Just a little advice, when plugging a tire after you get the plug in the tire give it a 180⁰ twist before pulling it back out. It gives the plug a lice little knot on the inside and gives you just a bit more security.

I'm nearly 56, and, as a child, I watched some old timers put a flame to the plug once it was in to help bond and seal the plug. I've personally only done this type of a patch a few times in my life. Like you said, it's better to take it in and have a patch put on the inside. The great thing about new tires is they come with a road hazard warranty that covers that sort of thing but if you are fortunate, the hole is on the tread and not on the side-wall and better yet, you have a spare to get you through wherever you are. Glad to see you give this type of education on your channel. I started watching your channel a week or so ago and caught the Expo you went to in Colorado when you were talking to Marco and then I caught the video where you were doing a walk around on his Diesel Jeep and his trailer. I've been thinking about getting a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, and seeing some of the upgrades these drivers are putting in their Jeeps. I watched the interview you done with Jim on the different front and rear axles, which was very informative and addressed some of the problems that I had heard that Jeeps have. I was impressed with the information on the 44 for the front and 60 on the back to address costs and power. So much great information on all the different styles of Jeeps and set ups for Overlanding! I done a lot of camping as a child at the Desoto Ben Lake, which is a National Wildlife Refuge, and caught a lot of fish but got to see a lot of, what I thought as a child was, cool things like beaver dams and Otters. It was a couple hour drive, I think, from where we lived in Omaha, Nebraska. It was a very long time ago, but mom loved to fish, so being outdoors was some of my greatest childhood memories! I've recently started looking at tents to get back into camping, and it was about time for a new vehicle, so when picking a friend up at a Dodge dealership while they serviced his truck and put new tires on it, when we came back from breakfast, I went in and saw a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon on the showroom floor, and it peaked my interest. One thing led to another, which led to me being more interested in different Jeep styles, and going off the beaten path is of great interest to me, so your channel has been coming up. It also gave me a little more understanding of these tents that I had seen on Academy Sports and Outdoors online. The way they hang out past the vehicle didn't quite make much sense to me until I saw you do the walk around Marco's Jeep. I've learned a lot and really like the idea of being able to go to trails that some might only hike into lol. Thanks for sharing all the knowledge. I really like what you had done to your JK and all the axle and suspension upgrades and bumpers, etc. Thanks again for sharing all the different upgrades of yours and others off road vehicles and some of the different trails you have went on. I watched the video of you and Marco doing a pretty tough trail. I thought of some of the cameras I saw you show on your channel that allow you to see where your front wheels are, and that seemed like it would make for a great spotter when doing some of those technical trails I watched you go on. If you and Marco go on the Rubicon trail, I would like to see it! I've heard it mentioned several times now and am curious as to just how tough it really is. Because I've seen you do at least one, what I thought was pretty tough, with Marco, so I'm thinking, is the Rubicon tougher? Anyway, thanks again for sharing so much knowledge and experience on some of the different trails. Great interview with the mechanic at Moab and also Jim and some of the great knowledge and wisdom he has shared!

I have put as many as fifteen plugs in a large hole, to get off the trail. Definitely a solid tool to have in your arsenal when off roading.

HS Auto shop made us learn that skill to pass the class. Great skill to have out anywhere. Like you said could be the difference of walking or driving to safety. A small air compressor is always in both my car and truck. This and changing a tire should be taught in ALL driving classes and on the driver test. :)

i always fix my flat this way and never run into a problem driving either local or highway. I know there are better fixes but i really feel this method is good enough for everyday driving

Helpful and informative. So far in my 68 years, just one flat and it was a major tear in the sidewall. Glad I had decided to always carry a full-size spare even though I'd never gotten a flat.

Having the on board air on my Tacoma and carrying my tire repair kit under the seat has allowed me to fix numerous vehicles of unsuspecting travelers both in town in a parking lot, as well as off the beaten path. I carry extra sticky ropes as I seem to go through them.

