in this video i teach you how you can fix the akg headbband issue when the band becomes loose without needing to take them apart this is not the recomeded fix the recomended fix it to take them apart and replace the band this is moe for the people that have liimited experience and wants a quick easy fix

Thanks for the idea. I used just regular rubber bands and it works great. No zip tie needed as the rubber doesn't slide off like the bands you are using.

that probably is a better idea ahahha but rubber bands to me tend to be very brittle i notice

Hi, I appreciate your getting me 50% of the way there. I started out by following your guide but didn't like your conclusion. Remove the grill, remove the band, loop the elastic between the headband mount and the cup mount, then reassemble everything. No zip ties required anywhere.

I came up with another method that require no disassembly, you start by putting the rubber band around the entire ear cup from the inside so it is now sitting around the circle with the grill behind the headband poles. you then unclip the headband sides and put the rubber band around each claw that goes around the headband and then put the poles back into the headband clips.

not a wooden bench thats a very very thin venier of wood underneath it is paper in a honeycomb pattern

@@ZRay507 several years, I don't remember exactly. Also to be precise they didn't break off, they are still there but have lost elasticity.

@@ZRay507 I would say besides the elastics they are fairly solid, I've used them daily since 2016. In general keep in mind that any headphone will need some "repairs" at some point, the first thing to go are usually the pads(I've replaced them once) and in some cases the headband as well, but it also depends how much you use them and if you keep them clean they will last a bit longer. Some headphones like Beyerdynamic DT series have the advantage of easily replaceable parts.

@@progste thank you for your feedback at the moment I have a pair of DT770 which need a pad replacement after about 3 years of having them and almost using them daily. The reason why I want to get the K712 is because I have a pair of HD660s, but they lack the soundstage, which is critical for me as I want the best immersive experience for my gaming sesions. Thanks a bunch! :)

Some might call it a "slightly ghetto" fix. But he does mention "temporary fix". Also, if you plan fixing the K271, a clean fix will be a bit of a chore, but doable.

Wenn ich schon sehe wie der mit dem Kopfhörer umgeht ( keine weiche Unterlage auf der schmutzigen Arbeitsfläche ). Einfach unmöglich ........

these cans sound great, but the headband design is kinda crap. the brittle clear plastic piece that the headband tracks on was a terrible idea. worse, they have a cheap individual replacement part for basically everything but this plastic piece. to replace it you have to get the full headband assembly. for $80. and RN out of stock. think I'll just stick with this cheap solution permanently. though I managed to have a slightly more graceful look by wrapping the elastic over the inside first, over the large end of the cups. then it didn't get tangled in the original elastic. Probably will have to hot-glue the elastic on the side that doesn't have the cord coming out of it though

I mean, the MSRP is $600 (if you buy them directly from AKG), but most places sell them for half or less.

They're fine, dont worry about the durability of the k700s series, i have a pair of k7xx massdrop edition that are made in china not even austria and they been dropped, sat on, kicked over, stepped on, you name it and they're still 100% fine with some minor blemishes here and there. I know the austrian ones are way better quality too.

they are fine they will survive a few rough handling jakers my mate has had a pair since around 2014 throws them around an they are fine good test for quality and durability and my mate owns a portable studio in the back of his van so abused to hell and back never had any issues what so ever they were my cans i can handle them however i want hahahah I sold them after anyways for 2 times what i paid even after fees
