Bran's character was not developed since S7. His story up until he became the 3ER and escaped was great. After all that the potential of this character was ruined. Who is this ancient being? Who created him? What are his motivations? What can he do? We got nothing. Apparently all he can do is stare...

Tyrion compares serfdom and slavery, and while thinking Serfdom is better he does think it's just a less severe version. But really, the people just want a decent ruler, Dany is posed to be just that when she doesn't have to rip traditions of slavery out of every facet of society. After Drogo kills Viserys the next chapter has one of Dany's handmaiden's remark "You have not smiled since your brother died." She names Viserion after him. She says during her poor health induced hallucination at the end of the fifth book "I loved you, once." She continually makes excuses and tries to get him to be treated better (Not even stopping after he drew a sword during the feast. Her first thought is to explain to him it's a big No-No to have a blade in Vaes Dothrak) But when you threaten to carve somebodies son out of their womb, you run out of chances. The Crucifixion happens the same way in the books. What may or may not happen in the show is Dany going even more introspective than she already is, trying too hard to make peace and wondering if she has the taint. (Barristan says she doesn't.) She's still not in Westeros, but she did kill the Tarly's in the same manner it would be pretty dumb and cruel. Considering that D&D seemed to take the very thing the show was named after and "Subverted our expectations" to make Bran king because they hacked his storyline to pieces, I believe the books endings is well and truly up in the air.

Exactly, all Dany had to do was sack Kings Landing and it all would have been fine. Hell, Tywin did it and it worked out fine for Robert. But for some reason the idea of civilian casualties is completely unheard of when it comes time for Dany to do what she needs to do. How hilarious is it that they propose starving the city instead; as if people wouldn't die from that. It's like the whole universe has conspired to make Dany the bad guy. She even sacrificed her army and fought side-by-side with the north and they still don't respect her. Her state of mind was fine, she had 3 dragons and all her unsullied and dothraki warriors at full force. If she burned the Red Keep along with Cersei, she would broken the alliance that Cersei and Euron made back in season 7. Dany wanted to siege KL, her advisers cautioned her otherwise, and the whole thing has spiraled out of control into a colossal clusterfuck. Now if the show treated it like her advisers were idiots and she should have just sacked KL that would be one thing. Instead, we're supposed to believe that Dany is unfit to rule and Tyrion and Varys need to stop her because she's out of control. Like, she's only in this terrible situation because of those two dunderheads in the first place. To make her "madness" a thing both Tyrion and Varys were dumbed down to a ridiculous degree and achieved absolutely nothing in two seasons. And were only used as plot devices to thin her army out, get rid of her allies, dragons etc. Both of them are turned into 21st century pacifist. What a great writing, for all his time with Dany on Dragonstone, Varys did absolutely nothing, no scheming against Cersei, no attempts on her life, no spying. Zero effort to take KL. Nothing. He barely even talked and just stood around like an extra. Until the plot demanded to be the plot device to act against Dany. Then he started writing letters and scheme. Whole Mad Dany arc is forced and is unnatural. If it wasn't, the smartest characters around her wouldn't be acting out of character and being complete fools. Or practically voiceless extras for the entire 7 season (Varys). It feels cheap because Dany literally did everything she could and made all the right moves still got fucked over to the nth degree. It just doesn't make sense. It'd be different if the show made it seem like these seemed like the right choices at the time but were wrong in hindsight, but they don't. The "right move" was apparently to not siege KL, as evidenced by how we're supposed to root for Varys/Tyrion conspiring against Dany to stop it. The "right move" was to go north and fight against the WW, but in doing so Dany lost half her armies, two dragons, and gained zero respect. Jon's character and parentage are literally plot devices for the mad queen plot. D&D also stripped Jon's personality and we don't know how Jon feels about his parentage. Missandei has no interaction with Daenerys this season. They have talked plenty of times in private since season 3, but no gotta make Daenerys feel isolated somehow for the mad queen plot. Dany's death should have had massive fallout, especially since she named all her Dothraki bloodriders so they should have been trying to kill Jon at all costs. It should have been a whole new wave of chaos; you can’t kill a queen and expect no consequences. But there were no consequences for killing Dany, her death is swept under the rug in like five minutes. One of the my main issue is that the show equates ruthless ambition with madness. I think in the books Daenerys is going towards a path of being so ruthless that she is called mad (by her enemies) but that she is never mentally ill like her father was. Making her mad take away all her agency as a character and reduces the weight of her choices as something "she couldn't help doing because she's crazy."

