This same thing happened to me just a couple of months ago. It definitely doesn't rock, but I did appreciate the attempt at naturalism within the confines of Q1.

I played all the expansions for the first time a few years ago, and I barely remembered anything from them. After getting the urge to play Quake because of the recent DWPlays video, I went through the main game again, and despite feeling that I had my fill of Q1 for a while, I started playing this. After the floor collapsed under me right around this part, I borequit.

Yeah... The original mission packs for Quake 1 are... not good.

I highly recommend Noah Caldwell latest Quake retrospective, taken from a story point of view. It covers all expansions as well. I personally likes Scourge of Armagon a lot more, than i did Quake 2 expansions, but they are all lovely in their own way.

Yeah he did a good job with that, though he's always been so narrative-oriented that he tends to miss a lot of stuff when it comes to gameplay-focused titles like this. And "lovely" is not the word I'd use to describe Quake 1's mission packs.

the expansions of Quake 1 and 2 are rarely talked about, despite them being pretty great (except the original version of Ground Zero)

I think my most frustrating FPS encounter was in Red Faction 1. You're on the tram and those assholes with the rail gun that can shoot through walls start sniping at ya. One shot kill on Impossible

The railgun snipers in RF1 were pretty infuriating. Thankfully by that point you have one of your own.

I didn't have any major issues with Quake's 1 expansions. P.S. KZfaq thinks the game being played is Minecraft. 🙄

Fixed it. Not sure why it did that since I always manually select the game during upload but YT does weird crap all the time.

This isn't a matter of skill. It's just level memorization. Haven't played through Scourge of Armagon before now so I didn't have the level knowledge going into this.