Ive got probably 4 to 5 plugs in all 4 tires and have been driving around on the freeway for a year with them so they work really good

Good job Brad. My wife just put our first nail in one of our tires on Whiplash, so that’s exactly what I’ll be doing this weekend.

Our plug kit has saved us many times off-road and at remote hurricane devastated worksites. I squirt a small amount of rubber cement on the plug to help it go in easier an add more sealant until we can get it correctly patched.

Nothing but positive thoughts about this video. I’ve plugged many tires. Plug it in the field and have it patched later. Reputable tire companies will do the patch or cover under your road hazard warranty, if you added that to the purchase. I have driven tires to their wear limit with plugs. Never had one fail.

It has been a while since I have had to plug a tire, I carry the same Arb Kit. Very nice tutorial on proper way to do it. II don’t think I have heard of a tire place saying they would patch a tire in the past 10 years, the area where they will patch is almost nonexistant nowadays.

Way Of Life........style start of the video.........I am 60, I have been plugging my tires since I was 17......learned plugging tires while working at a gas station during high school years........I have never .........ever ...........had one fail.........I do not sweat plugs........actually, last week - just plugged one on my mini Tacoma..........I use liquid rubber cement from NAPA on the reamer and plug before inserting vice that lubricant..........

Hello: Back in 1968 to 70 I worked at a service station, we had a gun system from NAPA. A Rubber with a flange on the bottom with ribs went into the gun. You reamed it and put a little glue on the end of the rubber, jabbed it into the hole, and pulled the gun back and the round plug was in the tire. Trim off excess, the tire was sealed !!!! I think it was $3.00, dune deal.

I saw that you used an impact wrench to remove the lug nuts from your spare tire. Could you teach us how to do the removal and re-mount? Process, tools etc. Particularly with how to manage proper torque. I’D like to understand that for all the wheels so I can rotate my tires etc. Thank you!

What us old guys do after putting the plug in is turn the tire so the plug is at 5:00 the light the plug on fire with a lighter. The plug will melt, and at that angle the heat will go up the plug to the tire and further seal it. I also prefer to use tire cement rather then a lubricant.

Every tire plug kit I’ve used had vulcanizing cement glue , when did it change? Sometimes it’s hard to get the reamer in and a drill will do the job. Nice Bronco , still waiting on ours. Good job.

If your valve stem is hard to get to you could carry a few valve stem extenders in your kit to use until you get it aired back up

I'm seeing a lot of videos of flats with the factory sasquatch tires. My luck with picking up debris has me excited... then I'll have an excuse to upgrade to some tougher 37s lol

Thank you. I did not know how to do that and I have never seen anyone else do it. I do so appreciate when people take the time to explain basic things that seem like everybody should know but not all of us do. I mean, they sell those plugs in every parts store, in many gas stations, and even in Walgreens and grocery stores. But I had no idea how they worked because if I get a flat, I inflate it and drive to the tire shop and let them fix it. I don't even watch them fix it. If it takes longer than 10 minutes I go have lunch. I didn't have a kit in my car for emergencies because why would I? That's what the spare is for and that's why God created tire shops. Oh, and to get the spare on, I call the 800 number on a plastic card and somebody shows up and does it for me. So thanks. Now I know.

I learned the hard way on a near new tire, brand name tire dealers will not patch a previously plugged tire or honor any warranty on a plugged tire. If you need to do it to get home great, but if you are expecting to get it patched or replaced under warranty later just use your spare

Have to buy these with T plastic handles at least if not the metal one, i have 1 set in each personal and work vehicle and yes patch is better permanent solution, but i never redone them and this repair never failed me after

One step I do is rub sand at the very end so the road would not pull out plug

America's Tire (Discount Tire in some places) refers to that as a "street plug". If you have an extended warranty and use one it will void it. I've used these before and will again, but if it meant turning a $30 replacement into $200 one, it would have to be dire emergency.

Goodyear Service Centers will patch a tire for free. They patch it from the inside like you mention in this video. It doesn't matter what brand of tire you have or if you purchased the tire there!!