Is she gonna go back after the battle is won and finally persue the throne? Whelp, that'll be another advisor and dragon! But don't worry, we were kind enough to restock her armies for her. Sometimes we're given no win situations, but the reasons why both are losses should be logically sound and reasonable. The North not showing an inkling of trust towards her, most notably Sansa and Arya, is the worst part of the entire aftermath of the Battle of Winterfell. "Yeah, I know you turned away from your goals that you've had a boner for for the past few years or so to help us, risking everything you've worked so hard for to save a people who don't support you. And I know we would've been totally fucked without your help, buuuut I don't like you because I guess Bran isn't the only one who can see the future you fuckin bitch."

Tyrion, Arya and Sansa giving Daenerys the sideye and questioning her sanity when they’ve either a) cut up and baked a man’s sons into a pie, b) fed a man to his dogs, or c) shot their own father with a crossbow while he was taking a shit, was painful to witness. It was glaringly obvious the writers were trying to force feed the “Dany is crazy” narrative. It honestly pisses me off knowing they knew several seasons ago the series would end this way and they didn’t prepare for this sooner. 🤦🏻‍♀️

If they really wanted to make Daenerys evil for the end of the show, they needed to develop it. I don't agree with it, because it think it's a fucking lame twist despite it being prophesized earlier in the show, but they couldve done it right. But they would've needed way more episodes to do it. They just fucked it up, period. They knew they were at the end of the story. They knew they were done with the show and wanted to end it quick. If that was the case they should've just ended the show with Jon and Daenerys ruling together as a couple. Then people could be happy to see their characters get the ending they deserve. It's not a problem they made her the mad queen in and of itself but the way they did fucking defies all belief.

You know what if... all dragons had a shared memory? That could have been an interesting plot point and a possible explanation to why the dragons had died off after being chained down for so long is because they still remembered the time where they flew free in their previous lives and this lead to severe depression from birth. This would also provide reasons as to why only Targaryens can command dragons, why they hatched for Daenerys, and in the end could have provided a use for Bran. Imagine this: Having foreseen that Jon would kill Daenerys he arrives just in time as Drogon is about to kill Jon, wheeling himself out of the darkness like some combination of Professor X and Batman. He then talks the dragon down, as someone who has also seen the history of the world through a shared memory, and implores the dragon to do what would truly be best for the Targaryens... or at least the last Targaryen... and destroy the iron throne. Heck they could have been expounded on Bran's time powers by showing him having interacted with the dragons of the past, and that the dragon remembers him as well.

And what's the point of only one country having nukes if you want to write a good story? The story is dragons is a story of proliferation. Dany will likely lose Viserion and Rhaegal to the Ironborn and someone else (presumably Jon Snow, Aegon Targaryen or Dorne)

@@qaiser648 dragons in GoT are very intelligent. Not quite human smart, but intelligent nonetheless. Most comparisons liken them to other apex predators... dogs, wolves, big cats, etc. Plus the bonds they make with their riders would tell him something is up. And in aCoK it is mentioned that they have their own language, but that's just basically hearsay. So it isn't inconceivable for an especially adept dragon like Drogon to make this conclusion. I would like to see some more decision making skills to be shown leading up to something like that tho, just to set the precedent. But again, we can't expect D&D to put that much effort in, can we?

