So sorry you had to go through that. I owned a mini Kwiaken in carbon fiber with an acid washed blade. I enjoyed the shape, just a matter of taste. I also disassembled and cleaned and reassembeled the knife. 29 balls per side UGH. It still didnt have the best action. I suspect the acid wash and the tiny balls were a bad combination. It wasnt terrible, but im picky. Anyway, I thought after struggling with mine, it might be funny to watch someone else struggle, but I was wrong. I felt myself cringe again just from watching you go through that. Thank you for the effort though, and I wish you many easy disassemblies.

It seems odd to me that IKBS hadn't been updated to a caged ball bearing. Just makes no sense.

I disassembled the newer version of the Kwaiken Mini, the one with the D2 blade, and here’s what I found: the IKBS bearings are gone, they were changed to caged bearings which have fewer balls; the inside spacer screws are now T6 and there’s only two on each side.

Compared to a caged bearing system what are the advantages of IKBS? It looks like a nightmare to do maintenance on it. Why companies are still using this insane system?

I don`t get the idea of loose bearings in a knife pivot. Caged bearings are a much better idea when having to disassemble and clean and lube a knife from time to time. It makes it a knife I would not buy just like tip down pocket clips keep me from buying one of those as well.

Magnatism might affect your balls. Perhaps try using plastic, nylon or some other non metallic implements when trying to manipulate your balls all 30 ish of them. Deserves at least 2 thumbs up for messing with all if them balls. Make of that what you will.

terrible design. loose bbs... whoever designed this lost their marbles.

T5 inner torx screws are fucking stupid. You know it's a German design with all the unnecessary BS with this model. I received one in a trade, it flipped fine but closing action was gritty. I noticed a little ball in there moving freely. Didn't look right, so I took it apart and it's been nothing but a headache. I stripped both t5 screws and the knife now is useless. I've never had to throw a knife in the trash before, but first time for everything. DO NOT BUY NOT WORTH IT.

This isn't a Spyderco knife, why is Nick reviewing it?
