAF), would it adjust fuel trim to high to compensate?

Hey i had a 29f3 code on my e93 335i i changed the low fuel sensor but now on the low pressure fuel monitor (mhd) the psi fluctuate between 72.5 to 75 psi on de acceleration and it hits 85-86 psi on high rpm! I have mhd stage 1+ flashed on my car, so no more exhaust burbbles and pops please help!

Hello bro you are a master mind and i need some help, my car is 535 lci fully stock no tunes, index 12 5k miles old coils and plugs , hpfp new , lp fp new filter new.. My car throws 2D2E throttle value Angle engine light... i haven't replaced tbody yet, car drives fine.. the only thing i have noticed if i start my car same day multiple times it kinds of forgets where to start and rpm jumps for 10 sec but slowly gets stable and idel is kind of smooth... what would you suggest

Finally have you found your hesitation problem? Seems like my sensor is fine. I have a normal graphics but my jb4 + back end flash still change to map 4 at high rpm due to low pressure

My hesitation problem turned out to be unrelated. I was low on transmission fluid.

I tried everything to remove that fuel line is stuck there hard but I'll try your method tomorrow see how it goes

Followed this and the fpr video. Fpr slow start fixed, but now when refilling gas it starts to leak heavily on the fuel pump side under the car. Any idea where I messed up?

Great series, great explanation. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I am about to find the culprit on my E93 and I am guessing it's the same problem as yours(faulty pressure sensor + week lpfp) I also get an engine fault from time to time (under hard acceleration and cold start) + rough idling on cold start.

Changed the fuel pressure sensor and no more rough idling, no more engine fault! YEY!! BUT something else happens, from time to time under acceleration the car runs rough (I guess 5 out of the 6 cylinders are running) until I turn off and turn on again. These faults are present: 2AAF Fuel pump 29DC Cylinder injection shutdown: Low pressure in the high pressure system

@@Tasteslikepetrol Changed Low Pressure Fuel Pump => soled the fuel pump message; Change High Pressure Fuel Pump => solved HPFP error and no more engine FULAT AND NO MORE LIMP MODE!!!! YEEEY!! But I still get cylinder injection cut (but not because of low pressure) sometimes when I cold start the engine and it's cold outside(started happening about a month ago)... I guess I have to change either: sparkplubs, coils or injectors (maybe it works by cleaning them).

@@Tasteslikepetrol From What I read the failing of LPFP is more common but in my case the HPFP also failed :( Probably because I didn't change the LPFP in time... it stressed out the HPFP... dunno. Glad everything worked out for you! :)

hi after watching your video i look at my lfp sensor mine was going as low as 45psi under load and still pulls strong, and mine is e93 it has fuel pump ecu,and looking at the pump speed desired 5000 rpm and actual 2500 rpm speed so my pump is on the way out, i've been having bad idle on cold starts,thinking about your flat spot it might be loosing vacuum through waste gate solenoids cheers ,

Yeah I found that I was losing transmission oil from a cooler line and after fixing that and topping up the fluid the hesitation wet away.

About the actual trottlebody part: doesn't that have to do any with the boost target and actual pressure? It wants a sertain pressure in the manifold and when youre spooling up they haven't got that pressure yet. When the manifold hits pressure the trottle can regulate and at higher rpm your boost is dropping which will wide-open de trottlebody again.

I have not replaced my fuel pressure regulator. It’s original from the factory w/ 164,000 miles on it. The car starts right up no long cranks in the slightest

And you're on full pump gas, no ethanol? Your system seems perfectly healthy.

Have you considered the MHD Off-The-Shelf (OTC) Tune to see if the dip is from the custom tune you have running?

@14:13, the data log, its weird that the actual throttle plate closes for a moment, when it should be fully open, its strange the DME is telling the throttle to close. Unless there's some condition, not traction telling the throttle to limit power. Just a guess to try a different map, it may or may not rule this out.

Yeah I've been running this tune for a while, I'm going to try my coils next. I'd like to solve this issue before going to a new tune. I am planning on getting a new tune once I install inlets. I'll be posting a new video regarding testing the coils in INPA.

I know this may sound funny but I have a MHD tune and Alpina flash as well and I get a stutter or a kinda a shake when in low rpm and mid throttle as well, what I noticed the engine is trying to boost but Alpina is trying to keep it in a high gear low rpm and that's when I get that hesitation l, what I did to resolve it was in MHD I selected the option to apply linear throttle mapping and that fixed my issue but you did need to replace that lpfp sensor for sure... let me know if this helps

Coils have 15K on them and spark plugs about 5K. I'm starting to think the coils I bought are faulty so will be looking into them next. I figured if it can clear up past 4K then it's probably not coils but that logic is probably flawed. I'll update once I've replaced the coils.

Bad Coil on Plug usually will throw a Misfire DTC.

Ok. I just changed my LPFP. I bought the VDO version on FCP Euro for $169.00. Before the change I was getting 72psi at idol & 42psi at WOT. Now I’m getting 83psi at idol & 79psi at WOT. I know that’s about 10 psi more than you got. What’s your take on that ? Please Advise...

I have a 08 535xi and hpfp was going out. Long cranks and ruff running when engine running. Had the hpfp replace with a new one and now all it does is crank all day only now and not starting. Changed new spark plugs, new ignition coils, new fuel injectors, new fuel sensors... Still crank no start. Code that pops up is 2FBE. Spray starting fluid in intake and starts up for about a second. Ruled out not an electrical problem. Help please?