I would have believed it if he wanted to kill Jon snow and Jon hid behind the throne, burning it to bits and after he runs out of fire breath, Jon would run to the open hole of the castle and try to escape by jumping down, breaking one of his legs. The dragon would fly after him, and he would be limping but then he would be surrounded by dany's army. They wouldn't know what was going on because they don't know Dany is dead yet. So they would let him through but the dragon is causing an uproar killing some of the soldiers in the way to get to Jon. And the last scene would be of Jon turning around and seeing the dragon's open mouth latching onto half his body. Jon would have died for what he believed in and not quietly. At least that would have made sense.

This is a problem George R. R. Martin himself adressed. He said that there are two types of writers: when writing a murder mystery, one type will decide it was the butler who did it and, when their readers figure out around halfway, they keep the mystery as planned. The second type, when seeing that the readers figured out, decides to outplay them by suddenly making it seem like it was the chambermaid. The first delivers a good experience that doesn't force itself to be smarter than the readers; the second forces itself to be smarter and fails because it changes things midway to acomodate the plot twist that exists only for the sake of making readers feel surprised for no reason with no foreshadow nor anything of the sorts. D&D are the second type.

I did this in creative writing 101. Hell I was only required 200 words. As soon as my computer counted 200 words I immediately ended the story. The professor would always knock my grade down for an incomplete and unresolved endings. Notes: "There is more to this story, plot or ending that could be developed." ... I still did better than D&D; I got a B-.

Obsidian is a type of volcanic rock; which if you had those magma temperatures, and the right rock formations (plentiful enough) - you could easily have armed a few armies rather fast. Obsidian is a rather easy mineral create. It isn't one of the hard ones. Granted, the question is: do any of the maesters or people in GoT study geology, or have a basic understanding of the elements involved?

I know that is my theory. They finished writing this show in 2017 and quickly moved on to Star Wars. They then, went back and quickly filmed the show last year.

As a dolphin, a crow or an elephant. It’s the same with Walking Dead, watched up to the end of the season before Jake is killed in the show, then go on with the books from there. I would do that with this show. While Sitch was joking, actually adding a “Brootherhood”-like version years from now to make up for it would be great, BUT, since everyone will be too old by then, and it would be very expensive, make it full CGI with the original cast’s voices. Simple solution.

D and D were big on nonsense at this point. I think they were trying to excuse having certain scenes that shouldn't exist. That D and D wrecked a perfectly good tv series and broke with multiple characters actual characters isn't hard to see. And they likely did it just for shock value and to failingly try to excuse scenes that shouldn't have happened-they likely changed season 8 from wildfire burning King's Landing to dragon fire because they wanted the multiple scenes from episode six of season 8 even though they realized those scenes shouldn't happen. 1. Yes, commentary from computer effects people is evidence that a change was made and an earlier plan for season 8 was for most of King's Landing to burn due to wildfire, they were told the plan then later told to change the scenes to "not wildfire". Link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/addxdtOcmd67eps.html This is just 1 bit of evidence wildfire was the earlier intended way King's Landing would burn. 2. That means Jon would not have agreed to assassinate Dany as a massive wildfire disaster was never what she wanted. 3. And if the start of season 8's episode six did play out then the ending wouldn't have happened. A Grey Worm already killing prisoners would've killed Jon and Tyrion day 1, not waiting for a council to assemble that he doesn't take orders from anyway. 4. And if a council was formed to pick a new king then both Jon and Gendry have better claims to the crown so their names would have been discussed first, not Bran's. 5. If Tyrion's brain was functioning Bran telling him "Why do you think I came all this way?" would've been a clue to Tyrion that Bran either planned all this and is a mass murderer including of Tyrion's brother or (if one doesn't think Bran is quietly being a puppet master) it would still let Tyrion know Bran foresaw one of the worst disasters to hit Westeros and let it happen just so he could be king meaning Bran is utterly useless. Either way Tyrion would probably go scratch that Bran the Broken idea and say someone else should be king (and if the former is true Tyrion may try to think of a way to kill Bran as both revenge and to rid Westeros of him).
