Thanks very much for your tutorial. It was very helpful to me. But I just want to point out one thing: You said that, if there's a big pool of oil under the washer, then this video won't help. Because that would suggest that there is a bigger leak, maybe from the crankcase gasket, so fixing that is a much bigger job, requiring removal of the entire transmission, etc.. However, in my case, I did have a rather large pool of oil under my washer, simply because I let it go for a long time before I got around to troubleshooting and fixing it. But all of that oil did in fact leak out of the worn out seal, near the motor coupler, which you show how to replace in this video. I managed to refill it with new oil by simply injecting oil VERY SLOWLY through that opening, before installing the new seal ring. And now it works like a dream. So it's worth noting that, at least in some cases, a big puddle of oil can result from just this bad seal. And this video does show you all you need to know to fix it. You just need to also replace all the oil that's leaked out. But that can be done without taking anything else apart. You just need to inject the oil slowly through the opening, before replacing the old seal.

I bought a new Speed Queen years ago and noticed a little bit of oil on the floor shortly, a couple months, after I bought it. Stupidly I let it go and after it was just out of warranty started making weird noises. (3 years 3 months). Luckily SQ was cool about it and had it replaced under warranty. They stripped that washer down to parade rest! It was a BIG job. The way I noticed it was I had to change the belt because it was slipping. The old one was oil soaked. Usually out of balance is hard on washers and will beat the seals and parts.

Wouldn't be easier if you take that front plate ? Its only 2 screws . If you scratch the shaft with screwdriver the seal will go bad fast . Also since you don't know how much oil is in the transmission its a good idea to take the transmission out and check

Sometimes you could smell the oil....If the oil is very black could i change it what type of oil is best pump oil? That RT seal does it leak after a while? Is there any other way to change the oil other than opening those nuts hoping the gears inside don't fall off and hard to replace..tks for the video the transmission cost a lot.....IEdit-- now read the comments lol

Mate good stuff...quick question..recently changed motor coupling......a tiny bit of oil dripped out ,(maybe 1/2 teaspoon max) as machiene was on its side for a while...not much....how much oil is in these things? Cheers appreciate yr clear vids.

How about a top load frigidaire that leaks motor oil IN the tub? No noise during operation...only did 2 loads...not using the machine now.

OMG I have the exact same washer machine to and will there be any oil added to the transmission or will the transmission come prefilled with oil?

If I have to read lace the seal that means that the transmission lost oil. Is there a way to refill it with oil without opening the transmission box?

I tried finding a transmission seal for my GE washer model GTW460ASJ8WW and it seems like the seal is not available. It seems like they force you to buy the whole transmission. Am I missing something?

Won't the oil leak out once the seal is removed unless it's tilted a lot, but then the oil leaks out the weep hole on top I heard.

My kenmore 70 is leaking a little but nothing on the ground , also it doesn’t spin , so I’m going to replace the cupler
